Comment: I apologise for such a delayed rating! Everything about this was absolutely gorgeous and stunning, and ahh! I loved it to pieces! Thank you so so much for the beautiful Christmas Card and for the two Christmas Wishes in different languages, it made me so over-the-moon-happy to read them ( I was practically dancing around the house, I was that happy). Thank you! I hope you had the most lovely Christmas, and I hope this year is even lovelier for you!!!
Comment: Philip, it was fun to see your name on the envelope again. Hope all is going well with you as another year, miraculously, is nearly to its end! I cannot tell why it goes so much faster--seemingly--each year. April will be my big 70 birthday--GULP! 50 and 60 didn't bother me but 70 is a great looming, gigantic leap into what seems "old." So, I'll have to make 70 the new 50 and 80 the new 60, if one follows the paths set by women's magazines and the media in general here in the States. I do hope you are safe and stay that way through all of the turmoil in France recently. My son and his fiancee (to be) were in Germany for Christmas last year. I'm glad it is not this year! They were at a cathedral (Episcopal) in Germany but not far from France for Christmas Eve mass. He proposed when they came out of the church and all of the bells were ringing! He's my "romantic" and daughter is this is how it works, matter of fact---she's an attorney, go figure! Thanks for the postcard. I finally got one of mine back after quite a far-flung international journey. If another doesn't come soon, I shall start a new one.
Comment: majQa' I really like my hedgehog card! You must have read my profile pretty closely! :) Your profile was an interesting read. I wish I had bilingual experience as a youngster -- that certainly is the prime time to learn other languages. Have seen you around the 'bot but don't remember having swapped with you before (your avatar is 'da bomb!!) It was a pleasure. Qapla'!
Response: I'm glad you liked the card, and I'm tickled by the Klingon in your response! Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the nice card, I love that is has English and German writing on the front! Drawing lots for presents is a fun family tradition, I've been thinking to get my family started on it as well :)
Comment: wow, seems forever since you and I were partnered. It was a very pleasant surprise to find your pc in my mailbox this afternoon! Wow...not many people can say they held open the door for The Pope. I enjoyed reading all your random facts and hope you enjoy (enjoyed) the visit with your daughter. I guess we moved from Kathleen to Byron about 6 months ago. We live in a super small town (seriously little) on 4.5 acres of land. We love it out here. ♥ Thanks again for always being a great partner. :)
Comment: Postcard received and ready to go on it's next adventure. Thank you very much for the beautiful postcard you included for me, I love it! I will be sure to pass along the coupon to the next person too, that is very kind of you! I didn't know you could do that.
Thanks again and happy swapping! =)
Comment: What a pleasant surprise to get your package! I certainly was happy to get the pistachios and the tea! I tried one tea last night and one this morning and, really, I liked them both very much! Thank you! As far as pistachios here, I just looked today and at the local Walmart, they had both shelled and unshelled. I noticed you sent unsalted, and that is difficult to get around here; all are salted or "lightly salted". I like them either way. Thank you for a great package! I even liked the pc holding the tea! Thank you again and again!
Response: I'm glad you liked what I sent you :) Thank you for the heart!
Comment: I will forward these PC’s on to their next journey. Thank you very much for sending them.
As a postage stamp collector, I have to thank you for the beautiful stamps you put on the envelope they will make great addiction to my collection.
Comment: Your postcard came on one of the hottest days of the week, so the snow filled postcard did cool me down! Just the thought of seeing snow would be amazing. I am so glad you got to see your daughter and meet her future family. I think it would be hard but knowing that she is happy and safe is always reassuring. I am so glad that you and your daughter enjoyed the visit!
Comment: Wow what a wonderful and thoughtful package I have received from you. I truly did enjoy reading the letter you wrote and trying the local chocolates you sent. Thank you for the letter, sweets, and pens! I will be sending yours ASAP- I have the drawings sketched out but not yet colored/shaded.
Comment: Ups, etwas verspätetes Rating, sorry! Danke für die schöne Karte :) Ich wünsche dir weiterhin wundervolle Weihnachtstage und ein glückliches Jahr 2018! Liebe Grüße in die Nachbarschaft :D
Comment: My family is just the same as your family in the yearly gathering of all the children and grandchildren. I think it is my mother in law's favorite time of year just for the small army of children who run around the house, gobbling up all the sweets that only grandma would let them eat, lol...
Have a wonderful and safe Christmas.
Comment: Philip♥ thanks so much for the great card and better message inside. I loved reading about your family and traditions. I hope they continue and grow forever and that you have the best holiday season ever. Much love always!! ♥♥
Comment: I also grew up (and still am) LDS as well. I do so wish we did more than an early in the season Ward party and Christmas service the Christmas before. But, we spend Christmas Eve with family at home, reading the Christmas story from the Bible. My daughter (who is helping me open cards) would like to add: On Christmas Eve we get pizza and me and my brother get pajamas and we read a family story that has been around for a looong time. -Annabelle
Response: Thank you for telling me a little about your Christmas, and for the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the cute card! I LOVE the chickens checking out the present! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you as well!!! My family always does a "traditional" Christmas dinner with turkey and ham, corn bread stuffing, and all the "trimmings". For dessert it's pumpkin pie or pecan pie. My favborite is pecan pie. I don't care for the taste of pumpkin.
Comment: Thanks! (uggh! hope the crown is all fixed!)
Response: Yes, fortunately! The emergency dentist put it back in temporarily, and I visited my regular dentist just yesterday who put it back on permanently. (At first she thought I might need to get a new one made because she had to remove some suspicious spots underneath the crown, but in the end she managed to put the old one back on, saving me about $500. Yay!)
Comment: Thank you for the facts about the church history! I will have to google and turn it into a history lesson for my children. I love the picture on the postcard. I'm really into rocks and nature. Take care
Comment: Philip I am writing this comment at 9:36am Australian time and the sun is shining and we are supposed to have a few days of nice warm weather. I will send you positive sunshine vibes! Thanks for the postcard and I hope you can get as much into the short days as possible!
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful scenic postcard! I am looking forward to going to Washington and Oregon, but there are many fires there right now, so hopefully it will clear up soon so we can see the sunrise/sunsets!
Comment: Belated thank you for the adorable duck card and lovely floral and rabbit postage; the tulip made me smile especially because they are one of my favorite flowers, and I just saw and am almost finished reading Tulip Fever. Happy practising/learning -- I loved studying languages in high school and college and really want to get back into it. (My younger sister is teaching herself Japanese.) ♥
Comment: I am scared of swimming to far in the ocean (massive fear of what is underneath the water) so I have never competed in a marathon or triathlon. My biggest walk to date in competition is 6km. But next year I will aim to do something big!
Comment: Hey Philip it is so nice to swap with you again. I love so much the wonderful details you included. I am so jealous you have it warm already only today did we get to 6 C and after our cold winter if feels like 25 C in comparison to the artic cold...lol. Thank you so much for the two additional cards they are right up my alley and I love them. As always you are an awesome swapper =D.
Comment: Hi Philip!! Thanks for the extra card and coupon! Your PC is on its way home! My small local post office was out of international round stamps so I used the smallest stamps I could find as you requested!
