Comment: Hi Al, I love these old black and white pictures of skyscraper construction workers. I always try to imagine what kind of character they must have had to work so far up in the open without safety equipment. Thank you for the great PC!
Comment: A shame you never got to visit the DC pandas. San Diego just sent the last two back and I'll admit, I cried like a loved one was moving away. I've visited them since '96 and now I really don't know what to do with myself at the zoo now.
PS- I loved all the stamps you used!!! It's not on my profile but I'm a Girl Scout life member, so that 4¢ stamp was extra cool to me.
Comment: Thank you for the pc of the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Brings me back memories from my visit to this museum in 1995. I saw the costume collection, in the meantime my husband strolled through cd-shops. Very thoughtful , the stamp with the felt hat maker. Lovely.
Comment: it was exciting to get a card from singapore with the classy vintage postage > thanks so much! lucky you are finding a magnificent box of
postcards: talk about enlarging your world > enjoy & share the views!
Comment: I agree with you how can you go wrong with puppies, yet obviously this photo doesn't do it justice. I would kind of like to see the artwork just to see what it actually looks like.
Mmmmm have you ever wanted to cut up a postcard just for the stamps! I love the stamps that you used, not often I want to cut up a PC for the stamps but oooooo so tempting😉😉
Comment: Thank you so much Al for this beautiful vintage PC of the Alps! I am most definitely saving it for my journal. I have always loved how they used to deckle the edges in the past and wish they did this again today.
Comment: Love the card! Great stamps! My source to watch cheezy old movies are an over-the-air channel (Comet), and free internet stations Pluto and Shout. Godzilla over the weekend, although today is a Dobie Gillis marathon on Shout (old cheesy tv series with Bob Denver as a beatnik). Thanks!
Comment: Great postcard of the Farces de la Lune magic show. The stamps you've selected are wonderful - all engraved with exquisite detail. I really like the Palace of Fine Arts stamp. I grew up in and around the City, too. Thank you for a Good Mail Day.
Comment: Thank you for the Savannah, GA card. I spent a day there in 2012 and it was a great place to visit. We took the trolley all the way around its route once. Then on 2nd round we got off at the places we wanted to see closer as trolley tickets were good for all day.
Comment: Thank you! I love how old that place looks. It would be great if that place was still in business and had the same decor.. I’d pay to stay in a hotel like that because you don’t see them like that anymore, it would be a total novelty, haha.
Comment: Thank you for the cute postcard. The kitten looks so fluffy I wish I could pick it up and rub my face in its fur. Thanks for your kind words; I'm doing much better these days. 💗 Give your sweet kitty girl some love for me. 😊
Comment: Thank you very much for these postcards! My daughter will love the bat postcard - she's obsessed! I went to NYC once and also enjoyed the people watching and the buildings. It's an amazing place.

Comment: As always u go above and beyond. Thanks so so much for the cool Roanoke pc u sent. The R sticker and the cool rabbit sticker. Honestly I don’t know how I missed mr rabbit in 2001 by I try keeping up with all the new stamps but that one slipped by. Thanks so much. Ur answers were pretty awesome too. Thanks al. See u in a swap soon
Comment: Thank you so much for the PC of the Biltmore! I haven't seen this one. We visited last year and it IS awesome! And those gardens are beautiful. It's worth the trip. Have a great day!
Comment: The boys were so excited about the Hershey Park PC. It’s one of our favorite places to go. We get season tickets every year. Last year we rented a cabana and did a day at the water park and it was awesome! I’m sure you’ve probably traveled close to Hedgesville as well as Berkeley Springs on you travels.

Comment: Thanks so much for the fisherman pc - how hilarious!! That's about how every conversation on the water goes haha We were going to take my dad trout fishing this past weekend, but it ended up snowing in the mountains?! So we will reschedule for another time. Thanks again!
Comment: Thank you for all the green stuff. Will definitely use them. Love the all old postage stamps on the envie. It wasn’t cancelled in the mail so I guess the postman decided to use the black marker and squiggle lines on them. It just ruined the stamps!!
