Comment: Mail is definitely slow this year as I’m just getting this and I see you sent it on Dec 7. Thank you for the extra PC’s. I hope you had a joyful Christmas. We had a wonderful Christmas even though we did not spend it with all our family, we did get to spend it with our son and his girlfriend. The best to you in 2021 and let’s hope for many world wide change for everyone so we can all start to enjoy our lives again.
Comment: Thank you so much Linda for a beautiful selection of PCs but I must say that my BIG favorite is Saturn! It is incredible! And a big thank you for those amazing stamps you used. Big support of Alzheimer's illness. Lovely swap!
Comment: Wow! How long have you been on Postcrossing?
Response: I started on Postcrossing in June 2014. I normally mail cards as soon as I am allowed to. Sometimes it is a few days before they get in the mail. Since I have more cards travelling now, sometimes I can't keep up with all that I am allowed to send, but they go out within a few days of when I am eligible to send them. I usually catch up on the weekends.
Comment: Omg, it’s so terrific being part of a worldwide postcard exchange community – thanks to the post offices, we can stay connected with friendly old-fashioned communication > cheers for snailmail!
Comment: Thanks for the VA Beach card, Linda. I miss my cat terribly-had to put Tyson down last Feb. I work from home and have felt so alone since we lost him! I'm sure we'll get another kitty, but we need to finish some remodeling first. I'm a postcrosser too-for 7 years now.
Comment: I'm impressed with your post crossing number! I've found it too slow to get that many in such a short time. I guess it does add up over time. I'm still only at 80 sent though, and I've been on there for a year and a half.
Comment: Nice card. I ended up with a whole bunch of cards from China in a lot I bought. Most were interesting. I'd love to visit southern China's forests, but I think that is fairly unlikely. I can still dream.
Comment: Thank you for the striking view of some of NYC's most recognizable sights, Linda! I was just reading the mostly rave reviews for the limited run of Sunday in the Park with George revival starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford and wishing I could be there before it ends on April 23! Glad you are able to take walks regularly; I had a serendipitous opportunity to walk through the park on Sunday to avoid parade traffic/meet my family. What did you hear at the symphony? Hope you have a good weekend ♥
Comment: Belated thank you for the striking view of Times Square, Linda! I love seeing which shows are being advertised on the brightly-colored marquees to try to determine what season/year the photo may have been taken :) I see West Side Story, A Little Night Music, South Pacific, and La Cafe Aux Folles... So probably around 2009-10. Thank you for sharing your Postcrossing stats with me! I have been behind in registering and rating, with a sinus infection that segued into allergies and getting taxes and other things in order lately, and I look forward to seeing my updated stats. I photograph all the mail that I send, and sometimes I forget that I've sent something so long ago (or relatively recently), and I love reading my partners' messages. Hope you have a good weekend!
Comment: Thank you for the Key West postcard! I'm in a slow spot with PostCrossing right now. I have 3 that have been traveling more than 50 days and it's holding up my numbers. I'm kind of new to it, so having that many held up isn't good. Maybe it will even out!
Comment: Thanks for the great card! Have you heard of Spa World? They have locations all over the world and they have one in Virginia! I was going to visit one while I was in Japan for work but was worried about seeing colleagues there since we all traveled together! LOL ;)
Comment: Thanks for the card. I hope you have found the spot for the tree and have it up by now. It took me all weekend to get mine up and decorated. I have one big tree..my Santa tree and two others I put up. One has my Snowmen on it and the other is what I call my Memory Tree as it holds all ornaments from when my girls were little. My granddaughter loves that tree. Happy Swapping and Merry Christmas
Comment: What a sweet card! I love the Macy's parade, too, especially the very end where Santa comes in! We watch that, then the National Dog Show. Then after dinner, we often watch one of the Miracle on 34th Street movies - love them both! Merry Christmas!
Comment: Thank you for the comforting image of tea, flowers, and a book :) I also associate tea and coffee with warmth and comfort; I never really grew to like drinking coffee and only do so in extreme emergencies when I need to stay awake. I once drank a straight-up black Americano, probably 16+ ounces, when I had two fifteen-page papers, a group presentation, and an exam on the last day of the semester... and I didn't sleep for two days, and I drank an entire case of 24 16-ounce bottle Dasani T_T One of my favorite artworks related to coffee is Bach's "Coffee Cantata," Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht (Be still, stop chattering), BWV 211, a sort of mini-comic opera about an addiction to coffee ♥
Comment: Thank you Linda! Me too, I like to travel, and within the next few years, we've planned cross-continental road trips. I think I'm considering to take a break from college (I'm in a hard major) to do those!