Response: Thank you very much! I'm looking forward to seeing it again :)
Comment: Great swap, thanks for hosting this! Thanks for all the postcards. I will send yours back to you with real stamps. Monday is a national holiday, Presidents Day, so no mail service. It'll go by Tuesday! And I've never heard of those cartoon charachters, fun stuff!
Merci pour ta carte postale de Tonder. Non, j'y n'etais pas encore, mais ca m'interesse, parce que j'aime beaucoup l'architecture de la Gothique-brique. C'est vrai que le SH-billet suffice? Formidable!
Comment: Thank you for the great card and all the wonderful treats enclosed! I love the postcards especially! They are fantastic additions to the collection! I appreciate the time you took to read my profile and send things I love. =) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
Response: Yay! I'm glad you liked them! And the same to you :)
Comment: Thank you for the PC with your lovely message. I like learning a little about people and places, and animals. :) You are right -- my surname is Finnish (though I am not). My husband is from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where many Finns immigrated and settled.
Comment: HI Philip, thank you so much for the unique postcard. Thank you for translating the caption for me! I will cherish this postcard forever. My first mail from Germany! I'm so happy and excited :)
Comment: Oops! I received the card yesterday and could've sworn I rated, but apparently not! (oh the things you find when you go to rate other partners!) Anyway - thanks for the awesome card! Love all that you wrote! Really made me smile (and giggle!) I wouldn't know if it was right or wrong, so you're good, haha!
Response: I'm glad you liked it so much; thanks for rating and for the heart :) Though I confess I don't remember what I wrote to you!
Comment: Hi Philip, thanks for the chunk! There are similar cereals sold here (they're pretty new), but I've never tried them. Here they are, I just looked them up: Kellogg's® Frosted Mini-Wheats Little Bites® Chocolate cereal!
Response: Interesting, thanks! Yes, those do look similar, though the ones in Germany don't have the chocolate ones frosted, just the raison ones and the ones without filling.
Comment: Phillip - Your card arrived yesterday and I love it. the larger size is perfect and the stamps are great. Hope you had a great Christmas and that this year is a great one for you.
Comment: I actually rated you for this a while back but it didn't register, so here goes again! Sorry for the lateness :,) / Thanks for telling me about your tradtions, we share some treats but also it's interesting how you wait for the 25tth to open gifts. In Finland, or at least with my family, it's always the 24th :D the Finnish version was total gibberish by the way, but that's Google translate for you :D
Response: Thanks for checking on the rating and sending it again :) And yay for gibberish :D
Comment: The English version was maybe not that bad, but the Estonian one!... First I laughed out loud a couple of times... then hit the desk with my head... Why does your wife not want to "abdeckelt" for me a house, but rather, an electric stove? Oh and sending children to Mass - that became sending children to fair in English and sending children to something rightful(=fair) in Estonian...
I could almost understand the German version, though. :)
Response: Haha, fun! That's the sort of thing that can identify the "middle" language used in such a translation... and where you have to think around two corners to realise what the original text *might* have been before you can understand it! (equitable/rightful = fair = exhibition = Messe = Mass) I'm glad you had some fun with the translation, and thanks for hosting the swap and for the heart!
Comment: Hi Phillip! What a fun Ad/Free pc! Thanks for translating it and yes, that does remind me of the note passing thing, which might be a lost art due to cell phones - sigh! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Halloween is fast approaching and every thing here is gearing up for it. It is on a Saturday so we will either have a ton of kids come to the door or parents will just run their kids around a few houses and then go to grown-up parties. Time will tell. It was rainy here today and the leaves are falling fast now.
Comment: Hey Philip, thanks for choosing a map postcard even though the postcard's theme was sender's choice and not profile based! Unfortunately no hearts or smileys besides the ones you drew.
Response: Bummer, thanks for letting me know and thanks for the heart!
Comment: Hello Philip! Thank you for the most beautiful & unique handmade postcard! I have never been to Paris but have always wanted to visit there. I will be sending on the postcard the next round...thank you and best wishes to you!
Response: Thank you for the lovely comment and I'm glad you liked the postcard! Thanks for sending on the travelling postcard—I’m glad a new co-ordinator stepped up!
Comment: Philip: Thanks a million for the newspaper, letter, and extra goodies! Love the cards, which are much needed! Love the Wiki present list; great idea! And two gift giving times and traditions...how interesting. Thanks again.
Comment: Awesome chunk! I usually eat for breakfast a piece of fruit, a Vitatop muffin (basically a vitamin enriched top of a muffin) and sometimes some kind of protein, like nuts, cheese, or a small piece of sausage/meat. When I am not on a diet, I usually eat random things that aren't breakfast foods!
Response: I’ve never heard of muffin tops being sold separately before! Fun :) Thanks for your reply, and I’m glad you liked my chunk of cardboard!
Comment: Dear Philip! Thank you very much for so yummi selection of choco bars!!! Despite the fact it's late night now I can't stop to try them:) tomorrow I will need more exercises in fitness club:)
By the way, you are very good in Russian handwriting! Where did you learn?
Response: I’m glad you like them! It was fun picking them out :) I learned Russian handwriting many years ago from my then-girlfriend, who had grown up in East Germany and learned Russian at school. (I could already ready printed Cyrillic, but she taught me the handwriting.)
Comment: Dear Philip...!:) Thank you very very nice for absolutely great card!:) But not only card...Thank you very very much for time you gave to me when you wrote it to understandable language... woooow :) You made my day!:) Thank you...All the best..L.
Response: Dear Lucie, thank you for your comment! I’m glad that you liked my card and the message, and that you could understand what I wrote, even though I couldn’t write it in Czech! And thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thanks for the great PC of Hamburg, Philip! My hubby was in the Army and stationed in Germany many years ago, and I hope to get to visit your country one day. He told me that if you have a German friend, you've made a friend for life :)
Response: That may well be! Yes, friendship seems to be treated differently here: it’s not so easy to make a friend, but on the other hand, once you really have a friend, you have a friend. Thank you for your rating and for the heart!
Comment: Thanks for the gorgeous PC!! Hope your studies are going well :) and thanks for hosting such an interesting swap!!
Response: Thank you; I’m glad you liked the card and the swap, and thank you for the heart! I’m enjoying the swap, too :) Now I just have to wait till September for the results from my Esperanto exam!
Comment: Philip! Thank you so much for such a wonderful postcard! :D My birthday just passed too, so it was very fitting hehe! I would love to visit Germany someday... I traveled to Italy and Greece 2 years ago and one of the airports we stopped in along the way was Frankfurt. I couldn't get over how clean it was, and how nicely dressed the people were! Lol... The group I was with felt very out of place as we were all dressed in hoodies and sweatpants/leggings, and it seemed as if everyone else was dressed as if they were ready for a Calvin Klein shoot! Very cool place, I'm sad I couldn't leave the airport and would love to have a proper visit someday! Anyways, sorry for the ramble... lol! And thanks again for the adorable pc! :D xoxo Kat <3
Response: Thank you for your lovely comment and for the heart! I’m glad you liked the card I sent you, and please do come to Germany some day! And there’s more to it than just Neuschwanstein Castle :)
Comment: It was such a pleasure to read your letter, thank you for taking the time. I felt like I learned so much more from your letter than I have recently by reading whole magazines or books! I'd be happy to send a reply if you wouldn't mind?
