Description:

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - since all of us know someone who may have been affected by breast cancer, or have breasts of our own to care about, let's swap for a cause!

This swap has two parts. First, you must commit to donate $4. or more (US or Canadian currency) to a breast cancer charity such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation or any similar charity in your area. Causes like Gilda's Club, which supports cancer patients, hospice organizations or other similar charities definitely count. Pick a charity or PM me for addresses. Why $4? It's divisible by TWO, of course, and pairs are what this swap is about!

Second, you must send your partner something to help them remember to do breast self exams (or which they can pass along to someone for the same cause). You can choose to make or buy a pink item like a pin or a scarf; you can send along a soft pair of gloves for the hands that do the checking; a date book with a reminder written in each month; you can send a small container of hand cream so the checking hands feel pampered -- something that reminds us that this clinical act is also done for the benefit of us beautiful women, and that no matter what our age or condition, all breasts are beautiful. If you have a personal story to share, please feel free to do so in a note to your partner, but that's by no means a requirement.

I will angel if necessary. Thanks to all of you for remembering this condition, which will be cured by women who care

Great swap idea!!!

As a 13 year Breast Cancer Survivor, I collect donations from my friends and family to send to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada. I make a personal donation every year and treat myself to one or two new items with the Pink Ribbon symbol. This year I have found a cute tote bag and a magnetic-clip for the frig. Also had my white bangs hi-lighted in HOT PINK to show my support and when someone asks why my hair is PINK - I tell them how important it is for self examinations and to get a mammogram.

Thank you to everyone who supports this worthwhile cause.

That's great Donna! Wear those pink bangs proudly :0). I'm in - love these swaps. Daughter and I just did the Race for the Cure last weekend in the rain, lol. It's an annual thing for us with very personal meaning. Such an important message!
