Dying to try your hand at ATCs .... but scared to jump into a swap as an ATC virgin?? Join us for this beginner's ATC swap!!!

Swappers will exchange 2 handmade ATCs with 1 partner. This is an international exchange since the postage should be relatively low. ATCs need to be your own personal creation. Collage art is acceptable, but please don't just print off a picture and glue it down --- take your time and create something that really expresses your artistic personality. ATCs need to conform to the general standard size (2.5" x 3.5").

This is a beginner's level ATC swap -- do NOT rate down if you don't like the artwork that you receive!!!! I won't remove experienced ATC'rs from this swap.....but no grumbling if you receive a beginner's level ATC! Help a newbie expand their artistic talents, and be gracious if you receive something below your own artistic talents.

To join this exchange, swappers must have at least a 4.9 rating. No unexplained 1s in the past 12 months, or 3s in the past 30 days. Unrated newbies are welcome -- but be aware that any flakers on this swap WILL be listed in the swap flaker forum. DONT sign up for this exchange unless you are 100% sure that you will send out your swap. I have a ZERO tolerance for flakers, especially when it involves other people's handmade/handdrawn artwork!

I am going to watch this, try to make them and see if I feel up to sending them, ATC's scare me, but I am so interested lol!

what is an ATC?

LynamDesigns 01/30/2012 #

i read the bit about not just printing a pic & glueing it down, but was wondering if photos done collage styles would be acceptable? i was thinking of using patterned scissors for the edges on a layered coloured background? (if that all makes sense?) no problem if its not ok, just wanted to check first :)

I have a few days to give this some thought and perhaps try my hand at making at least one ATC. If I feel that one is good enough to share, then I will join and make the second one.

I'm terrified of disappointing someone. I cherish my 5.0 rating, I don't want to lose (it over someone not liking my lack of talent, but tried really hard on) it ATC

Ha, like everyone else it seems like - I've never made an ATC but would like to try, but I'm afraid of the person not like it. But I'm gonna give it a shot.

I've made a few ATC's, but I'm definitely still learning. So I'll join in.

@CarmensCreations - that sounds lovely to me!

ladyphlogiston 01/31/2012 #

and a suggestion - put a little basic information on the back. From what I've read, most people at least include their name and the date, but you can also include a title, materials, website, etc. This isn't a requirement, obviously, but it's still nice.

CarmensCreations - collage art is fine...it just needs to be more than a simple picture glued down to an ATC blank. Make it your own! :) Your idea sounds really neat!

KraftyCrochet - Believe me, I understand how you feel! :o) But, ratings for this swap are based on receiving the item and not for whether the receiver likes the artwork or not.

I've been making ATC's for years, but would still like to sign up for this and help others if they want. I don't think there is a right or wrong way to make an ATC, other than the size, it's YOUR work of art and a piece of YOU. If someone is going to rate an ATC down because the didn't "like" it is (IMHO) stupid. Why would anyone want to rate down someone's hard work?

Oh, if anyone want's to look at some of my ATC's here's my blog.

Anyone need help, feel free to drop me a line.

It's my first swap here, so I think I'm a "unrated newbie" but I hope to swap the ATCs between many of yours!!!!!

I just noticed this is labeled a Type 2 swap. I don't much care, but I thought I'd point out that ATC's are often labeled Type 3 - it's package OR craft, and while they ship flat they are definitely a craft. But it's not important.
