Comment: Interesting story, well told. I'm not sure telling a true event and giving your opinion about it is "spinning yarn" which I take to mean making up something fictional. Whatever -- I enjoyed reading it. Actually, you mailed it quite a while after the deadline.
Comment: I guess I'm going to have to give Neil Gaiman another chance. My friend recommended Ocean and it just didn't grab me. Maybe I'll check out his other books, since you weren't the first swap botter who recommended him.
Response: I guess it depends on the type of books you like, he's good for fantasy mostly. Maybe try American Gods, it's my favorite of his. Or Good Omens, which is a collaboration with Terry Pratchett. Super funny!
Comment: Thank you for your swap. Awesome long synopsis about each. I'm usually only able to put a sentence or two, since my logs are already so long. If you like Syfy, have you tried Redshirts by John Scalzi yet? So funny!
Comment: Thanks so much! I hope that sometime there will be another patch swap! I love the idea of punk literature patches -- I can picture the perplexed groupie right now :) And -- wow! I really need to try diy silkscreening this summer -- the images are so sharp! LOVE Godzilla and the fortune teller :) I am going to challenge myself to make Moth-Ra this summer. In all my spare time!
Response: Have fun! It's one of those hobbies that you can't stop once you start.
Comment: A very good idea to choose your local bands and give us something a bit different. The links are very helpful, make it easy to listen to the tracks and learn more about the bands. There are some I'm going to dig deeper into :)
Comment: My lil buddy on my road trip and while i was sick... he got to play with a bat behind the scenes at the zoo where I used to work but unfortunately I couldn't take a picture due to the fact I couldn't bring him and my camera into the environment
Comment: I really enjoyed reading your Log, Lauren! You read about the same number of books in the first quarter as I did :) Unfortunately I couldn't read the GoT reviews because I've only read the first two. It's good to know you're A Pratchett fan too! You made me want to read Watership Down and Oryx and Crake, they sound interesting. Oh and thank you for the bookmarks!
Comment: Great list! I love these swaps -- they give me a chance to listen to music and genres that I wouldn't otherwise encounter. I've just listened to Harem in Tuscany which I really liked, and Operation M.O.V.E. which I sort of liked! I'll certainly listen to both again.
Response: That's my favorite part of playlist swaps, too. Glad you liked the songs!
Comment: Hello Lauren! Thank you for the postcard and the lyrics. To tell you the truth, I have never heard about RVIVR and the song Big Lie was new for me. But I liked it:) and THANK YOU for the words of support, it is very important for me. Best wishes! Katya :)
Response: Awesome, I'm glad that postcard made it to you safely :D
Comment: Sorry it took me awhile to rate- I moved, and only just got your package! But thank you!! The hat and gloves are awesome. I sent very similar ones in my box, and wanted to keep them so badly. haha Thanks again!
Response: I'm guessing this didn't make it to your email? I've sent you a PM and resent just in case. Hopefully we can resolve this. (UPDATE 1/5) This user retracted this rating, and then gave me a 1 AGAIN after I resent. I have proof that I sent this swap both times. Now going to post the swap on her profile to make absolutely sure she sees it.
Comment: Hello Lauren, I got my book today! Thanks so much for the re-send. It sounds interesting and a bit kooky. :) I can't wait to read it. I have to say, I hope the first book shows up. It definitely sounds interesting too!! I checked out your Tumblr and I looove the "parade" dress!! Thanks again!
Response: Yaaay! I'm happy this got to you! And thanks for checking out my tumblr, it's a strange place, lol!
Comment: Thank you! Finally it arrived.
It's funny I don't know many of these artist and sonsg. I only know two of them and I also have them on my player: Lovesong from The Cure ( I love it) and Rock me Amadeus by Falco. Because I am German I understand what he's singing and I think he was a very excentric but good artist.
Response: Haha, I wondered about Rock Me Amadeus when I saw you were German!
Comment: Thank you so much for this awesome letter! It took me a while to get used to the signs. :D Did you invent these? Really great! I had fun encoding this message. Where do I find this man in the green jacket though? ;)
Response: Thanks! I actually just looked up 'secret code' on Google, and picked the one that looked the coolest, haha. As for the man in the green jacket- he's an elusive one :D
Comment: Hey girl! I LOVE the song you chose!
I must admit I never listen to Amanda before so I looked for more songs from her but my very favourite is yours! It has reminded me about another girl I met some years ago. I think she has the closer character I look for in a boy... We had a strange hate - love relationship but we never were more than "friends".