Response: Thank you for your lovely comment and for the heart! Go ahead and send a reply if you’d like; just be aware that I’m horrible at keeping up a pen-friendship in terms of replying promptly :)
Comment: Thank you for the lovely postcard you sent me!! I love Austrian landscapes, it's so beautiful!! I visited Tirol once during summer and it was really nice! I'd love to visit it again during winter - the Alps covered in snow must be an amazing view!
Response: You’re welcome—I’m glad you liked the view! I love mountain landscapes :) Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thank you, Philip, for the postcard and the description of where you work. It is interesting how they convert buildings into office space. For a few years I worked in a converted factory. It had high ceilings and was very cold in winter. I love your PRIORITY sticker.
Response: Thanks you for the comment! I had fun making those as well :) I made them for Postcrossing first and then decided to make some swap-bot themed ones as well. And it’s kind of interesting to work in an old corn silo… one of the conference rooms (at the corner) has rounded walls (remains of one of the tubes) and that’s kind of unusual. Thanks for telling me about your old work place and for the heart!
Comment: Well I am disappointed not to receive those stickers but it sounds as though you've gone to great lengths to make things right. Thanks for a fun swap and a unique card - my mail lady gets to deliver the most exciting things in the village!
Response: It was definitely a fun swap :) I’m glad you enjoyed it as much as I did, and thanks for giving me another chance to get you those stickers :D Thanks also for the heart!
Comment: Thanks so much for sending me a Cornwall postcard, I so want to visit there
Response: When I read that bit in your profile, I was glad I had just been there and still had a couple of postcards from there! it’s a place of its own. Do visit there one day :) And thank you for the heart!
Comment: Philip thank you for another wonderful postcard! I love the great grey owl and the postage stamp is beautiful too! Interesting how you live in Hamburg, Germany and I live right next to the town of hamburg! Best wishes to you! And thank you for hosting too!
Response: That is an interesting coincidence! And I see that there’s even a Newton Road in (your) Hamburg! Perhaps I should have delivered the card by hand if we’re that close :) Thanks for participating and for the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful postcard! Also, yes I am Vietnamese. :) Well, sort of. My mom is half Viet and half Chinese and my dad is full Chinese. His family (and my mom's dad) immigrated to Vietnam, so we identify as Viet. I can also speak it. Which by the way, love the fact that you knew how to write my last name in both languages!
Response: Yay for your parents teaching your their language! I’m a strong fan of bilingual child-raising, having enjoyed the privilege myself. My dentist used to share her practice with a lady called Trần as well! (And I got treated by her once when my dentist was on holiday, and I asked her to write her name for me in Vietnamese and Chinese.) I’m glad you liked the postcard, and thank you for the heart!
Comment: I think the way you got 'pne' is cool! If I was in your shoe at that point of time, it'd probably be 'eth'. Sounds a little.... weird. Haha! Thanks for sharing the interesting background!
Response: ‘Eth’ reminds me of several things! It’s the name of the letter à ð ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eth ); it’s ‘(he) went’ in Cornish (which I’m currently learning); and ETH stands for ‘Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule’ (‘[Swiss] Federal Institute of Technology’) in the name of a Swiss university in Zurich! Thanks for reading my account and for the heart!
Comment: Thanks for the walk down memory lane – I remember what computers were like way back when! From what I gathered from your write-up, you're still working for the same company… that's loyalty!
Response: Yes, at least if "the same" is defined by the people I work with :) Since it has changed hands, been merged, etc., but our department is essentially the company I started my first job in years and years ago. Thanks for reading my story and for the heart!
Comment: Dankon, Philip, for the addition to my forest... It's a lovely tree. Until I get my comuputer fixed so I have sound again I'm still not doing much about learning Esperanto... BUT - the scary thing is I understood everything you said in this last PC of yours! I guess I'm learning it by osmosis!
Response: Thank you for your comment; I’m glad you liked it! And I’m glad you understand what I said! Osmosis, perhaps, yes :) Thank you also for the heart!
Comment: It was interesting to read about your nickname story and it's funny how people get use to their first names :)
Response: Thank you for reading it and for the heart! Yes, the first name is somehow special, I guess. (And I also still remember the password I got assigned by my very first Internet provider, who was a friend of mine.)
Response: Thank you! It’s a bit special, I think, because there just aren’t that many three-letter usernames, so I’m glad it was free—and I didn’t have to pick a long name and then add digits to it because even the long name by itself was taken! Thank you for the heart, too!
Comment: Thank you for your package! It was neat and well compiled, and how toughtful of you to send the book in my native language - for your belief system it's probably easier though, because of all the material available! I really like the stones you sent too, they have such a nice feel to them.
Response: Thank you for your kind words and for the heart! It was an interesting swap, thinking about what to get your partner, and how to present your beliefs. And I was worried for a while that I might have mis-guessed your native language (say, if it had been Swedish, which would make sense given your name); I'm glad I guessed right :) And yes, there are translations available in over 100 languages, I think. And I’m glad you like the stones!
Comment: I agree! My e-mail inbox just got blown up! Geeze, where are all the flakers?! I joined expecting only three ratings and I've already got six! =) I enjoyed your comments! Man that was a strange thread!
Response: I know, right?! Thanks for your part of the fun, and for the heart!
Comment: Wow this package definitely weighed more than 100g! Thank you so much for all the different types you sent. We have some Ritter Sport varieties in the UK but I haven't managed to find the mint one yet, the last time I had some was 2004 on holiday in Fuerteventura! It has to be one of my all time favourites, thank you!
Response: Yay! I always love putting together this kind of swap and I'm glad I could make you happy with what I sent :) Thank you for your comment and for the heart!
Comment: Hi Philip! Thank you so much for the beautiful map postcard- I love the stitch detailing! Also, thank you for being such an awesome swap coordinator/host! You're doing such a great job (very organized) & I'm so happy to have participated in this!
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you liked the postcard and thank you for the heart!
Comment: <3 <3 <3 <3 Woooowwww, you have given me all the postcards that ever existed. I haven't even looked through them all yet. Sorry that the rating is a tad late; I have been travelling and haven't been home to check the post. Thank you so much for joining my swap. <3 <3 <3
Response: Thank you for the lovely rating! I'm glad you liked what I sent you!
Comment: Oh boy! You have made my day! The box of postcards was received with much surprise and joy!! It is such a blessing that you do not know how to count to 5!!! LOL!!! Thanks very, very, very much! If I could give you more than a heart, it would be infinity of hearts then!!! Thanks for spoiling me and I am really grateful to get you as my partner!! Thanks again!!!
Response: I'm so glad that I could make you this happy! I feel I really earned this heart, and it makes me happy, too, that you like what I sent so much!
Comment: Hallo Philip!
Comment: Hello Philip, I received your ATC thank you very much it is lovely, great to see another zentangler, if your going to Cornwall from London you will come through my home town of Exeter. i recommend for a great day shopping and some good food to visit st ives. (lovely if a bit hilly) enjoy your visit to the uk
Response: Thank you for the recommendation! I'll see whether I can fit St Ives in, then :) Thank you also for the heart!
