One Dozen Inchies: Random Swap

But I had to comment. Please reconsider your rating requirement. An average rating of 3.00 would either be someone who had flaked within their first few swaps, or, if a more experienced swapper, had flaked on multiple people. Even 4.50 is considered by many to be too low a rating requirement to make a safe swap.

I want to thank you for giving everyone an opportunity to do this. So many hostesses have really unreasonable expectations. Each person should be considered individually. I have some bad ratings from the ancient past, and have certainly proved in recent days that I am a good swapper. Life happens, and can sometimes be quite devastating. Swapbot should be a fun place. Actually, @cynaemon has provided a great example of my point. Although there have apparently been two periods in her life when she left swaps uncompleted, leaving her with 16 ones and 4 threes (along with over 450 five ratings) she still has a rating of almost 4.85.

Sorry, @cynaemon , I don't imagine you were trying to provide me with an example like that. I guess what I'm saying is that a host could set the minimum rating at 4.8, and that would still allow a lot of leeway for people like yourself who had made mistakes in the past. Truly, no offence meant.

I agree with PJ, I was going to join this swap but the rating requirement is absurdly low. For instance, @faeriegoddess the original megaflaker whose name here is synonymous with "bad swapper" would be allowed in this swap. Personally I think any rating requirement below 4.8 is just begging for flakers to join. Even 4.9 allows for a Lot of leeway.

Hi, PJ, no offense taken. there have been some really bad periods in my life where I have been swept into a dark depression, and during those times I shut myself off completely from the world. I just become non-functional. I am much better now, and am working on making up as many ones as possible. some of the people are no longer active on swapbot, but if I can find a way to contact them I will. I think that 4.7 or 4.8 is a reasonable rating requirement. You can always check swappers and delete them. also, I think it should be taken on an individual basis. I do email a swap hostess to let them know my past situation, and if they still decide to delete me from their swap, that is okay. Many of them have generously allowed me to participate, or at least do a one-on-one swap with them, and I really appreciate that. I have worked really hard this summer to get my ratings back up. And honestly, 16 ones out of 450 ratings is less that 5%. When I went to school, 95% was still an "A".
