While trawling flickr I came across this great tutorial for a bottlecap pincushion pincushion tutorial I couldn't resist and made a couple! They are so easy and so cute I have decided a swap so we can share our creations would be a great idea :)

This swap is international and open to all swappers with a rating of 4.7 and up. Newbies there is lots of time to get rated for this one.

You will make a pincushion for two partners (that's 1 pincushion each to be sent to 2 partners). They can be decorated however you like, see the creators flickr for more decorating ideas. She has done a ladybird, eyeball, flower pots, all sorts! I simply embroidered my first 2 - see accompanying picture and my flickr - but plan to get a little more creative for this swap :)

There is loads of time between signing up and the swap date to ensure you do a wonderful job of your pincushions. Please remember to rate your partners, they will work as hard as you on this swap and should be acknowledged :)

I think this will be a fantastic swap and I hope you all enjoy it!

Another addiction I must feed... These are fun, fun, fun to make. Must go empty some bottles for caps. Now if I could just find something to do with wine corks or bottles I would have another excuse to empty some bottles:)

Well wouldn't wine corks be good to use as pin cushions? Or would they be to hard? Like wrap them with polyfil & cover them... I dunno...

And I am afraid these will be easy to make & I will have a new addiction too.

I have been rereading the description... is is 2 pincushions to each partner or only 1 to each partner. Forgive me for I am blonde.

cork isn't suitable for thin pins, too hard and it will seal up around it, pins MIGH go in but they WON'T wome out!

Sign me up, sure it's my tutorial but I love seeing other people's take!

Thanks for joining verybigjen, lovely to have the creator here :)

Sorry if there is confusion in the wording but it is 1 pincushion each for 2 partners.

Count me in! I've only made one so far, but they're so quick and addicting!

Here's another tutorial involving more hot glue and less sewing, if you're into that sort of thing: http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2007/06/tiny-pin-cushion-tutorial.html

I found this too late. Please tell me when (notice I didn't say IF!) you have another one! Oh, Annabel52, those corks make great circle stamps. The texture adds an interesting texture. I just used one to create some fabric for the Hippy Age of Aquarius swap and it looks great.

The bottlecap pincushion is a great way to add some detail to your cosplay word hurdle look without making it ridiculously hard on yourself (sometimes, you have to let the character do the work).