Comment: Thank you so much for the super envelope full of amazing postcards! I love that you took the time to read my profile and sent me some great ones! The Jerusalem one is the first I have from there, so it is extra special! Love the mama and baby one and the others also. Thanks so much! Got a kick out of the avacado washi tape also, lol!
You MUST go to Alaska!! I went in July of 2017 - wow wow WOW - Make it happen- do it for YOU! It's AMAZING!!!!

Thank you thank you thank you!!
Comment: Thank you, it's arrived safely. It is really a shih-tzu on the postcard and it made me very happy. Very cute. Thank you for the goodies, I'll for sure use them in my projects. Have a good day.
Response: glad it arrived! I had trouble sorting out the postage, since rates have just gone up. :)
Comment: I love your L postcard. That's the kind of little motel we used to stay in when we took family road trip vacations when I was growing up. I love the pretty rainbow L sticker and the other ones, too. I had the same answer for hidden - love letters! Did you get some spring yet? We still have tons of snow on the ground, but some spring things are popping up. I haven't seen a robin yet, but it's been a bit warmer. Anyway, thanks!
Response: Alas, it was snowing this morning! spring soon, I guess, haha. glad you liked the card. I probably have a motel card for every letter in the alphabet -- I've been using a lot of them for this Scatts series. Best, Al
Comment: Is this a real German banknote?? So cool! I love collecting foreign currency. When I visited the UK I thought it was so cool that they use "plastic" money. Neat! Thanks so much!
Response: Not real, as in you can't spend it! (Plus they use Euros in Germany now) It's a reproduction -- I found a whole pad of them at a junk store -- like a notepad. Not sure what their original purpose was.
Comment: Thank you i received you package yesterday. wow mail sure does fly up and down 79, huh? lol I just dont know what to say....You packed so much stuff in there. I will use everything. I cant even get it back into the box to move it. And believe it or not --- I do not have anything you sent to me. I thought the spool with the eyes are it was funny. Thanks again. Hope to swap with you again.
Response: glad you can use it! I am a very good packer :)
Comment: Hi Al! Thanks for the cowboy--I think I do recognize him from the old Westerns I always watched at the Saturday cinemas.....also loved the male stamps you used on the card. very thoughtful, as always!
Comment: Dear Al, many-many thanks for your card with these lovely winter stamps. I really enjoyed it! Here is St.Pete we've got plenty of snow. It has been snowing every day since 24th of December. It's unbelievable!
Comment: Hey! Thank you so much for the great postcard! Very cool. After 2 days of the mail not being delivered due to -30 temperature here I got it today! I would love some empherea if you have some to spare I can send you a stamp. Ps loved the stamps you used too. Thank you!!
Response: will send some stuff -- you're doing me a favor :)
Comment: Thank you for your note on you walk. I find it very interesting how much money you have made this year picking up the change you find. I think I am going to have to start saving it in a jar and see how much I make. Thanks again. Fun swap!
Comment: What a gorgeous Vogue cover card, I really love it! It's a great luck that the huge amount of Pink (ink, stamp, front) suggested which swap it was, otherwise I should have sit over the card for a while figuring out which swap was it :D Also, that Harvey Milk stamp so cool, there was a costume party a few years ago, we had to dress from a film that was at least nominated for Oscar, and I wanted a gay character with moustache, so I was Scott Smith's character from the MIlk film. That was the first time I heard about Milk Harvey
Response: oops, sorry for forgetting the swap name! thank you for figuring it out. :)
Comment: Wow is right! If I had a table & room that big I don't know if I could find enough people to fill it! (the PC says the table extends to seat 64!) But it's always fun to see how the 1% lives! Thank you!
