Rye Rye has suggested I make this a monthly swap! So-here is #2.

Re : a small bird-between 3" and 6". Made from paper, fabric, felt, whatever medium you prefer to work with. Doublesided-so,if paper, for example, use something sturdy like cardboard between the layers. They should have wings separate from their bodies (not just painted or printed on),a tail (not necessarily separate),a beak,eyes-standard bird stuff! Give them either a hanger ie ribbon or a small, thin dowel to stand up on.Maybe ask your partner which they want their bird to have? Sticks might not make it safely through the mail-especially overseas.

Somewhere on them they should have an inspirational word (like "create" or "play").This can be attached to the bird anyway you like-printed or stamped, handwritten, glued on,a charm,etc.,etc.

Decorate your birds like crazy-bits of ribbons and lace, beads and buttons, pretty tissue papers,etc.,etc.

In the article in CPS magazine I got the idea from (Jan/Feb 2012) the author handdrew simple bird shapes,so don't worry if your birds are not perfect or particularly "realistic" looking. They are supposed to be fun, after all! :D

Any questions,feel free to ask!

Absolutely no flaking allowed! (Like I need to say that!)

Have fun!

Could I embroider a word on the bird?

Just watching for now. The bird pattern I found (and used last night) here - doesn't have wings or eyes or definable beak. :( Makes cute bird stuffies, but doesn't meet up to swap requirements.

@bluehairedmary you could probably make this pattern work, just don't add the belly and create wings. Maybe use a stiff interfacing to give it some body, add some paint, glitter, embellishments and I think it would be adorable!

I have to agree with @bstitched I made my last bird with a sewing pattern. It has a front and back body without the belly in the middle. Then I added simple wing shapes and made eyes and a tail from other things-like beads and faux flowers, etc. It doesn't have to have a separate beak-just the impression of one-which your pattern does @bluehairedmary

I hope that you will please join up! These really are quite simple and fun! As I stated , they really just have to give a general impression of a bird. Oh-and,yes-you can embroider a word on your bird! :D