Comment: What a stunning PC. . . and so interesting that it is the gates of a cemetery. I have never been to China either but have always been interested in their architecture - so very ornate. Thanks again for the great PC ~~
Comment: Lovely snowy cards! Thanks for finding all snow pcs, not just some! And it is cool they are each a different type of location, too. The one with a rainbow over the snow is too cool! Thanks so much 😀
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful Virginia's historic triangle card, Linda -- all three are on my travel wishlist as a history buff :) Mmm, glad the shrimp was good -- I am still thinking about the delicious boiled shrimp, sauce, potatoes, and corn my family had on a Sunday lunch following Mass at the site of the first Filipino settlement in the US. We are still trying to find out who sells/prepares that particular shrimp... Happy Halloween!
Comment: I love German food! It's one of my favorites. There is a place we like to go. It's a bit of a drive for us but, it's so worth it. Oktoberfest sounds fun! I went to one in Busch Gardens once, when I was younger. We had a blast!
Comment: Thanks so much for your card! Glad you got lots of rest on your vacation! I'm gonna be off from work for a week in September when my parents visit from Germany. I really need a vacation hahaha
Comment: Thank you for the postcard on Virginia. I did not realize that the ground does not freeze in the winter there. i do love to visit the beach in the summer, rather it is in Maryland or elsewhere!
Comment: What an awesome assortment of post cards! So many really good ones; the romance novel PC made me "LOL" - I'm going to send that one to my best friend, it's the kind of thing that would have sent us into a fit of hysterics if we had seen it together. Thank you so much!!! :)
Comment: Thank you for the vivid, humorous Peruvian black cat tunic card from the Met, Linda! I don't think I've seen that piece before, but I have merely chipped the tip of the iceberg that is my favorite place in my favorite city. Mmm, tomatoes are my favorite; I missed this year's festival in town, haha. Happy gardening and sauce-making!
Comment: Thanks Linda for the postcard of some historical sharing of the past. Guess Turtle soup which i have never tried and never will. I have a love for animals so i could never hurt anything like that. Fishing, anything that harms life is just something i am not going to participate in. I honor though that throughout history that is what we did as a people. We had to eat and this is one of the ways that we did. That being said i am ok with what was in the past and glad that i choose something else while i am here on the planet and trying to heal thru practicing loving kindness to all animals. I heard that someone wrote a book that is an expert on Fish and he said that fish can feel feelings. That makes them a sentient being! I was so happy to see that someone knew it and did the research on fish! I hope we can all grow to love our animals on this planet and even if we cannot pet them have respect for them and the beauty that they give us in this unique opportunity to be here in planet earth all being together thru the dream! Have a wonderful trip to California! Glad you can go to the beach as the beach is a lovely place to visit! Enjoy!
Comment: Hi Linda! Love the pc- LOL! I understand about the graduation parties - we have gone to two wedding receptions and have two more that we are aware of this year - everyone is growing up - yikes!! LOL! And yes, going to a party is always fun! Can you send some of your nice weather our way? It has been hot and humid here - but it is summer, so... LOL! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Thank you very much for this beautiful card & stamps ! and thanks for sending a second time ;-)
Response: I am investigating this one. I just looked, of the other three members who received pcs on this swap, one marked received on 5-23-15 and the other marked received on 5-28-15, and the third one has the account deleted. I most likely sent this postcard. I have contacted the rater and asked if I can resend and get the rating changed.
Comment: Linda LOVED your cat postcard! What a great swap this was! Hope you had a great lunch at the German Restaurant. And all your great cats that you have with you! What would we do without our cats? Hmmmm we would all be so lost and lonesome. They add something to all of our lives....Pets whether it be any animal add so much to our lives! Blessings to us all! Thank you!
Comment: Hi Linda! Oh the beach - I am drooling over your pc! LOL! Congrats on the anniversary of your college graduation - have you stayed in touch with many of your classmates? Hope the dentist was not too tough on you, never my favorite thing to do! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Wow, Thank you ever so much for the wonderful cards I recieved. Especially the quilted one from Indiana. My grandmother Yoder's quilt is in the State Museum with the Amish quilts. I've been to Key West and the Montana Badlands also.