Comment: Hello Philip! Thank you for the gorgeous woodland waterfall postcard from Germany. You are so impressive to take a journey & learn a new language this year. Best regards for your special language class.
Response: I'm glad you liked the card! Thank you for your good wishes and for the heart :)
Comment: WOW, so many! I love 'em all, thanks so much. I used to live near the Rhein River, so seeing it on a postcard is like visiting Germany again. I love Australia, and the Oriental postcard is very unique. The only way I can give more hearts is like <3, <3, <3! :)
Response: The Chinese one is pretty special, isn't it! I'm glad you liked them -- thank you for your lovely comment and for the heart!
Comment: Such a beautiful card! Thank you so much i love it :) I hope you got your train ticket and enjoy your holiday! lots of love xx
Response: You're welcome! And I've got the three most important tickets now :) The return one not quite as cheap as I had hoped, but at least this way I don't have to leave at 5 o'clock in the morning! Thanks for the heart :)
Comment: Thank you for this awesome postcard! I wonder if man will ever step on the moon again...
Response: I'm glad you liked it -- I thought it was pretty special, too! Thanks for the heart! And you're right; I've wondered that sometimes, too. Perhaps the Chinese will in a few decades' time, now that their Space program is growing?
Comment: What a perfect card for me!!! I absolutely love it, although she looks more like a fairy than an elf. :) I have a little frame that is perfect for it and will display it. Thank you for the beautiful card (and I love that it is from a children's book) and the kind sentiments you wrote. Yes, this is the first swap between us...the first of hopefully many! (and I can see that it was 11~12~13 for you!) Thank you for the pretty stamps, too. :)
Response: I'm so glad I could make you happy with that card I picked for you! And glad that the postmark turned out properly :) Thank you also for the heart!
Comment: You know,I forget about these swap until I saw pc today in my mailbox.=o)I love book illustration so card was good selected. We decorated our tree a week a go,couldn't wait any more.Good that you ask and well informed, here we celebrate Christmas on January the 7th.Happy holidays Philip and have a happy New Year with your family.
Response: Thank you for your good wishes and for the heart! All the best to you, too, and many happy swaps in 2014!
Comment: Thank you very much, Phillip, for the very nice note and postcard. If the cereal looks as good as it does on the box, it looks yummy.
The "heart" is for writing a nice note. I also like "notes", it makes the swap a lot more personable for me.
Response: You're welcome! It was good :) Thank you for the heart and for letting me know what you liked about my swap!
Comment: Thank you for the cute card! Your holiday traditions sound lovely. I can't remember the last time my whole family got together. Considering my family, that's probably for the best ;) Have a great holday!
Response: I suppose I can really count it as a blessing that my sisters and I get along as well as we do! We always look forward to meeting up. Thank you for reading my card and for the heart! Happy holidays to you, too!
Comment: Hi Philip, I am sorry for the late rating on this one. As mentioned on my profile, I was travelling. Came back to find your two PC's waiting for me. Thank you so much. As usual I really enjoyed reading them. I hope you travel to nunavut very soon! (I had never heard of this place!) For your other card, interesting to read about telepathy as a super power - I have seen a couple of movies with this concept - yes it definitely must be switchable! :) Btw, I love the Elektrowagon Stamp - Surprisingly, the postcard came with no postmark, so the stamp is clean! Thank you so much and you really write the most interesting messages! :)
Response: I'm glad you liked my messages - thank you for the compliment and the heart! Let's see whether Nunavut will be in my near future :)
Comment: СчаÑтливого РождеÑтва и Ðового года Ð´Ð»Ñ Ð²Ð°Ñ Ð¸ вашей Ñемьи! Thanks for the awesome card Philip! I LOVE Germany! Especially at Christmas! Cheers, Theresa
Response: Большое тебе ÑпаÑибо! Thank you for your Christmas wishes and for the heart!
Comment: Your Korean skills are impressive! I didn't even know that they had International Reply Coupons. This is so neat that I kind of want to keep it! But, I'll try to find a good use for it. Thanks so much!
Response: ê³ ë§ˆì™€ìš”! Thanks for the compliment and for the heart! I'm glad you liked the International Reply Coupon :)
Comment: Hi Philip, Apologies for the late rating on this one. Thank you for participating in this swap with me. As always, it was a good experience. Very happy with the die cut birds - going to use it for a decoupage box that I am making. Thank you for the postcards you sent for me - esp. the squirrel - its so cute - I will have to do another 'self addressed postcard swap' for some of them!
Response: Thank you for the heart, and I'm looking forward to getting my postcards back! I'm glad you liked the postcards that were for you and that the birds made it to you well!
Comment: Thank you so much for the whole newspaper! I really appreciate it! When I got the package I couldn't believe how thick it was, and when I opened it it's really wide! I've never actually had a newspaper from out of the country before =) The bookmark is beautiful, very serene. Thank you!!
Comment: Thank you for the lovely Hamburg card, Philip! This ship is beautiful. And you're right - I very rarely seek out tourist destinations locally. I guess we just take our localities for granted! You should go someday and check it out! I would if I were traveling there! I hope you have a wonderful day and rest of the week! Thank you so much! :)
Response: I guess I should now, shouldn't I! Thanks for the heart and the kind comments -- you have a good time, too!
Comment: Thank you. You went well beyond the requirements for the swap! I love the extra postcards and the candy was delicious especially the darker chocolate. You made me and several coworkers very happy today.
Response: "Aus der Not eine Tugend machen" :) Since I had to use a bigger "envelope" anyway due to the width of the one card, I thought I might as well use the extra weight allowance that comes with the next higher size. I'm glad you liked the things I decided to include! You're welcome, and thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the lovely pc. What a unique and beautiful lighthouse. They look quite different from the ones we have here.
Response: You're welcome! I have a number of lighthouse postcards and it is interesting to see how different buildings can look even though they have essentially the same purpose. My prototypical lighthouse is cylindrical with red and white stripes, but there are all sorts of other appearances. Thank you for the heart!
Comment: I'm so sorry for the late rating. I thought I'd rated everyone for this swap already! SORRY! Wow, what a difference! Your desk and side shelf are beautiful now! I hope you've managed to keep it that way!
Response: I wish! I could start all over again :p Ah well, it's an office, not a museum... but it could do with a bit of tidying up again one of these days. Thanks for rating and for the heart -- and for your kind words!
Comment: I'm out of words :O I really don't know what to say. This is the most PERFECT swap ever .. the books look more than amazing, I never heard about them before, and that's so cool :) I really can't wait to read them. And then the MOST amazing bookmark that is already in my book :) and nice hot chocolate. Thank you is not even enough. Thank you a million times :)
Response: Yay! So glad to have made you so happy! Thank you for the heart and even more for the lovely words expressing your feelings! I wish you many happy hours with the books :)
Comment: I got your beautiful PC from Germany finally. Thank you for checking with me on receiving it. I liked the postage stamp you used on it too. I appreciate the phrase interpretations too. I hope that you are enjoying the Fall.
10/15 I received a second PC from you today on this swap. I am going to send you another PC to make up for this 2nd PC. I enjoyed reading about your family. thank you for sharing. ellie
Response: Thank you for your communication about the postcard! I'm glad the postcard finally arrived and that you liked the stamp and the text. Thank you for the heart! I wish you a pleasant autumn, too!