Comment: I do believe this is a new one, Al - thanks very much! And I love the stamps--Ben Franklin on the Postal Museum (my Dad worked for the USPS for 30 years), Roosevelt Hyde Park (toured it 2 years ago), and the Czech stamp (I have ancestry to Bohemia) - all very cool! thanks much-Carol in Denver
Comment: Thank you so much for the lovely Monet postcard which I found waiting for me when I returned from my holidays this afternoon. The country Monet painted must have been a lovely one, so green and peaceful.
Comment: Love the San Antonio PC! I was in the Air Force & was stationed there in 1972-73. Beautiful place!. I miss Pittsburgh. My brother still lives in the area. Visited him last Sep. Showed my boyfriend around. He'd never been there. Had a great time. He loved the casino! That wasn't there when I lived there. I lived in Oakland after school then by the airport before I moved here in NC 36 yrs ago. Hope you like it there. Different from California!
Comment: Thank you so much! I can definitely use them. You are so sweet. I love everything. So many cute things. The notecards, postcards, patch just to name a few. You are too kind! Many hearts to you!
Comment: Hi Al, thank you for the Cannon Mountain PC...I'd be a raving lunatic if I got on one of those trams! I love the variety of postage stamps, thank you so much. Also, that's a nice SwapBot ID ink stamp you got there :) Take good care peace love light
Response: that self-inking Swap-Bot stamp may have been the best $5 or so I've spent! haha
Comment: I love the random assortment of stuff. You had me chuckling with the coconut water label as a sticker... you've got a new part of my brain clicked over to recycling all sorts of random tings into envelope art. I loved your random goodies!
Comment: I love getting paired up with you as a partner! The envelope was fun and I enjoyed all the stamps! The to-do list cracked me up and I sooo appreciate you sending a stamp to add to my collection! Absolutely stunning! <3
Comment: I do not always remember the new names of the new star wars movies but we did just see the most recent one in a very very cold theatre in December with our son. He loves them as well as we do and yes we have introduced him to the old ones as well. this card was absolutely delightful and my husband will love it too! we love the old stamps to thanks al!!! it found a good home!
Comment: Hi Al thank you for the "cottage" PC, I love the red door and the dog :) Oh dear, ... the PC I sent to my partner really did have a Mishap...this one is so pristine comparatively .lol. Love the great selection of postage stamps Happy Spring Swapping peace love light
Comment: Thank you for the great wild horse photos. And for using the horse stamps. My I have a niece and her husband who raise and show quarter horses. There is a statue honoring the Buffalo Solders at Fort Leavenworth in Leavenworth KS which is only about 50 miles from me.
Comment: Another wonderful postcard from you Al! Thank you so much for all the delightful stamps that you attached - I'm jealous of your stamp collecting shows (we don't have anything like that here). My favourite one was the Peace Garden one :) Thanks again! From Sophie
Comment: Nice cards, Al - thanks very much! Did you see online the images of gorillas walking up-right? I read that 98% of human to gorilla dna is exactly the same--interesting, but kind of freaky all at the same time!
Comment: What an amazing envelope! I have been working on finishing a junk journal with childrens stories/ gpfairy tales as the theme, and there were some awesome bits in the envie you sent that will go just perfectly there. I also collect old playing cards and was thrilled to find one of those to add to my collection. The envie was just as cute as it could be, and the vintage stamps were the perfect finishing touch! Thank you so much!
Comment: Hi Al, thank you so much for your real-life dollhouse postcard. This would so not be on my travel wishlist! I am not really into dolls, most I find extremely creepy actually. I bet this dollhouse collection has at least a bunch of them creepers :D
Comment: Thank for the postcard. I see the stamp on here is only 6 cents - I am surprised it made it to me, but glad! :) I'm giving you a heart just for the stamp alone - ha! Take care!
Response: that's weird! the other stamp must have fallen off. I was using up all stamps, and adding 6 cents to 29 cents. Though I suppose it's possibe that I missed one and it only had 6 cents! if so, then thank you to the post office! :)
Comment: Hi-just guessing the envelope I got today was from you as there was no name or swap-bot name in it. I have three people that hadn't sent me this swap and under checking their profiles-one is from CA and the other from OK-so thanks to you for the nice mix of items you sent me.Happy Swapping! Update: got the real stuff the envelope from you today and feel it deserves the same rating I gave it before-like the odds and ends you sent me-some fun stuff-thanks for sharing for real! Happy Swapping!
