i purchased a blister card of genuine rolodex cards today...they seem to me to be lighter weight than standard cardstock. these are genuine rolodex cards...will these be ok to use?

What you should do is glue about 2-3 of these cards together to make them more sturdy. This is what I do. :)

I prefer to glue a card to recycled cardboard boxes like cereal or lildebbie cause they taste great and are white on the back! That will make the cards sturdier than gluing several together and your cards will last alot longer too! ;-) Then u can collage on them too and make them even stronger!
