Description:

I always take January and February to try new patterns and stitches. Lately I've been trying new stitches and saving the swatches with a tag on them describing the particulars. I've found them to really come in handy, and they look way different in 3d then in the book. I made a notebook of these in 7th grade home economics (remember that?) which I lost - dang - wish I still had it!

Swap Requirements; For this swap you will knit 3 swatches for your partner of three different stitches. Try something different - so plain knit, garter, purl, and stockinette stitches excluded. They can be three different cables, three different rib variations, three different slip stitch - etc. So that the stitch pattern and repeat shows up clearly you should make it big enough to get the feel for the pattern. I think a minimum size of 4x4 is sufficient - bigger if needed for the repeats. No restrictions on yarn weight or gauge - just what works best for the swatch. Attach a tag to the swatch with: Name of stitch, size of needle, number of stitches to make the swatch and the stitch directions. You can find millions of stitches to try in any stitch dictionary from the library or online.

Send on time. A swap sent late does not meet this requirement.

Swapper requirements: This swap is open to newbie swappers, but not newbie knitters. Please know how to knit before attempting this swap. No 1's - period. I will check before assigning partners and ban anyone who has slipped in ratings or is posting on their profile that they will late in sending for any reason. I reserve the right to exclude anyone if I believe they will create problems for other swappers.

The last few swaps I've hosted I've had people with ones asked to be included. The answer is no, because I don't want to say yes to some swappers and no to others. If you know that you don't meet the requirements, please don't sign up.

Was just thinkin of swatching some samples when this swap came about - I'll be swatching 3 different Rib Stitches. Can't wait to see what everyone will be sampling.

Lovin' the rib stitches right now. I had swatched broken rib and mistake rib which led to a mans scarf in a worsted. It's reversible, flexible, and best of all easy.

This sounds like a lot of fun. Now to decide on the stitches I want to work on for the swatches, Hmmmmm, : )

TILTAWHIRL - If worsted weight and size 10 needles probably around 20-24 sts for 4" square

Are these to be written instructions or diagram or graph instructions? Love the diagram ones like Burda or Vogue uses. Very easy to follow.