Response: Hello! I included a note with them all, but with 20, it's quite possible I missed including it with one -- doh. You were one of my partners -- mine was a bright orange envelope with old clippings, "sale" stickers, comic panel, etc. thanks for tracking me down! Al
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful Arkansas Card. We visited Hot Springs 24 years ago and spent a couple of days there doing the tourist thing. My favorite was when we did the whole bathhouse experience at the one open one that was remodeled and open to the public.
Response: that's pretty much exactly my same trip, haha. I wish more of the bathhouses were still open
Comment: This was a unique collection of ephemera. One of my favorites. Thanks. I would love more of what you are giving away - it will be greatly appreciated. 😊 if you are looking for something I may have, I would love to return the favor.
Response: Hi Rita, I'll happily send more clippings -- have boxes. No need to send anything, I'm happy to clear the space here!
Comment: Hi Al, Thank you so much for the amazing postcards. I love them all. I did not have the Renoir pc with clown/violin before, also have been hoping for a Hammond ideal typewriter (1890) - rarer than hen's teeth here in Australia and beautiful Mount Robson, Canadian Rockies. Thanks again, so much. Best wishes from Jenny.
Comment: Hi Al, So happy to receive yet another fabulous postcard swap from you! I'm still saving many of the amazing cards you sent me last time! I really like all the cards you sent me this time around :) From Sophie
Comment: A swap bot glitch will not allow me to leave a headt, but I would if I could! What a wonderfully fun selection of vintage and newer goodies to recieve! Thank you so very much, this was truly happy mail!
Response: I will happily accept your virtual "heart" -- haha. Glad you enjoyed it -- I'm so happy to find new homes for these piles!
Comment: Thanks for the strange photo-montage cards, Al. I appreciate your sending them in an envie, but I must admit the Yellow cab company notepaper you wrote on, the comics panels, & the cool older postage stamps on your envie were my favorite pat of the swap!
Response: lots more where that came from -- just ask!
Comment: Thank you very much for all the ephemera, stickers and postcard. I knew when I spotted you as my partner I was going to be pretty happy. I have saved the old highlights magazine you sent last year. I think it’s all so interesting. Have a fantastic New Year! Anytime you want to get rid of ephemera I will be happy to give it a good home ðŸ¡ðŸ‘ðŸ»â¤ï¸
Response: I am slowly filling up envelopes with assorted clippings, so whenever you need a fresh batch, just holler.
Comment: Thank you for the snail PC! I love it! We have a lawn statue of a turtle with a snail on his shell on our front porch. All our delivery people got a kick out of it when we put a little Santa hat and beard on them this Christmas.
Comment: Thank you for the great selection of cards from my wishlist. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have a new card for my Einstein collection, weeeee! Thank you loads and loads, you really made my day!!
Response: I love to find random cards their forever homes -- haha
Comment: Terrific postcard with the accordion player, "Etude pour les Trois Musiciens." I really must play at least a couple of Christmas tunes for the season, or at least Auld Lang Syne. Many thanks for your thoughtful selection.
Comment: SUCH a fantastic card on so many levels - It’s a keeper and will be shared with co-workers also! Thank You! Yes, times have changed in the ol’ Zip, eh? Thanks again for the great PC and for the memory cues :D!!
Comment: What a great pc, Al, thank you! When I first saw it, I thought it was an art pc of an eye. =) Love that it is a nature pc. I haven’tt been to Yellowstone but I would love to visit. You had quite an adventure on your trip...nice.
Comment: Thank you for the thoughtfully selected, beautifully packaged cards, and colorful, fun vintage postage, Al :) I love them all and look forward to putting them on my mood board and, if I must (haha), sending them to fellow postcard lovers :D
Comment: Loved the postcard. i didnt know that the Puffin existed but now I do. I love colours so postcard was great with its colours. Thank you so much for going to the effort to match my profile likes and yes the penguin stamps are great.