Comment: Hi Linda! I love the pc! I have seen the Flatiron building in NYC, but did not realize there had been or still is one in San Fran! Very cool! How was the art show and Kentucky Derby Party? Hope you had a great time! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Thank you for the cool postcard. I have not visited Cooper's Hawk Winery. I will have to look that up. There's a wonderful winery just under an hour south of Indy called Oliver Winery. It's close to Bloomington, and it's beautiful there!
Comment: Hi Linda! I have not seen Hail, Caesar but I think it is awesome that you want to see it again to see what details you may have missed! I love the Australia pc as well - it is on our bucket list! LOL! TY for the Happy Mail! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Thank you for the gorgeous mountain postcard. It sounds like you had a great time in D.C. You're so lucky to live so close to all of the cool cities on the east coast. If it wasn't for the ice/snow and heat/humidity, I would love to live on the east coast. (I know, not picky at all, am I?) lol
Comment: Hi Linda! TY for the tree pc - we have tons of trees and my hubby is getting tired of limbs falling right before he mows! LOL! We had some pruning done and I don't feel the guy did a good job, but I am not the one that paid for it, so... Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Thanks for the Colonial Williamsburg postcard. I empathize with your frustration with people who are constantly late. I sometimes tell my kids they need to be ready to leave 30 minutes before we need to so that we are not late.
Comment: Thank you for the gorgeous Smoky Mountains National Park card -- I have not yet been and would love to one day. The image reminds me of Bon Iver's wintry songs :) Damages has been on my queue, because I like law/crime procedurals, Rose Byrne (ever since her hilarious turn in Marie Antoinette as Polignac), and Chris Messina. I recently also finished Season 4 of HoC (that ending was horrifying and interesting with Claire breaking the fourth wall) and am finally watching its British predecessor -- different but still enjoyable. Have fun watching Der fliegende Holländer :)
Comment: Beautiful PC. . . I've always liked Ansel Adams photograph and this was is spectacular. Since I'm retired I don't have to worry about days off :-) but I do remember going to conferences during the week that lasted a day or two and it was always nice to only have to actually be in the office for 3 days. Thanks again for the great PC and hope to see you in more swaps ~~
Comment: I am thinking that maybe you sent "blind" postcards for this swap. I received an envelope with no note/message on the envelope, with a Richmond postmark, so I am thinking that this is you. If it is, thanks for the great set of cards!
Comment: Thank you for the humorous blue chevron and bird quote card -- I can definitely relate to the sentiment :) Congratulations on your Postcrossing milestone! (I am at about 150 :) Have fun this weekend! I would love to boost both Richmond and D.C. soon -- so many museums have opened in the latter since I was last there in the early 00s for a class trip.
Comment: This swap is really fun. Thank you for the flash hero, would be pretty cool to travel through dimensions. Hope you gonna have an awesome time in Germany. The cities you mentioned have lots to see! :)
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful wintry California skyscape card! Mmm, leftover corned beef sounds delicious :) Oh wow, as a child I used to watch the older ladies at house parties play mahjongg and always wanted to learn. Happy week!
Comment: I think the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is one of the most recognized of all the lighthouses in the US - I suppose that comes partly from it being our tallest one and the markings are so recognizable. Thanks for the great PC and hope you have a wonderful weekend ~
Comment: Linda, Thank you for the happy message and the beautiful card. I enjoyed reading a little of your private life. What did you make for St. Patty's Day party? Thanks a million for the great pcs. I appreciate the fact that you left the greeting card cover blank inside so that I can recycle it - love the lilly print. This certainly was a happy notecard and you deserve your heart.
Comment: Hi Linda! Thank you for the great postcard. I hope you are over your cold by now, if not I wish you a speedy recovery. Enjoy planting your garden. I've been looking at a lot of gardening magazines lately and yearning for warmer weather. Take care!
Comment: Thank you for a great envy of cards. I appreciate that you looked at my profile. Love the quilt map one - never saw that one and the World trade center is the first one of the One World Trade Center for my collection. Thanks also for the extras
Comment: Linda, thank you for the cute postcard! Also, love the beautiful stamp that you used! We always have a lot of Christmas cookies too! We even have an annual baking party in my family! So far, I made my favorite cookie (not actually a cook but its peanut butter between two ritz crackers then dipped in white chocolate, so good!) and some cheesecake bites for a party this past weekend. But i'm going to do some Neiman Marcus cookies next weekend. I hope you have a good time baking this holiday! Also congrats to your son on his graduation, so exciting!
