Description:

This swap is all about free form crochet and knitting. When you make a small stand alone piece it is called a scrumble. These scrumbles can be stitched together to make a larger piece.

How do you do free form? Random yarn, random gauges, clean out your yarn ends while you try new stitches. Anything goes, test swatches, gauge swatches, that new shape or applique that just didn't quite look right, stitch them together in an interesting way and send it to your partner.

You will each have 1 partner and you will send them 1 scrumble. Please do not put a decorative border as some people will be adding the scrumble to a larger piece. It can be any shape, but the bulk of it must be 6 inches by 6 inches. Colors are sender's choice, but it is always nice to check someone's profile.

I am giving almost a month to make these so that anyone feeling uncertain about how to start will have some time to look at others work on the internet for ideas. But I feel that I should point out you cannot do free form wrong! As long as I lies mostly flat, you are good to go.

What do I do with my scrumble? Add to it to make a pillow or blanket. Frame it and hang it on the wall, anything you feel like is absolutely acceptable. I have added some websites that should give you a starting point and some ideas. As always google images will have lots of pictures.

The swap rating is high because I don't want someone to work really hard only to be flaked on. I will angel but I would rather not have to as this could be a time intensive swap.

EDIT: The minimum rating has changed due to requests to join the swap. I will be checking profiles before assigning partners, and reserve the right to ban those with recent 1"s and 3"s. But I would PM those involved first. :)

I think I might actually best at this - I like doing small projects and putting them together. What a neat swap !!
Are you going to do more of these so that there will be a chance to put something bigger together (lab blanket size). I think that would be great.

I just BARELY don't meet the criteria ... but I'd really love to do this. I only hve one 3, all my other swaps are 5's.

I'd love for this to be a series too. These are my favorite type of afgans to make. I've made several, which I call patchwork. :)