Comment: I absolutely know how you feel with this nonsense President Agent Orange. It's gonna be a long four years. Well, three now...just, ugh. Happy to hear you have a new cat! My cats still think they can stand on my shoulders, but NOPE, doesn't work out very well. They do sleep on them when I'm in bed though, which is perfectly fine.
Comment: Thank you for the excellent postcard. I rarely receive postcards about Japan. Kyoto is one of my favorite cities. Also, thanks for sending multiple postage stamps. I didn't have the Smithsonian stamp in my collection.
Comment: We saw a mama bear and her cub on the freeway driving home one evening. Mama chased the bear up the tree and we sat and watched them until they scooted into the woods. I thought it was a dog I had to stop and rescue - sure glad I didn't jump out of the vehicle yelling here doggie, doggie
Comment: Thank you for the wonderful California postcard! Funny enough, I am also a Californian originally. I grew up in Los Angeles and some of the images on your card are some of my favorite things about the state. I too, don't miss the expensive lifestyle or the traffic, ugh! I'm gone back a few times and I realize that I enjoy the laid back Florida lifestyle much more but I do miss the beaches over there. Thank you again! Hope you are well and have a wonderful Halloween.
Comment: Al, I believe you are correct about the bonsai tree on the pc. It does look like a peaceful place to sit and contemplate. I love the look of the raked gravel in the picture, but if I tried that here, every cat in the neighborhood would want to use the "fancy" litterbox! Thanks for sending such a fitting card to me!
Comment: Thanks for the beautiful Italian card! I've never been to Italy but if I were able to go I would also have to do a lot of outdoor excursions to make up for all of the pasta and seafood I'd eat! I hope you make it there someday!
Comment: Great cards - thanks! You obviously read my profile. I especially love my favorites, Bambi and Thumper, skating! Plus you present swaps so beautifully - love the classy tissue sleeve with the "Lite fm" sticker and confidential stamp. Nice of you to use Disney villain postage for me also.
Response: you're quite welcome! I have so many cards, I love the scavenger hunt aspect of trying to match them to the right home. :) (btw, those "classy" tissue sleeves are food-service wrappers, like they use in bakeris to hand you a cookie. haha.)
Comment: Funny enough I got this swap in the mail today!! haha You did send 4 and even an extra!! I loved them all! As usual!!
Thanks for another great swap!!
Hope the rest of your week is better!!
Response: Oh good! :) thanks for letting me know. Best, al
Comment: Hi again, Al! Thank you for being considerate of my likes list! I love it. And yeah, I hadn't heard about the new documentary on Vietnam until I read a really interesting article a few days ago and it said "for more info, watch *whatever it's called*". It's supposed to be really good!
Response: it's like 20 hours long! I'm saving it to my DVR ... might be good for a cold rainy weekend in big chunks.
Comment: PERFECT postcard for me!!!! And guess what? I'm leaving today for a trip to the Cape...I've never heard of Thompson Brothers Clam Bar but I'm going to look while I'm there! Thanks so very much!
PS...and a lighthouse postage stamp!!!!
Response: it's always fun when you know you have just the right card! :) Enjoy your trip. Best, al
Comment: I love Agatha Christie! I have not read all of hers, but I started as a teenager. I have many left to read, but I also feel like I could revisit some that I've already finished. Thanks for such a wonderful PC!
Comment: Hello:)) Thank you so much for very nice postcard from you.
James Dean 's postcard is very nice. I liked to receive from you.
I want to watch his movies now:D
Thank you so much and have a beautiful september <3
Comment: You Definitely read my profile! It's like you and I have been friends for years! I LOVE love LoVvvveeee my package! My 10 year old son was jumping up and down wanting to get his hands on the 1957 Highlights magazine and old comics :D Thank you thank you thank you! 5 star 5 ♥
Comment: Al ~ I did like the image very much and the lady bugs as well. I am so ready for fall too. Fog, cool crisp mornings and football :) It was 102 today . . . that is very hot for our are. Got a few more days of it and lots of smoke from fires. Makes beautiful sunset though.
