Description:

This is a US only swap--APO (military) addresses are acceptable, since it's the same rate.

I love clear packaging so when I bought an iced coffee drink, this idea came to me.

You will fill a CLEAR to-go coffee cup (the one the iced or frozen drinks come in) with coffee colored items. Think of all the beautiful shades of brown and how nice it will look in that clear cup! The cup must be at least 16oz--so go ahead and splurge when you buy a drink and buy the biggest size they have! Be sure to include the lid, so your goodies don't spill out.

This doesn't have to be profile based, but it's nice to include something specific to your partner if you can. Remember the golden rule--Treat others as YOU would like to be treated. If this is followed, everyone should receive a 5 AND a heart, right?!

I was asked to include a monetary value for this...I'm not sure what to put (if you have a better suggestion, please PM me). I'd say it will be at least $5, but probably not more than $15--I do a lot of handmade items and things from my stash, so it's hard for me to put a dollar amount. Just make sure the cup is FILLED with nice items (and I just can't emphasize the 'Golden Rule' enough).

This swap is limited to those with a 4.9+ rating. Newbies MUST contact me 1st and have a filled out profile. I will be banning anyone that doesn't meet these requirements.

**If you don't like to receive handmade items, please do not sign up as I know I will be including (and encouraging) QUALITY handmade items.

Have fun!

Oh, even though this IS a cup originally meant for liquids--please don't include any liquid items for your partner. It just gets messy. Thanks!

neat idea i seen something like this at a scrapbook convention that i was at they had taken the clear cups 16oz with the bubble lid and filled them with ribbon they were selling like crazy I forgot what they called them but they had a cute name for them and the were going for 5 bucks a piece. this will be a fun swap I am going to treat myself to a large iced coffee at borders and get my cup

debbi 03/ 4/2008 #

Could you please add a suggested monetary amount? Thanks!

Zipp0099 03/ 4/2008 #

This is a great idea! You think it would go in the mail just in the cup or should it be put into a box for mailing?

iheartswaps 03/ 4/2008 #

It would be fun to mail just the cup, but I'm afraid it probably wouldn't arrive--someone might see the goodies inside and keep them for themselves :( Also, most cups have writing on them and I know the USPS is cracking down on the rule of no writing/text/words on packages besides the addresses (especially at my branch, grrr).

Oh gee now I'll have to go to STARBUCKS and get a venti strawberries and creme frappuccino. Oh gosh I feel so guilty (^_^)

GaijinGirl 03/ 6/2008 #

This sounds so fun! I've been waiting for a swap that would help me to get a little more creative!

dandelion 03/ 6/2008 #

Ah gesh ... I was cutting back on my swapping but this is just way too tempting!! I've just gotta join! :D

Yea just another reason to pick up a Grande XX Carmel Frapp sundae style. ^-^ Yummy

Sprezzatura 03/16/2008 #

This is going to be a bunch of fun, thanks for letting this newbie sign up! I have really been into brown lately - and I love coffee. Especially chocolate coffee. Yum.

shopandbid 03/17/2008 #

Okay I need so help here. I'm having a problem finding brown items, I've thought of buttons, ribbon, paint, FQ, but what if my partner is not a crafter? HELP

debbi 03/17/2008 #

My is just about filled and my partner better be able to use ribbons, buttons, and items like that! I thought that is what we were aiming for!?!?! iheartswaps...what do you think??

shopandbid 03/17/2008 #

Well the swap just states brown items, it does not state any type of items. So last week when I went shopping I had a problem as I only looked at Joanns and Michaels.

iheartswaps 03/17/2008 #

I think that anyone who does swaps can use ribbon, buttons, etc... There aren't too many things that are 'tiny' to fill up the space in the cup that aren't crafty-type items.

