Your religion, My religion ATCs
Swap Coordinator:orcasong (contact)
Swap categories: Challenges  Themed  Artist Trading Card (ATC)
Number of people in swap:7
Location:Other
Type:None
Last day to signup/drop:February 15, 2008
Date items must be sent by:March 15, 2008
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

For this swap you will make 3 ATCs for your partner.

To each partner you will send:

  • 1 ATC representing your faith.
  • 1 ATC representing your partner's faith.
  • 1 ATC of a religion not represented in any of the above cards (To give more variety)

Make sure you give some indication of the faiths your cards are representing. If you want to send a short description of the faiths represented in your cards, that is fine, but it's not required.

In the comments list your faith. You may add a sect, denomination, or division you may be a part of, or any unique belief/view/focus within your faith you have. The ATCs don't necessarily have to reflect the extra information, but if someone is assigned to two people of the same faith, they may want some way to make the ATCs representing each partner more unique.

Spiritual but not religious people are also welcome, but please describe a bit about your spirituality in the comments so people have an idea of how to represent your spirituality.

Tolerant people ONLY. You will be encouraging the person in their own faith by making them an ATC for their faith. If you feel you can't do that due to your beliefs, then don't sign up. There should be no criticism of faiths and no attempts at conversion. This is for those of us who love the diversity of faiths and who love the idea of living in peace with other faiths.

For ideas on the 3rd card of religions one could represent religioustolerance.org is a good source.

Fine Print:

New ATCers welcome. Here is a link for newbie ATCers. So, even if these are your first ATCs, feel free to join!

Newbies are welcome, but message me first. If you have any 1's, then message me as to why. If you have lower than a 4.9, please message me. This is a religious swap, so I expect people to be of good conscience and not flake.

I will drop anyone from the swap who has not left some sort of comment about their faith by the signup deadline. It's hard to make an ATC representing someone's faith when you don't know their faith. You are welcome to have a section in your profile about your faith instead, but you must mention that in the comments. I've never had to drop anyone before and hope I never will, but something similar to this has been an issue in a previous swap I've hosted.

I am more spiritual than religious, though I loosely follow a bit of Buddhism mixed with Christianity. :) I really like this swap and look forward to making the ATCs!

I was born into an interfaith marriage. My mom is Christian (congregational) and my dad is Jewish. Thus, I have been confused about religion for most of my life. Mostly I follow my own beliefs about being a good person with my own personal morals. But recently I have started going to a Christian church the welcomes everybody no matter what kind of Christian you are, whether you are gay or straight, Christian or curious about Christianity, etc. I have always longed for an organized religion to be a part of and to have people to share religion with because of my struggles growing up with two different belief systems in my family, and I am liking going to church so far. I believe in God most definitely. Aside from that though I am still unsure.

So there is a bit of a (long) history about me and religion. I've always been curious about other less familiar religions and am excited to do this swap!

My religion is Γƒ?satrú, which I have a lot more info in my profile about it. It's the native European religion around Norse Mythology.

Thanks everyone for signing up! I'm excited about this swap! I could have lots of fun making ATCs for any one of the people who's signed up! I think it's also cool to see my childhood religion listed (Methodist)! And Bonjour, I loved reading your story. I, too, have the need for organized religion, which not everyone understands. I'm glad to have found one that feels "home" to me and hope you also find a place in religion you call "home."

This is going to be a lot of fun. I'm new to ATCs.

I'm a Unitarian-Universalist (www.uua.org). Our essential trait is the belief in the inherent worth and dignity of all people. I believe in God, but not in the traditional sense -- more in the "God is everywhere and in all things" way. Our symbol is the flaming chalice, which you can see on the UUA web site. If anyone has more questoins about my religion, I'm totally open to talking about it. :)

I'll assign partners soon. I'm waiting until Monday afternoon on one person who forgot to put their religion. I figure some may only get internet on weekdays at work, so that's why I'm waiting. If this is an issue for someone, let me know and I'll go ahead and assign partners.

winniethepooh has listed her religion in her profile. Partners are all assigned. Let me know if you guys have any questions! I'm looking forward to this swap!