Comment: You're right, I absolutely dig the Resistance card. Current times have been testing my patience, and the recent events I'm seeing are just mind-boggling. If you get me as a swap partner again know I will be thoroughly pleased with another card like the you had made. Fantastic stuff!
Comment: Eeeek! What an awesome surprise to get a lighthouse pc! It was nice to hear a bit about you as well. We live about 5 1/2 hours from the Gulf of Mexico here. Not too bad of a drive, and I get to pass theMobile Bay lighthouse on the way down!
Comment: OMG! I wasn't expecting all the sand dollar pc's! I will certainly find them loving homes. Thank you too for the card from the hotel, looks like it'd be a lovely place to stop in, but not my kind of place to stay. I do need to make a trip to SF though, my boyfriend is in school there and there are many bucket list items to be checked off in San Francisco! Thank you again!!!
Response: lol, I didn;t realize I had so many until I started rounding them up. I got them for free, so happy they found a home! I technically joined swapbot to get rid of things. :)
Comment: I'm so sorry that it took me so long to rate you. I've been working 10-12 hour days/ 7 days a week for the last 6 weeks and things have been crazy!! Thank you for the cool card. :-) I agree, what the heck?? Love the cool stamps too. Thanks!!
Comment: Thank you for the great postcards Al! I loved the 'special delivery' paper around them too! You sealed it with a 92.9 sticker - did you know we also have a 92.9 radio station here in Perth? The note was also very quirky and I liked the 'Yellow Cab' note paper you used. My favourite postcard was the Island Houses artwork card ("Greetings from St Martin")... but I really did like them all. Thanks again!
Response: you're welcome! I have a huge roll of those 92.9 stickers, from a radio station in my office that as long since changed its format.
Comment: Hi Al, I love the PC you sent with the vintage Tram Train. Awesome, thank you so much! Also loved the variety of postage stamps, esp. the Ford 1965 truck. Happy summer swapping. Blessings of peace love light.
Comment: Thank you, Al, for the lovely cards you chose to fulfill this swap. It's hard to pick a favorite but I really LOVE the swans in front of the Palace of Fine Arts. My daughter and her family live in San Francisco so I see that sight 3-4 times a year. . . it's really beautiful. Also crazy for the vintage card with a tiger mom and her baby and that sweet bunny . . . and who doesn't love rhinos! haha!
Comment: Great to meet you, Al. Thank you for brightening up a rainy afternoon with wonderful profile based postcards. Home Sweet Home had me laughing like a loon - and that was before I saw it was a Ken Brown card! The monkey musicians are a hoot, and I love the nuns parading across the bridge. Such thoughtful choices and so well presented. Your Alien Coloring Book was a delightful lagniappe. Feel welcome to visit my mailbox any time!
Comment: Loved the pc, I grew up on the water, took my 1st steps on my grandparents boat, raced sailboats and actually competed at a state nationals for women, we had a 36' sailboat and I even worked on a small cruise ship so the water is everything to me
Comment: Russia and the Soviet Union intrigue me, but I'm fairly certain, no cheer will be found. Ever. I saw the journalist Masha Gessen speak recently - and left with a heavy heart. Thanks for the postcard! Take care, Al. - Rhonda
Comment: Ahhhh, thank you for the cool Going to the Opera Puffin Card, Al! I've never seen this one :) I also love the great vintage stamps. Thank you for sharing your Independence Day plans with me -- seems like a solid way to have spent the holiday! (I caught up on letter-writing :) Hope you are staying cool!
Comment: Great postcard ! Bang on what i love. Really thankful I got great people for one of my first swap!
I'm not sure about the funny cat toys out of feet but you know... I don't judge... I probably misread that, right? But i couldn't for the life of me, see what else it could be...Anyways it made me laugh!
