Description:

We all have our favourite candies/chocolates/sweets, but unfortunately, mine happen to be Reeses Peanut Butter Cups which are almost impossible to get hold of in England, unless you're willing to pay beyond the odds!

So, the idea for this swap is that you send 2 partners a small selection of sweets/candies or chocolates that, for the most part, would only be found in your country. So for example, if you're in America, you might decide to send Hersheys goodies, if you're in Europe you may send Milka or Nestle or if you're from the UK you could send Cadburys. I would advise on spending around £2.50/$5 on this, but if you want to spoil your partners, then do! There is no such thing as too much chocolate ;)

I am making this swap a quick one because it is rather simple and most people go past somewhere that sells candy pretty much everyday.

Participants must have 4/5 ratings and no recent no-sends. Newbies more than welcome :)

I don't have experience sending candy, but how do you usually send/pack it?

hetty 02/21/2008 #

Hi Shirley :) I must admit, I don't have any experience sending candy either, but I'll most likely send mine in a small box or just well wrapped in bubble wrap then parcel paper. Anyone else have any tips on how to send? I don't know if my ideas will be particularly efficient..

CarCrashHearts 02/22/2008 #

You definitely want to pack your candy in bubble wrap if you're sending in an envelope. It travels better in a box padded with tissue paper.

For my partner, check out my profile for my preferences and dislikes in chocolate. I have a whole separate section in there :)

Hetty- that's so funny, I never thought about the fact that someone wouldn't have access to Reese's!!!! They are my favorite too, but everyone knows that so it seems it's all I ever get! I'm looking forward to this swap. Thanks!

Kgurliek - I love living in England, but Reeses is one of the few things I'd move to America for! Not being able to get (reasonably priced!) pb cups here sucks majorly. I'm excited about this swap too, it'll be nice to try some different stuff :)

i moved from england to america 5 years ago and one of the things i miss the most from home is chocolate. flakes especially. but all chocolate. i am lucky enough to live quite near to hershey factory so hersheys stuff no problem, but though i like it plenty i miss chocolate from home. i hope some one out there can help me.....

I love any milk chocolate, but I love Cadbury Roses (which are next to impossible to get in MN) Big Hunk, which I believe is Nestle, any ritter or milka bars...I also LOVE Japanese chocolates.

Oh! I love this swap! Unfortunately, Im in swaps here and in other pages, like Ravelry, so my budget dont reach more worlwide shipping amounts. But, please, I ask you to make other swap like this soon (maybe next month?) Please, I would love to sign up! :))

BlackDiamond 02/24/2008 #

I know I shouldn't sign up for more swaps, but I couldn't resist this one! lol. I like pretty much anything except for bitter chocolate and black licorice.

hetty 02/25/2008 #

Winnie, if this swap goes well I might make it a monthly thing.. Hopefully you'll be able to join next time :)

I can't wait for this swap to start, both to shop and receive! I like to try anything new; chocolate is yummy, but I also love fruity candies, gummy treats, nutty candies, etc. If my partner is also from the US, I would love for you to send something local to your region, like a candy made by a local candy shop! :-)

Anniehall 02/25/2008 #

Hi everybody. I'm super excited with this swap. It's a yummy exchange, he! I really love chocolate. I cannot live without it! I love gummies, fruit candies, lollypops too. About dislikes: I don't like liquorice flavor!

MissAndree 02/25/2008 #

Does anyone have food allergies we should know about?

(I don't -- I eat all manners of nuts, chocolates, sour candies, gourmet jelly beans, licorices, YUM!)

MrsMJ 02/25/2008 #

This sounds like so much fun! I love trying candy or other treats from different places. Even different parts of my own country have different candies. That being said, I am allergic to tree nuts (any nut other than peanuts) and sunflower seeds including their oil. If you get me, please don't send me chocolate since MOST of the time there will be contamination issues. And of course don't send tree nuts either (this, unfortunately, includes chestnuts...) (;_;)

Anniehall 02/26/2008 #

I'll try to send my packages this week!

bluegrassgirl 02/27/2008 #

the only thing we don't like is black licorice....thanks

MissAndree 02/29/2008 #

I sent my packages off today, but it seems it will take more than a month to get from Canada to UK and Czech Republic... So please do not despair!

xx A.

Pinkyrocks 03/ 8/2008 #

envelopes obviously don't work. i got one with candy today. and half of the content was broken...so you should definitely pack it in a box!

MissAndree 04/23/2008 #

I still haven't received all my stuff for this swap :-(