Comment: Neat postcard from you! Thanks! I've been to Grand Rapids--terrific bookstores in that town...Hauled home a couple boxes full when I was there in 2007. Hope to return to the area this summer for a pen pal picnic/anniversary part for a newsletter I am a part of. Where are you from?
Comment: I have mfamily who live in the VA Beach area =] I love visiting. Unfortunately I have a really hard time finding places to buy cards around where i live. I end up stocking up whenever I head to a museum or anything.
Comment: HI Linda!
Oh! how was the ghost walk? I am from a resort town and I used to love to go on those walks too! We don't have anything near by where I live now... I think Princeton does during October but I'm not sure!
I love postcard swaps too!! I love to see what people are doing and seeing all over the world! Let me know if you want me to send you one from Princeton! I'd be happy to!
Comment: Linda - Thank you for the lovely postcard, I love Key Lime Pie! I hope you had a great time down in Key West. Although, I've been here for about 7 years, I haven't been there. Also frozen key lime Pie? Sounds amazing and delicious! I think I might try the recipe soon! <3 Thanks again.
Comment: Love the PC and my mom just saw the movie and liked it too..looks like I'll put it on the watchlist. Hope your school is going well- I had a few history classes about the Cold War and the required reading was very interesting. Have a great week. Take care, Annette
Comment: Thank you for the awesome cat postcard :) I'm actually quite the film buff myself and would enjoy chatting with you about films if you find yourself with free time soon. We could discuss and recommend films. ^-^
Comment: My, you had a busy but wonderful weekend. I love Farmer's Markets. You got me thinking about a Tomato Pie. Now I am craving a Tomato Pie and I have never had one.
Loved the definition of Social Networking.
Comment: I wish we had your rain so I could plant a garden... we are only allowed to water 2x a week, so my trees and cactus are hanging in there... everything else is dying off. *sigh* Have a good summer and hope your kitties find a cool spot to hang out in (mine like the bathtub!). Take care!
Comment: Thank you for the very glittery Georgia card! Helen sounds interesting; in California, the famous cheesy town is Solvang, which is modeled after a Dutch village. Looks like a lost land from Disneyland!
Comment: Thank you for such a nice selection of cards. My favorite is the charming Thai watercolor of the elephant & passengers. And who knew that there's a hidden spiral staircase at the info booth at Grand Central?!
Comment: Cute corks! Thanks, Linda! I'm often the odd-one-out since I don't drink wine (migraine prone rules it out). The only time I really mind is when I can't participate in wine tasting. Glad you found a winery you enjoy so much! Take care. -Rhonda
Comment: I so appreciate the thoughtful profile related and amazing notecards that you sent. It will be hard for me to write on or send these on. They will remain in my box of favs for a very long time and I will look through them often admiring the artwork. Lucky Me to have been your partner!
Comment: When I was a child, we had a beautiful Siamese-Burmese kitty that my mom took to breed to another kitty 30 miles away. He got away and disappeared. It was the dead of winter, in WI, so we feared the worst!!! He did make it home, but he was terribly thin and his ears were frostbitten. They are so amazing! We have never had a standoffish kitty. All of ours have wanted to be with us! Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Comment: Thank you for the nice postcard! Also its neat to hear that somebody's visited Goleta before, even if it was so long ago, though I'm sure much has changed since then!
Response: I remember we were driving down the road, and we did not know what plants were growing in the fields. We got out of the car and looked and they were artichokes! We were a bunch of Easterners that had never seen an artichoke on the plan before!
Comment: Ooh, what a beautiful Burmese cat! My cats are mostly "indoors" cats but when I am home I do let them go out for some fresh air and grass! =^,,^= Thank you for the nice card and have a great day!
Comment: Thank You for the awesome ship PC. My brother was stationed in the Nave at Norfolk on the USS Wasp. I can get ship pcs, but I can get airplane PCs. I work at Robins AFB. LOL Anyway thanks for the great card.
Comment: Hello from another Lovely Linda. I've been teaching art classes with that name for more than 25 years. Got your cards today, so thanks. I've been to Norfolk, Williamsburg, and Newport News as a child.
Comment: Ah, Blazing Saddles--one of my all time favorites. I had the quote for my swap narrowed down to one from the Blues Brothers and the one from Blazing Saddles, "you know, morons." Mongo just pawn in game of life. So many good ones.
Comment: Hello Linda - ooh, the Enchanted Doll House is kinda creepy, but I am sure kids would find it hard NOT to want to touch and play with everything! Thanks for the card and hope your book signing was fun! My 3 cats say hello to yours too. Take care!