Response: yikes, my handwriting is dreadful. I am making funny cat toys out of FELT, lol
Comment: Thanks for the Treasure Island pc. I've been told that my aunt, as a 10-year-old, played her guitar (or uke?) with dozens and dozens of other kids as part of a musical review during the Fair. Take care, Al!
Comment: Thanks for choosing cards that both fit the swap and my profile! Of course I especially like Disney World and the elephant art card! I like the touch of tissue wrap, the de la Renta postage and that terrific Butternut squash sticker! How have I not seen those at Whole Foods - I'm always on the lookout for odd stickers!
Response: we have a shop in town called Creative Reuse that is like a thift shop for arts and crafts supplies. Companies are encouraged to donate stuff rather than throw it away. Whole Foods dumps loads of rolls of stickers there, as do hospitals, so I always have a bunch of random stickers. :)
Comment: What an AMAZING postcard! I have never seen anything like it before. Absolutely love it. Thank you so much for reading my profile and sending something I love. It's going into my scrapbook and it will be treasured. Have a great week. Julie xxx
Response: you're quite welcome. Now I'm curious what I sent -- haha
Comment: Love the baby gator and all of the stickers! Last year they found a huge gator along the side of the road after a big storm, they had to catch him and release him somewhere more suitable for him to be!
Comment: Thank you for the Zion card! I wonder if the hike you are talking about is the one that I chickened out on. Angels Landing? I made it about 40 feet up the chains, had a mild panic attack, and turned around.
Response: yup, it was the Angel's Landing hike. I couldn't recall the name. not happy in the scary part, and then of course, you're thinking: i have to come back through on the way down! haha Great view from the top though, and I lived to tell about it.
Comment: Thank you for the stunning Civil War-era day dress -- I noticed that the card is from the Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity exhibition's stop in Chicago; I *loved* that exhibit at the Met Museum! As a music student, I always loved exploring the context and other influences of an era that bred a certain style of music, so it was a real treat to see the preserved (those tiny waists!) fashion, corsets, hats, and other accessories next to the works they inspired. I also really appreciate the Grace Kelly and Freedom to Speak out postage, ladybug stickers, and your take on the outfit; I imagine the woman wearing it wouldn't have had to have gotten dirty :) I am a sucker for bold black-and-white clothes! Happy weekend :)
Response: LOL, you have a better connection than me, having seen the exhibit. (And I'm jealous -- I love fashion, fabrics, etc.) I just found that book of postcards in a thrift shop somewhere. A couple of years ago, I did one month wearing only black and white and gray. Colors I have a lot of, but it was sort of boring after a while. I cannot wear white -- I am a instant magnet for dirt, mustard, etc.
Comment: So thoughtful , great geography lesson today ... the Hotel Del Coronado is amazing WOW we think we have to put it on our bucket list ... and FUNNY second Istanbul PC we got this week and we have extended family that lives there... We love the little reminder of them as well .... THANK YOU extra hearts needed ...
Comment: Well hello neighbor!!! Thank you for this marvelous vintage B&W PC from Rio, I love it! And thanks for the extra bits too :) It looks like you live or work on Smithfield, my daughter used to work in the Oliver Bldg. on Smithfield before she moved to CA. Go Pens!!!!! I hope to see you in another swap soon :D
Response: I work downtown (I get no mail anymore, so I use my work address to brighten up my cubicle) -- I'm at the other end of Smithfield, near 7th street. Yes, hoping Pens wrap this up in 4 games! Best, al
Comment: Hi Al! Thanks so much for the great cat comic postcard with cute cat stickers--that is totally what my cats do when they cause trouble...run and then sit there like nothing happened! Heh! I love watching them too--they're great animals! Thanks again!