Response: Thank you! I'm glad you like it, she's one of my favorites!
Comment: Lauren, thank you so much for the lovely Pisces pkg!!! I wear the gorgeous necklace all the time.. And the essential oil was an awesome surprise!!that funny magnet is awesome .. I wish I could find a place here to get those... I have a couple of friends who would love them..! Thank you so much for the awesome Pisces package!! Have a great Thanksgiving !
Response: Awesome, I'm glad it made it there in one piece! I was worried about that oil bottle!
Comment: Always daunting to look at someone else's playlist and think: I've never heard of 80% of these bands.
Still, that's the fun of it. I oved discovering some new songs (new for me): The Devil So Charming, wrong way/one way, and Evelyn Evelyn. (And that great cover of This is Halloween). Thanks for sharing your playlist!
Comment: Thanks a lot! You introduced me to a lot of bands I didn't know about, I love discovering new music! :) I love Metalocalypse and I can't wait to watch the other recommendations from your list! Rock on!
Response: Yay! Hope you like them, and thanks for the heart!
Comment: Lauren, I have never heard ANY of the bands/songs you posted. I'm really looking forward to checking it all out. Thanks so much for your descriptions and for giving more than 5 in each category.
Response: Thanks for the heart! Hope you find something you like :D
Comment: The music was great - thanks. My writing style is a little off too but the jokes were a fun add in, today pirates pretty much mean fun, adventurous and a bit of humor. Have a great night. Thank you
Response: Glad you liked it! Lame jokes are my favorite, haha
Comment: Thanks. I think the song suggestions would have more impact if you'd only listed 10, maybe your 10 favorites, instead of just all the songs with numbers. // response: Oh, ok. It wasn't clear from your email like you like all these bands, just that you put in everything in iTunes. :)
Response: Huh, first time I've been told that I put too much into a swap. Music is a big part of my life, so those are all bands/songs that I like. I personally join music swaps hoping that my partner will send me a bunch of new stuff to check out! But by no means are you obliged to listen to it if you don't want to :)
Comment: Thanks so much for the surf bus!!! I love the print. I have dreams of owning a Vanagon, I will admit to it, too. But how cool to ride the light rail every day. I really love the subway/ commuter rail whenever I have had the opportunity to ride it :) Sadly, light rail did not make it where I live yet.
Response: Maybe someday it will! It's a super convenient way to travel! Glad you liked the card!
Comment: Such a fusing story! Thank you. ✨🎶🎵 so much! I'm actually a creationist too, but I don't think God put dinosaurs on the earth to test us! I think matter is finite and the earth was made from other parts of planets before and ion those planets dinosaurs existed. But it's just a theory, it's not a big thing, I could care less where dinosaurs came from! Anyway, loved your card and your story! I hope you join some of my other swaps in the future.
Response: Glad it made it to you! I was worried that I'd accidentally put a domestic stamp on it instead of an international, haha :) - and I enjoyed this swap, I'll definitely look out for yours in the future!
Comment: Hello! I got your awesome postcard today. Wow! What a cool pc. Where did you find it? That decade was certainly a big time of change in the world. I myself haven't quite nailed down which time period I would choose because each one definitely has it's pro's and con's. Thanks for mailing!!!
Response: Thanks! I got it at a store called Orange Dracula - they have the best postcards!
Comment: Thanks for the stories! fuckyeahnightmares has been my favourite tumblr for ages, I love that blog! Other good ones are fuckyeahcreepypasta, creepypasta, fuckyesparanormal, and my other favourite is creepythingsirandomlyfind.
Response: Ohh man!! So many new tumblrs to follow. Thanks!!
Comment: Wow you had some zombie movies on your list that I had not heard of before. I am gonna have to check some of them out. I like your take on the movies that you listed. I would be curious to know what you thought about the current Walking Dead series?
Response: I love The Walking Dead! Although, as a reader of the comic series as well, I have to hold back from yelling, "That's not how it happened in the book!" quite a bit, haha :)
Comment: very clever ATC. And your handwriting is so pretty. I wish I could print like you. Thank you so much . yeah I told a book I didn't like to use too. I trade books on Paperback swap, so had some that were as you said "Cheesy" ha ha Marcia
Response: Thank you! Haha, well at least those books were good for something :D
Comment: I love the chain link bracelet; I've worn it a few times already and it looks really cool! I've actually worn the woven bracelet every day since I got the swap --is it kumihimo or some other technique? Thanks so much for the bracelets, and for participating in my swap!