Comment: I received your re-send postcard today! Thanks a lot!
Response: And it arrived in time for the next round, even! Still, a pity that the original card didn't make it (yet?). Thank you very much for letting me know that it hadn't arrived and for accepting this solution - and thank you for the heart!
Geht mir also ähnlich wie dir :) Danke fürs Herz!
Comment: Dear Philip! I'm so-so happy! You did not only my wish but also my dream - the book Alice in Wonderland!!! I like postcard very much, and bookmark is really cute:) How do you know about my favorite chocolate Ritter Sport? I was very nice surprised:) thank you very much - you made my day:)
Response: Thank you for your kind words and for the heart - I wanted to send you a surprise to bring a smile to your face and it seems that I succeeded :) Seeing you happy makes me happy, too! And I'm glad you like the Ritter Sport chocolate - I had seen "chocolate" on your wishlist so I sent you some - how good that I managed to get your favourite kind! That was pure luck, though :) This is my favourite kind of swap, where I manage to make someone very happy! Thank you!
Comment: Gorgeous postcard (crazy how such pretty flowers are growing between two huge rocks!)! I love how there's a gardening theme going one :D Thank you for sharing your garden goodies with me! My plot definately wouldn't not have enough room for potatoes and the weather here is much too cold to grow tomatoes (I've tried! *pouts*). We currently have (and do well with) lettuce, peas, carrots, radish and beets and I have strawberries and blueberries but the birds steal them before we get to them most of the time :P
Response: I thought the picture on the card was pretty interesting, too - I wonder how they manage to take hold there! Not all of our produce turns out well, either - practically all of the apricots on the tree are white and shrivelled, for example; I wonder what exactly they have. But my wife loves gardening and I'm glad she managed to get that plot! Sounds like you enjoy yours just as much :) Thank you also for the heart!
Comment: What an awesome Sea Horse PC. I love it...the message on the back was very informative...seems I recall watching a show about sea horses and they mentioned about the eye moving independent of each other...anyway great swap. Thank You bunches!
Response: When I saw that card in the shop, I thought that would be something that you would like, and I'm glad I could make your day a bit happier with it! You're very welcome, and thank you for your comment and the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the cute postcard. I wish I was brought up Bi-lingual. I hope you and Amy are well!
Response: Thank you, we are! I count it as a great gift that I received and I'm happy to be able to pass it on. From my own family, I know that not all children accept that offer equally - some refuse to speak the minor language at some point. So I'm glad that Amy still speaks English with me. Thank you also for the heart!
Comment: That looks like it was tasty cereal! But what sounds even better is the shredded wheat with chocolate inside! I will have to go to a European market and see if I can find some! I usually have toast with almond butter for breakfast.
Response: I've never heard of almond butter before! I guess it's like peanut butter, just made from almonds? And here's the cereal I meant: http://www.kelloggs.de/de_DE/toppas-choco-product.html . Thanks for the heart and for sharing your breakfast with me!
Comment: Oh. My. Goodness. -- I've always thought swaps are meant to make someone happy and to receive something that makes us happy, but your package goes far beyond that! I'm completely extatic, you found all my favorite snacks (and the Niederegger tea, YAYYYY!) and much more!!! Thank you SO much, I can't wait to try everything and I'm ready to taste the Redlefsen sausages with rye crackers and a good HB bier tonight... Vielen Dank!!!
Response: I'm glad everything arrived well! I was afraid Italian Post might hide it somewhere and deliver it three weeks later :D. It was fun going shopping for you and picking out things I thought you'd like; I'm glad I could make you happy with the contents! I hope the sausages are OK. Enjoy your new snacks and don't eat everything at once ;) Thank you very much for putting your feelings into words, and for the heart! Auch dir: gern geschehen!
Comment: Received your awesome package today! At first, I was surprised at your clear writing especially my address in korean! =D And all of these goodies are AWESOME!! You sent all of my favorite brands, and typical german biscuits are great too. Can't wait to share these with my friends. It really made my day, danke schön. =)
Response: That was quick! I'm glad it arrived safely and hope you will enjoy the contents :) It was fun picking out things that I thought you would like! Thank you also for your kind comments on my Korean handwriting, and for the heart! And: Gern geschehen!
Comment: Thank you for the nice letter. A lot of the bands I listen to are from Germany. Welle:Erdball are kinda strange, but reallu fun, especially in concert.
Response: I've never been to concerts much but I can imagine that it's quite a different thing seeing a group live. (The last concert I went to, I was annoyed at the many people holding cameras in the air, blocking my view... despite the notice saying no pictures allowed, moving or still). Thank you for the rating and the heart!
Comment: I see that you're a stacker like me. I think it looks awesome after! The map looks especially neat.
Response: I never knew there was a name for the kind of cltter I tend to accumulate :) I must have inherited it - I remember my father's desk always had a 6-inch covering of various magazines etc. on top of it, that he would then write on top of :) Once my little sister tipped the desk over by mistake and everything fell down - for a while afterwards, the desk was tidy again! The map writing surface I got as a present - it's a bit soft and so writing on it doesn't make marks in the desk itself. Unfortunately, I once put a dinner plate on it that was still warm and now I have a permanent ring-shaped indentation on it where the warm plate softened the plastic cover enough right under it and sank into it a little. Thanks for taking part in my swap and thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thanks for the card. I loved the story behind it and I'm glad you took the time to write it :)
Response: I'm glad you read about it! I got such a card through Postcrossing (from Jenny's mother) and ordered a few of them from the foundation to send to others to share the message. Thank you for the heart!
Comment: I loved both of the postcards you sent! Hey, I'm into languages and writing systems, too: would it be OK if I wrote you a letter about my interests?
Response: Sure! I'm always up for talking about languages and writing systems :) I'm a pretty horrible pen-friend, though (I tend to take longer and longer to respond), so as long as you're not expecting a long-lasting "relationship", go ahead! Thanks also for the heart :)
Comment: thank you for sharing. i enjoyed reading your email. in Vancouver, we have something called the "pne" at the end of the summer. it is a fair with rides and animal exhibitions and concert series. cheers!
Response: That was a quick rating :) Thank you! Perhaps I shall have to visit Vancouver's PNE one day... and also Preston North End football club... those two tend to come up for "pne" :) Thank you also for the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful card! I enjoyed reading it! I saw your address on the card. If you would be interested in getting mail from me let me know and I will put something in the mail!
Response: Thank you for your kind words and the heart! If you'd like to send something in response - I'd love to receive it! If you were looking for something more regular and back-and-forth, though, I'm really bad at keeping up pen-friendships so that wouldn't work out so well.
Comment: Thank you for the lovely postcards for me. The one with the fairy is adorable. I will send yours on Friday (I'm out of stamps an d will be able to go to the post office only than). Have a great day!
Response: I'm glad you liked the cards! And thank you for sending mine back to me - I'll let you know when it gets here :) Thank you for the heart!
Comment: You did such a great job on your office -- I'm inspired!
Response: Thank you! I'm pretty glad at how it turned out, too... and it didn't even take as long as I had feared! Thank you for the original swap and for taking part in this one. And thank you for your kind words and the heart!