Comment: Thanks for the cool postcard. Not many of us have fireplaces down here. If you do, it only gets used maybe twice a year. I will have to look that lodge up. I wonder if its still in business. Have a great weekend. =)
Comment: I love the fall card you sent me (and it is from my preferences!! yay!!!) and all the stickers (especially the tiger!) on the back of the postcard. Thank you for going the extra mile! Thanks again! :-)
Comment: Wow, I absolutely love the three postcards you sent me for this swap, along with the neat vintage stationary you wrote on. This is easily the best piece of mail I've received all week! Would love to do a private swap in the future! Thanks for a wonderful swap =]
Response: I have so much stuff. By all means, send me requests of what you like and I'm happy to fill envelopes. :)
Comment: Thanks for the cards, they were lovely but I must say a huge thanks for taking the trouble to find a guinea pig stamp! I actually squealed when I saw it! It's now cut out and in my piggie collection. So thoughtful of you. Hope you're well xxx
Response: I can't take credit for the stamp -- the USPS recently put out a series of "pets" stamps, and they include quite a lot beyond dog and cat. Glad it found a good home :)
Comment: Thank you for the très chic 1920s lady, awesome vintage stamps, and whimsical stickers (I smiled to see the Pennsylvania one because it reminded me of one of my favorite musicals, Fun Home :) I miss getting dressed up more often -- in college, for master class and noon-time recitals, we were expected to dress up, but there are fewer occasions to perform/dress up nowadays, and I like the ritual/preparation as much as I enjoy dressing down at the end of the day and slipping into my robe, haha. Black jeans do sound chic in their own way :)
Comment: Thank you for the striking Ballard card, Dorothy Parker stamp, lovely stickers, and your book picks, Al! Both sound intriguing :) I will have to give them a look after I finish my current read -- when I sent my card, I was more than halfway through Emma Donoghue's Room (I don't know why I never read it until now, but I have a thing about not watching a film until I've read the book first), but now I am halfway through Spider from Mars: My Life with Bowie by Woody Woodmansey, his talented drummer on four albums. I have Zadie Smith's Swing Time up next. (I try to schedule completely different books in my queue but sometimes get into a particular period/era/genre.) Happy reading!
Response: i too like to read the book before the movie! my next book is one a pal recommended about folks who fake their own death -- Playing Dead by Elizabeth Greenwood.
Comment: Thank you for this wonderful "Did You Know?" PC about the Space Needle, Al! I used to live in Seattle (1998-2013), so I know and love the Space Needle! And that's neat that you were recently in my "new" city of Tucson! (I've lived here now for +4 years.) :-) Thank you for sharing!
Comment: Al, I am thrilled that you deviated over to my preferences list! I LOVE the postcards you sent! Thank you so much! Thanks also for the decorative envelope and interesting stamps you used. 😊
Comment: Hi Al, Wow...thank you for the fabulous Janis Joplin stamp! So cool :) Thank you also for the PC. I have seen a whale while on the ferry from Vancouver Island(where I live) to the mainland. Blessed to be living here in BC.I love thrift store shopping!!! Happy Spring swapping. Blessings of peace love light.
Comment: Wish I could give you 2 hearts! Perfect swap. Each card was a perfect match, so much that I will never pass them along. Each one will have a special place on my wall. I even loved the envelope and the stickers.
Comment: I love the Swiss Alps, and would love to visit there some day as well! Thank you for the postcard! I loved it! If you want to send stuff back and forth, message me and I'll give you my address or vice versa. Have a wonderful week!
Comment: Hi Al. i received your pc today and wanted to say thank you. also apolozize for 'banning' you for an earlier swap i hosted and if it hasnt been assigned yet i plan on letting u in. i get leery bout peeps with no ratings cause i have had flakers and it makes it harder for the good ones. thank you for the vintage lighthouse and awesome stickers. you are a GREAT partner. thanks. welcome to swap bot and your 1st rating. i feel special being the 1st. have a GREAT day
Response: no worries about the "ban." I have since read more FAQs and understand the quite reasonable banning practice. I had just signed up, and that banning email was the very first message I received, so it was a bit of a "what?" haha. I am happy the lighthouse card found it way to a good home. :) Best, Al