Response: Yay! I'm glad you like them! The woven one is from this (wonderfully easy) tutorial here: http://www.michaelannmade.com/2011/07/woven-friendship-bracelet-tutorial.html and the chain link one is from this tutorial: http://www.stripesandsequins.com/2012/05/diy-chain-friendship-bracelets.html
Comment: There are some amazing songs you sent around. Need to listen to more songs from Kultur Shock and Jherek Bischoff. Thanks for your great recommendations.
Giving you a <3 for 'The Doubleclicks' as Filk is always amazing.
Response: Thank you for the heart! I'm glad you found some stuff you like!
Comment: Thank you for joining my swap you rule and the awesome photos of American Horror. I know I can't wait for the new season, it's called the coven and looks so good. Hurry up October!!! Haha xD xoxox
Response: October is the best month in pretty much every way - especially with the new AHS season!!
Comment: Ive seen pontypool and I loved it! It was definately breathe a fresh bit of air into the Zombie genre. Rec i have yet to see,but Ive been wanting to see it for what feels like forever haha. Have you watched any of the sequels to it? Thanks for the list!
Response: Sadly, the sequels ruin the series! They get pretty wacky pretty quickly. Which is too bad, because the first movie is great!
Comment: Your list was fantastic! I love the descriptions and thoughts you wrote for each one. The Sacred Book Of The Werewolf sounds like a must-read. I also want to read the Casual Vacancy, too. Have a marvellous day. (｡◕‿‿◕｡)
Comment: Thank you so much for the review. I have never read any of Neil Gaiman's books, although this is the second one today I have had recommended so I am definitely going to give him a try. Thank you!
Comment: Thank you for the great drawings, you have some really cool stuff on you page. They eye is excellent and the little ninja is cute but the skull is my favorite. I cracked up when I read I draw dead people. You have a really cool style. Thank you for the Johnny Cash pc, I get to call you my hero now! I also have to ask where did you get the notebook with the angel and devil paper. I think its great and would love to be able to buy one myself.
Response: Haha, thank you! I'm glad you liked everything :D, I got the notebook off the clearance rack at Half Price Books, but it was made by a graphic novel artist called Craig Thompson, and you can buy it online here: http://www.darkhorse.com/Products/12-746/DHorse-Deluxe-Journal-Craig-Thompsons-Angels-and-Demons-Journal
Comment: Thank you for the music! I too came across The Covers Project while searching for information on covers and original artists of songs... there's a ton of songs listed! I'm glad you included links, but wish you had included ones for the original versions because I haven't heard some of them.
Comment: my birthday came earlier!!! thank you SO MUCH for your package!!!! i went to seattle few years ago and i LOVE it!!! definitely the best city i've been in states, besides orlando just because they have all the theme parks.. i actually didn't buy any pc or tshirt when i was there so i really appreciate everything that you've sent me!! right now i wish swapbott have the option to give 10 hearts, lol.. will write you back if you don't mind? ;)
Response: Yay! I'm glad you liked the package! Seattle is a fun place, for sure :)
Comment: I loved your package! (´∀｀)♡ I put the bowties on right away, they were so cute! And all the great goodies, thanks so much! Tibbers and Luna say thanks also! I bet your kitties are very happy to have you!~
Response: Haha, I bought some for my cats, too. I bet yours look super cute!! Glad you liked it!
Comment: Hello Lauren! Sorry for rating you late. I received your mail last Friday(17-May) but it took me some time to go through all of it (because I'm not a native English speaker and my English grades are a bit poor... :-P)
Thank you a lot for these suggestions. :-) I have read A Clockwork Orange in Chinese and I like the book pretty much. I think I want to read Odd Thomas or Good Owens now! :-)
Response: Awesome! Hope you like the others as much as A Clockwork Orange!
Comment: loved that you took the time to give genres to the songs on your list - brillliant idea! i have the nathaniel merriweather (dan) album that your first song was from - yah. from there i was pleasantly surprised by groups i've never come across before. you have given me lots to youtube further. mega thanks
Comment: I recently approached Neil Gaiman work, but I've never read Sandman (yet), although I've heard about it since the tv show Supernatural was in some way inspired by it. Anyway I think your casting is great!
Response: Thanks! Definitely check it out if you like his other work, I think it's his best!