Comment: Thanks for the postcard! I love hearing stories like this, how things come from nearby. The cereal on the front looks pretty good too :)
Response: I'm glad you liked it! I always think it's interesting, too, to hear of nearby enterprises, especially from small towns that ship nationwide. And the cereal was yummy! Thank you for the heart :)
Comment: Thank you for the lovely pc, I especially like the colorful flower themed postage stamps! I would like to send your daughter a pc if that is OK with you. I have 3 daughters and I remember the "back-to-school" August excitement, they are now too big for school!
Response: I'm glad you liked the card and the stamps! Sure, send my daughter a card - first name Amy, the rest same as my details :) Please print clearly; she hasn't got as much practice reading English as German. (Though chances are she'll give up and ask me to read it to her anyway :D Let's see how tenacious she's feeling that day.) And thank you for the heart!
Comment: I must be a terrible nerd; I've never heard of Pi Approximation Day! Also, well done you for learning Klingon. I tried but have no ability for languages. Thanks for sharing your great list! :-)
Response: I'm glad you liked it - thank you for reading :) I guess Pi Approximation Day was born from Europeans not liking the illogical "month-day-year" American date order (neither ascending nor descending) and so 3/14 wasn't really a suitable date for them... and someone thought that 22/7 would work well since it's a very old approximation for pi. Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thanks so much for my fun tangle! I love zentangling, don't you?
Response: You're welcome! And yes, I like it, because I'm not very creative nor good at drawing, so having a set of "rules" to choose from to make simple yet interesting images makes it easier for me. Thank you for the heart!
Comment: thank you for the great pc. i think she is really good. i am also not clear on outsider art. i thought (strickly a guess) it was done by people who are in prison. hope you had a great time at language camp.
Response: Could be about the prison thing; I have no idea. And language camp was great - thanks! Thank you also for the heart :)
Comment: Hi Philip! I received your postcard today, thank you! I don't really have a favourite cereal, they are way too expensive for what they are in Canada, and most of the delicious ones I have recently learned contain GMO foods, so not for me! I prefer bagels and cream cheese and a delicious dark coffee for breakfast :)
Response: Thanks for your response - and for the heart!
Comment: Philip, Thank you for reading my profile and sending a chunk o' chocolate. I find Esperanto very fascinating and I admire that you can travel and speak the language around the world. Have a nice time in Slovakia.
Response: Thanks! I did have a great time, met old friends and made a couple of new ones, and got some practice speaking. Thank you for the heart - I'm glad you liked the chunk o' chocolate :)
Comment: Wow, what a great little package I got!!
It was very exciting for me to get a letter from Germany since I read German at school loooong time ago. I tried to read the letter without translation and I managed even if I read the English after to see if I had understood properly.
The postage stamps inside was a great surprise!
I also loved the interesting things you wrote me.
Thanks for taking such a time to make me this letter!!! Loved it
Response: Thank you for reading my letter, and congratulations for understanding (most of?) it without translation! I'm glad you liked the letter and the stamps :) And thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thanks for joining my swap! I always find it funny what someone will put on a profile. Can't stand people who do not make up their swaps and still sign up for more!
Response: Thanks for hosting the swap! Pity that not more people posted some favourite picks there. ~ As for your comment, the worst are those who just hit sent to clear their dashboard so that they can sign up for more... and more... and more. They might start off with good intent but (I imagine) often find out they've bitten off way more than they can chew.
Response: I'm not sure what "this" is, but I've been on swap-bot for six months now and have picked up a little of the culture, including typical complaints or requested swap modifications. Not everything, by far, of course. ~ ~ ~ Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the lovely Hiroshige pc. I've always been fond of his work. Also I am so glad you didn't get excessive flooding in Hamburg. There's been some flooding in the interior of BC but not on Vancouver Island where I live.
Response: The weather is really crazy sometimes, isn't it?! I'm glad you liked the postcard, and thank you for the heart!
Comment: Fun ATC! I love your drawings, Philip, and your themes are so clever. Thank you for a lovely swap. It's a keeper. :-)
Response: It was fun drawing it! (Though also a bit frustrating since I'm perhaps overly critical at my skills - comparing what I drew with what I had *wanted* to draw.) I'm glad you liked it! And what a fun series of swaps! Thank you also for the heart :)
Comment: Ah, Philip, thank you so very much for passing the Kaj Stenvall card on to me. Wacky indeed, & in this case "quacky." The monstera leaf card was another perfect choice for me. I have a monstera growing in my garden and, when the light is just right, have strived (but so far failed) to capture an artistic photo similar to the one on the card. Nochmals danke.
Response: Haha, "quacky" indeed :) I'm glad you liked the cards I sent you - and thank you for the heart!
Comment: Wow!! Thankyou very much Philip, I have received two envelopes from you today! The very generous selection of 'Water' postcards from around the World are all very beautiful and the postage stamps that you used and sent to me are a treat to see. The included notes giving me the interesting info on all of the stamps was very thoughtful of you. The LadyBird book pc is delightful. Thankyou for reading my profile, I am very happy with all that you have sent to me you have made my day brighter! Carol:)
Response: That was quick! I'm glad the envelopes arrived safely and that you liked the things I picked out for you -- it was fun looking out things that I thought would make you happy! Thank you for the heart :) And I wish you many more happy swaps!
Comment: Hi Philip - Thanks so much for the nice note - interesting to hear about your bi-lingual child (I wish there was more of an effort that way over here in the states). I will be sure to send this postcard along on its way in the next swap!
I was in Germany (as well as England, Belguim, The Netherlands and Switzerland) many years ago at the age of 8. My dad was doing his dissertation work at the time on the Frankfort Stock Exchange. I have very distinct memories of Frankfort, Cologne, Munich and Hamburg. I also remember riding around in our pale blue VW bug (my parents bought it in the states, took delivery in Germany, then had it shipped back here after our trip), and stopping up in the mountains for lunches of bread, Camembert cheese and fruit - yum! That was my parents' first of several trips (my dad must have gone on about 10 or 12 research trips, and my mom accompanied him at least 3 other times). Well, enough about my memories! Thanks again for the postcard and note!
Response: Sounds like a magical time for an 8-year-old! Thank you for sharing your memories and for the heart!
Comment: Danke for the nice postcard. I haven't read the entire message yet, but when I get more time I will read it carefully, it'll take me quite a while to understand but surely I'll get it soon. :))
Response: I'm glad it made it safely to you! Thank you for the heart and thank you for "listening" :)
Comment: Thanks for the postcard and the interesting information! I didn't know that :)
Response: It probably is a little-known fact :) Perhaps one day I should have a look at the Moldauhafen given how close it is to me! Thank you for the heart! And wow, that was a quick trip the card had!
Thank you so much for your postcard, Esperanto camp sounds amazing!!! I'm off to google it now to see if there's any near me.. Have a great summer
Response: I'm really looking forward to it! The one I'm going to is SES - http://ses.ikso.net/ . For the UK, EAB might be able to tell you whether there's anything similar: http://esperanto.org.uk/ . And thank you for your wishes for a good summer and for the heart!
