This is another great idea proposed by @snailgirl - thx dear! (";) There are so many great Holiday flair/Christmas fabrics out there, so let's do some shopping and cutting and share it with each other! When this swap is finished, we will each have enough Holiday Flair fabric strips to make a fun holiday lap quilt USING THIS VIDEO TUTORIAL Or, you can use THIS PDF Tutorial We will have 4 partners so we will need a minimum of 5 people to join to make this work. Each participant purchases a half yard (18" or 45 cm) of four different quilt quality cotton holiday fabrics. (Or if you already have a huge stash of quilting quality holiday cotton, you may choose from that instead, as long as you have at least half a yard of each!) Do this with each of the 4 pieces: Cut in half so you end up with 2 pieces, each 9" (22.5 cm) x the width. You will now have 8 pieces of assorted fabric. Do this with each of the 8 pieces: Cut into two uneven strips (widths totaling 9" or 22.5 cm). Keep the 2 pieces of the same fabric together - this will be a "set". Keep one set (totaling 9") of each fabric for yourself and send the remaining 4 sets to your partners. Each of your partners will receive a different set of fabric. Each of us will end up with 16 strips (8 of our own, and 8 from our partners) to sew into a nice little quilt approximately 42"x 64". I am missing something here. We take half yard cut in half having two pieces 9"x44" correct (times 4). Then we take theone piece and cut it say in 2 pieces like 9"x18" leaving 1 piece of 9"x26". Do this with remaining 7 pieces? Should ALL remaining 7 pieces also be 9x18 and 9x26?

Sorry I am so dense! Also can Halloween fabric be used?

Since I have been asked to go back and re read the original swap I have decided to go ahead and revamp the whole swap.OK you all I am I am going to make it a Christmas / Holidayflair swap kit. And if we still continue with this I will be starting a flicker group for it.

All fabric pieces must be full width to make the quilt, all cuts will be selvage to selvage. You send each partner two strips that total 9" in width, ie 3" & 6" or 4"&5"...

I went a head and changed the first date. I didn't give you all enough time to get the things that you needed for the quilt to be better prepared to put it together. To be able to have it done for everyone by the holidays.

Biasbabe, I still am confused. If we cut FOUR 1/2 yards and have to send to FOUR partners where does our set come in? I am missing something, not to be a PIA but wnat to do this right.

You cut each half yard into 4 pieces, you keep 2 (that total 9") and send two...

So now we need 3 half yards to send a set (i.e. 2strips) to each of 3 partners and keep 3 sets for ourselves giving a total of 12 strips? Then make it up ourselves to the size we want with additional fabric strips or do a mini quilt with 12 strips? Am I right? So confusing for my poor brain!