Comment: WOWW! You've been so fast sending your swap girl! =D
I really love your pictures, but I'm sorry, my favourite is the reward sign hahahahaha I couldn't stop laughing! Your flat has showed me how arty you're so I hope you'll join the stickers swap I'm going to host in the TBA group too! ;)
Response: Haha, I love the reward sign, too. Nice try, BMW! And I am looking forward to that next swap!
Comment: I can't believe this is only the third ATC you've made! It's beautiful; I particularly like the way you overlapped the metal embellishments, and the way the pearls are lined up on the curve. Thanks so much!
Response: Thank you! I was getting so fed up with trying to align those pearls, haha! But it turned out okay in the end :D
Comment: the postcard reminds me of the movie - "Clockwork Orange" (one of the must read/see for sure) :)
out of 5 i would say 3,5:
i'm short, only 5'2 (but I do have an attitude that makes me seem taller LOL)
i do have brown eyes and brown hair (but it's currently a normal color - i've never had it black, but i did even have it clownish red at some point in my life)
i love goth clothing (i would love to go to Hot Topic one day - never been but would love to go!), but i mix it with classic (jeans, a cool dragon goth t-shirt and a tux jacket or elegant shirt over) - comfortable is defenetly me :)
makeup - if i go out, defenetly that, though in hot summers or on a sunday i prefer only some lipbalm, corrector and pencil
- WOW - really really close since my personality and how i look defenetly look quite different - one of my friends explained it like this: i can look quite mean, but am apparently like a marshmelow inside LOL :D
Response: 3/5 not bad! Haha, glad I got a couple things right. Also - A Clockwork Orange is awesome!
Comment: well.. you live in states, F21 is just in the cornerrrr.. we have to buy it OL, sucks, last time i did 4 times payment and none gets through cause too many people buying? =( i like your style! i wish for the red shorts too =D
Response: Thanks! And yes, having a F21 nearby is pretty awesome!
Comment: Thank you so much for your list! There are actually two movies on your list I haven't seen yet. They're going on my list of movies to watch! :) Also, my Swedish heart skipped a beat when you mentioned "Let the right one in". It's beautiful! But it wasn't on my list.. Haha, shame on me.
Best wishes to you! /Lise
Response: Thanks! I've been seeing lots of good Swedish films lately. It's fun to watch things that aren't all American made.
Comment: Haha, you've got me beat on getting to the weird side of youtube! It usually takes me at least ten songs to get there:) I really especially liked Evelyn Evelyn and Rvivr! The Edenbridge video cracked me up! There's like all these "metal" dudes and this lady singing into bubbles:) Thanks for all the new stuff!
Response: Glad you liked them! More people should definitely like Rvivr and Evelyn Evelyn, they're rad!
Comment: Thank you so much for your letter! First off: The stationery really got me, at first I didn't realise they were organs! Totally cracked me up! :D ALso, your recommendations sound good. Fun fact: I've already read "Velocity" and enjoyed it a lot. I agree about not having expected the outcome at all! I probably should reread it though. :) Also, the Saga you wrote about sounds great, too, I'll try to get my hands on that. Thanks a lot! :)
Comment: Thanks for the Beatrix Potter card. It's the first one I ever get! I'm going to look up alle the books you mention and see if there is something for me. Did you like Perfume? It's in my bookcase, but it doesn't speak to me...
Response: I thought that the idea behind the story was interesting, but the main character was not very realistic. I know he's a killer and all, but there was nothing human about him whatsoever!
Comment: Thanks for the lovely note and the articles. I enjoyed your take on them as well! I definitely got a kick out of the "Remainder Valentines" as well. The Stranger seems like an awesome paper, thank you for sharing it with me!
Response: Yeah, The Stranger has some funny stuff, especially the user-submitted bits like the valentines, haha!
Comment: Thank you for your e-mail. I also prefer paper books. Harry Potter is also one of my favourites. Imagine how I felt - we had to read "A tale of two cities" in my last year at school as it was one of our prescribed books. And we had to finish it, because we got a final paper on it which counted towards half of ou English marks. :(
Response: Ahhh! That's awful! Props to you for getting all the way through it, though. That is a challenge, for sure!
Comment: Lauren, thank you so much for your letter. It's eerie how similar we are! Are you looking for a penpal? I would love to write back, even though I know it's weird to have a penpal living so close to you!
Response: Totally! I don't care if you're not thousands of miles away, I like talking to everyone :)