Comment: I started giggling right away when it started off with the "I am skillfully sorry" heh heh heh! And the part about the post office fumigating your mail was funny too! Thanks for a great Mad Lib letter!
Response: I'm glad you liked it - I thought it was pretty funny, too! My favourite part was the request to "leave a 5 and a heart and a furious comment"... so thanks for the 5 and the heart and the non-furious comment ;-)
Comment: Thank you SO SO much for the beautiful stamps, I totally love them. My favourites are the ones from Bosnia & Herzegovina and Malta. *__* Love and hugs from Bavaria, Nika :)
Response: I was going to say, "that was quick", but it was a domestic letter :) I'm glad you like the stamps! And I was a bit proud of the BA and MT stamps, too, so I'm glad they've found a new home where they will be loved as well! Thank you for the rating and the heart, and lots of fun on swap-bot!
Comment: WOW! Thanks for all of the great postcards! I wish I could give you more hearts! :) Thanks also for translating the postcard, how thoughtful! I was wondering what it said until I read your note :)
Response: I'm glad you liked them so much! Thanks for the heart and for your kinds words - sorry you only were allowed one heart to give ;-)
Comment: Vielen Dank an dir! I loved your explanation about your name, and admire your "swapmanship"! My name is Welsh, and good friends of mine (Welsh folks of course!) used it for their daughter. Do you miss Old Blighty now that you are living in Deutschland?
Response: Thank you for your kind words and the heart, and I'm glad you liked my message! To tell you the truth, I've never lived in England - my father came here before I was born. So I don't really have a good feeling for what it's like to live there, and don't miss it :) I do wish I were a bit closer to the family I still have over there, though.
Comment: Wow Philip, you have definitely gone "above and beyond" in this swap. Thank you so much for your several tongue twisters & translations. With the help of your phonetic pronunciation guide I may try the German one on a friend who was born there. The addition of the thoughtfully chosen pcs and fun selection of ephemera really made my day. I want to walk to Spiekeroog! Thank you again and a big virtual hug from Florida
Response: Good luck with the German tongue twister :) And I'm so glad you liked the things I chose for you! Have a wonderful week! And thanks for the heart!
Comment: Thanks Philip! ~ not only for the moon postcard but the others you enclosed as well -- The moon over the snow-covered field reminds me of winter here in Ontario! I hope we get to swap again :-)
Response: Glad you liked them! Thank you for the heart!
Comment: What a fabulous town hall! You don't see buildings like that around here! The stamp goes well with the postcard, too. Thank you very much. :-)
Response: It's a pity, isn't it? If they had built the building today, it would probably be the same boring rectangular steel-and-glass building they put up everywhere. Cheaper, no doubt, but there's something to be said for a bit of decoration on buildings. I'm glad you liked the card! Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thank you so much for the 9 (!) wonderful postcards and the delightful cartoon/note. I really appreciate your effort also your attention to my profile. And last but not least, I liked the stamps very much, too.
Response: It was a pleasure, and I'm glad I could make you happy :) Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thank you so much for the lovely postcard. I would love to go to Hamburg. I've only flown in and out of Germany a few times (Frankfurt and Munich); I have to get back there for a proper visit soon.
I sent out my postcards after last night's pick up, so you should be getting it soon. Thanks again!
Response: I'm glad you liked it! Yes, Hamburg is not that well served by international flights. I'm looking forward to your card :) And thank you for the heart!
Comment: I love the extra postcards you sent with the traveling one, particularly the sheep. I know of other island sheep, but I hadn't heard of Pellworm sheep before. Thank you!
Response: Glad you liked them! I don't think Pellworm sheep are a particular breed, though - the caption just refers to some sheep which happen to be standing on the island of Pellworm. Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the awesome swap package! I can't wait to try everything! We do have Ritter Sport bars here, but only a few flavors and I've never seen the Olympia flavor and have only ever tried the dark chocolate marzipan. And that is why I'm also eager to try the Alpia bar you sent as well. :-) I did open and try the Schogettem already, too. Delicious! Thank you so much!!
Response: I didn't know they even had Ritter Sport outside of Germany! But the Olympia flavour is special anyway :) I'm glad you liked what I sent - it was fun picking the chocolate out! And thanks for the heart :)
Comment: Yeah!!! You again :) Despite the 400 gr gain, but I'm proud of you for the fitness inscription! You are definitely doing better than I am, sob... Last week I did a 25 min work-out every day, through a fitness dvd, but during workweeks I just can't combine it :s It sucks, because I realised I felt so well all day long, only because I started the day with some work-out. I still need to get on the scale this week, but I'm not expecting too much of it. Anyway, hooray for you! Keep on the process!
Response: Well, you worked out every day, I've just been there once so far! And skipped walking up the stairs to work today because my leg muscles still felt a bit strained from yesterday... So go you, too! Thank you for your kind words!
Comment: Thank you for the cranes. We have brolgas in Australia. They are a type of crane. I have seen them in zoos but not in the wild.
Our weather is changeable. Yesterday it was cold and rainy. Today it is a little bit warmer and the sun is out.
Response: Thank you for the heart! It's starting to get warmer here now, too - finally!
Comment: Yay! Got your lovely zentangles today (3 of them!). You did really well and I was quite impressed! I especially liked how you made the patterns look 3D in a lot of cases - very nice! :) Not to worry about the Stade brochure! I was THRILLED to get the Beatles PC and I also loved the lighthouse PC a lot! Thank you so very much for sending those to me :) I really appreciate it! Take care
Response: Thank you for your kind words and the heart!
Comment: Thank you so much for a fun, easy swap! This was the first IRC I've ever received - I think I will keep it with my burgeoning stamp collection. (Although Lily thought the idea of being able to take it to the PO and sending a letter for free was very cool.) =D
Response: Thank you, too! I've considered starting an IRC collection, too, but the one swap I started for that purpose, nobody signed up for :( And they're not even sold in the US and the UK anymore, from what I've heard. (And did you know that the original Ponzi scheme had to do with IRCs? Since IRCs cost different amounts in different countries, he thought he could "buy low, sell high" by buying IRCs in a "cheap" country and selling them for postage in a country where postage was more than he had paid for them. He ran into problems with that scheme, though....)
Comment: I think the correct answer is 2? hahahha love the card. thanks!
Response: I think the question was, what's 2+2? That's 4, of course :) I don't remember whether 4 was the first or the second answer, though. Glad you liked the card! Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Comment: I loved your PC. For real, round is a shape, so I am in shape too!!! This card could not have been sent to me at a better time. I was asked NOT to bring a Coconut Cake to a luncheon tomorrow because a few people don't have will power to stay away. Baaahaaa! REALLY!!! The others about 12 almost beat the living BLEEP out of them. So guess what??? I'm bringing it anyway, I don't want those 12 after me. Haha.Only in Tennessee where we go redneck over coconut cake.
Joy aka SwapsAreFun
Response: Ahaha! Thanks for sharing :) Let's celebrate being in shape together!
Comment: I loved your story! It's much funnier than the original one. It was something the baker in my home town used to say when referring to his good-for-nothing apprentice baker boy: "It's easier to pull a swan out of the lake by its feet than to teach a lousy baker to make a decent bread dough". Thank you! :)
Response: Oh, that was from a real sentence! I just picked some words at random :) It was fun crafting a story with your words, though, and I'm glad you liked it! Better than stealing a stuffed puffin from a dilapidated museum on an island for the sesquicentennial of the arrival of the first puffin hunters! If you hurt yourself when the house falls down, you might end up given morphine.
Comment: What beautiful lighthouses. . . the inland one with the windows that look like flowers is so different - it looks like it could be a house at a children's park - so very interesting! It was also so interesting to hear about the Frisians - have never heard of them so now have to do more research to learn more, but I certainly like the house. Thanks so much for the wonderful PCs and for the most interesting information ~~ happy swapping!
Comment: It was nice to see a different point of view to giving stars and hearts. I actually will feel better about no getting hearts now because I can see it from someone else's side. This was a really good swap for that :-)
Response: Thank you for listening! I'm glad you could see my side of it, too. And thank you for rating and for the heart!
Comment: One of the most interesting to read postcards I have ever received! I will return your precious card immediately. P.S. My favorite book as a child was the children's encyclopedia with pictures. I was quite a nerd :)
Response: Encyclopædias are great, aren’t they! Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the re-send! I love this vintage-like botanical PC - thank you so much for looking at my profile before choosing which PC to send! :-) Wish I could give you MANY hearts for the re-send! :-)
Response: I'm glad that postcard made it to you and I'm sorry for the one that got lost! And I'm glad I had a postcard in my stash that fitted your profile so well! Thank you for the rating and the heart!
Comment: We certainly do have shredded wheat in the US and that banana/shredded wheat/warm milk combination sounds delicious.. I will DEFINITELY try it soon and it sounds perfect for camping, If I like it (which I'm sure I will), 'I'll definitely have it on my next camping trip. Hugs from California
Comment: Philip, thanks so much, love that we have been partners in the Adventures of the Traveling postcard and Chunk-o-Cardboard this month. Two of my absolute favorites. The answer to your question is headed back to you via mail!
Comment: I was raised by my grandparents, and my grandfather would always eat Shredded wheat. We called it "Bappa's bale of hay" because that's what it looked like. 2 bales of hay, 2 packets of Equal sweetener, and warm milk, if possible. I like frosted mini wheats, which is like shredded wheat, but the size of the end of your thumb, with a bit of frosting on one side. Cold milk though :)
Comment: Wow, thanks for all 3 postcards! Yes, the lighthouse one is funny -- sooooo close to being identical but JUST off!!! And I love the raccoons!!!!!!!!!!! So glad we were partners -- thanks so much!!!
Comment: Sorry, I wrote you a note in the regular message section after you contacted me, but I forgot to rate you! You asked me to add some information on your postcard before I sent it, right? And it was longer than a regular postcard, correct? I did send it off by the required deadline for Round 5. Somehow I missed Round4. I just went back through my correspondence listed on my profile, and I believe your card was mailed to "asmom" who wrote to me on February 23 that a postcard came. (But it could have been the one I sent to Siouxx05, in South Australia, who said she received her card on Jan. 15th.) Sorry for the mix-up, but I am sure that yours was launched somewhere! I guess the mystery will be solved when you get it back!
Response: Thank you for getting back to me! Yes, it was longer than a regular one and arrived in a big envelope that I folded down to be less wide. I'm glad it's travelling onwards now, whichever direction it took! Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Comment: What lovely PCs - thank you so very much!! I love them all - I have no oriental art so these are veyr welcome, and the nature PCs are just beautiful. The PCs of Australia are most welcome as that is my way of traveling around the world ;-) Thanks again for the great selection and happy swapping ~~
Comment: hello phillip...thanks for the lovely card and stamps. i just returned from europe a few days ago and had an oppurtunity to visit germany for the first time..didn't make it to hamburg but fell in love w/aachen and koblenz.
Comment: Thank you Philip for the terrific map of Hamburg!! I passed through Hamburg in 1982 (!) and have always thought that I didn't give it enough time. Your map shows me that I was right about that, and I need to get back to see more. NOw I have your map, I know exactly where to go and how to get there. Thank you so much.
Response: :) Thank you for the rating and the heart! And do come back here some day :D
Comment: Hey Philip, I love the postcard so much! Vintage batman - :D Totally made my day.
Actually I'm left handed too so I've gotten used to writting without seeing what I have already written but can't help the smudging aha. Thanks again
Response: I'm glad you liked the card! And interesting that you're left-handed like my daughter :) And the card was a lot of fun to write! (Did you read it as-is or did you use a mirror?)
Comment: Thanks for the card with childrens book cover. Isn't this the second time you sent me something in a short time? The other one was the Estonian holiday card :).
Response: Could be! Sometimes I think that swap-bot postcard swaps is always the same 50 or so swappers :) Not like Postcrossing where there are thousands of active members all over the globe and you essentially never send to the same person twice. Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Hello Philip! Thank you for the lovely chocolate upcycled postcard! They did look delicious, and I agree with you about wanting to sample each flavor. Thank you as well for the profile comments. (｡◕‿‿◕｡)
Comment: Good luck with getting your allotment!!! I wish you and your wife the best. It sounds wonderful! Thank you so very much for the heart and I love my fairy PC with no pink or purple on it. Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Response: And thank you for the heart, too! I'm glad I picked out something you liked!
Comment: Thank you! They were all very cute. I take it you like magic too? :)
Response: I used to :) Back when 6th Edition was current, I tried to collect them all and played occasionally. Haven't done so for years and so I have lots of cards I haven't got rid of but have no real use for. Since they're the same size as ATCs I used them as backing for an ATC swap was in at the same time (my first ATC swap) and then I thought I could use them for the inchies as well :)
Comment: Danke for the wonderful PC and stamps! Thank you for the description of the area as well! How is your winter by Germany? Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Response: Thanks to the Gulf Stream, our winter is pretty mild for how far north we are; the lowest we got was around -8 °C or so (+18 °F) and it's currently +3 °C (+37 °F). We had a fair bit of snow (for us) in January but all that melted away during the last week of just-above-freezing temperatures.
Comment: Thank you for the adorable fairy PC and I was very surprised to read something in Hungarian! Any connection?
Response: Just that I’m a language enthusiast and have picked up a few words and phrases in lots of languages! So I knew “viszontlátásra†and googled a bit to see what “until we read each other again†could be based on replacing “látni†with what Google Translate gave me for “readâ€.
Comment: Hi Philip! Thank you for the postcard with the gorgeous wolves on it! I'm actually sending out your postcard for the *Another* naked postcard swap tomorrow morning! I wrote that one and then I giggled when I realized that you were my sender for the first naked swap! Just ignore the redundency ;)
Response: Haha, I completely missed that! Funny, though, that we ended up paired together over those two swaps ;-)
Comment: Thanks you so much for this beautiful PC from Germany!!! if had to choose another place other than here to live, it would be Germany! Up until today, we have had temps around 45* F. Today, it was down to 16* F and the wind was blowing!!! Danke! Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
alles, alles Liebe,
Comment: Hello Philip,
Thank you for the beautiful postcard of Berlin you sent me for this swap. It is a great postcard for the second card in this series. I lived in Germany as a young child but never visited Berlin and have not returned to Germany to visit. I would love to visit Berlin and Germany.