Some small brown ideas: *magnets *candy *homemade items--necklace, gift tags, pin/badge, skinny scarf, mini-plushy or dottee doll, etc... *bookmark *ATC *stickers *beads *paper scraps *punched paper shapes *ribbon *bottle caps *decorated matchbox (in brown, of course!) *candle (if your partner likes them) *mini note cards *mini envelopes *recipes (on a brown card)

Anyone else please feel free to list some ideas, these were just off the top of my head (and biased to MY type of crafts).

Great ideas thank you bunches. For some reason I couldn't see though my glasses.

LeCoreFemme 03/19/2008 #

I am loving putting this swap together. What fun!

Heres an idea... Maybe we could do these on a regular basis using different color schemes for the different flavored coffee drinks. :) Just a thought.

Huggs,

Skye

iheartswaps 03/19/2008 #

Ooh, I like that idea, Skye. Another brainstorm for future swaps--I wonder what kind of clear drink cup we could use for 'mixed' drinks? We could do a "Strawberry Daiquiri" (pinks) and "Margarita" (white & lime) and "Bloody Mary" (red)!

-Rachel

LeCoreFemme 03/22/2008 #

Oh, I love the mixed drinks idea too. Not sure about the container. I'll look around and see if anything jumps out. :)

occasiongb6557 03/23/2008 #

DARN, I can't believe I jumped right over the brown theme sentence. Good thing I was reading comments or my partner would have gotten something totally different. Now to put on a new thinking cap here.

luxygrl83 03/24/2008 #

I thought about chocolate covered coffee beans Yummy ^-^. Oh and does it all have to be shades of brown? I was thinking of filling the top half with cream or white colored items to make it looks like a Frappuccino. This swap is gonna be so much fun.

iheartswaps 03/25/2008 #

luxygrl83--I think the foam idea would be cute. You might have to put a divider in though, since things will shift and fall to the bottom while traveling to your partner. Hmmmm...maybe I'll try it too!

iheartswaps~

They sell plastic margarity/mixed drink glasses you could maybe use! I've seen them at party stores

TeaNi 03/27/2008 #

I am so drawn to these color themed swaps, I would definitely be up for more- something about putting together an assortment of items in different shades of one color that's emotionally soothing:) I dislike actual coffee itself, but love browns. If I were to get something cffee flavoured or scented, I could pass it onto my mom, though, she loves it. Funny that I was raised by coffee lovers, but never did aquire a liking for the taste or smell of it. I'm a tea woman, myself:)

TeaNi 03/27/2008 #

oh, almost forgot, I wanted to say that for future swaps, you could always just use the same clear to go cups, and do different "slushie" themed swaps for various colors; cherry, blue raspberry, lemon-lime, etc. Just a thought:)

iheartswaps 03/28/2008 #

Oh my goodness...the slushie theme would be PERFECT for a summer swap. I'll probably do one, I'll set it up after this swap is finished. You girls have some great ideas!

-Rachel

hippofairy 03/29/2008 #

this sounds so much fun!

and i'd love to receive fabric too, along with whatever else you can find! thanks!

olsencjw 04/ 1/2008 #

Yarn... yarn... yarn... bamboo knitting needles... yarn...

Did I mention yarn???

I also saw a cute beige scarf at TJMaxx on the clearance rack...

Clearance jewelry rack at Target usually has inexpensive items, lots of different colors.

Headbands/barrettes, combs, hairbrush(purse-sized)

Socks. Socks are fun.

Coffee. Chocolate. Coffee and Chocolate.

Oh, did I say yarn?

TeaNi 04/ 1/2008 #

I was trying to think up ideas for filler items that no one had mentioned, and all that would come to mind is Sharpies or if they wouldn't fit, those mini sharpies on clips they sell, or mini scented sopas in a brown or tan color, keychains, anything wooden... that's all that's coming to me that I don't think has already been mentioned:)

iheartswaps 04/ 2/2008 #

I have also found a couple of brown wrapped candies!

Today is the last day to sign up or drop, ladies. Tomorrow we get our partners!! Yippee!

-Rachel

TeaNi 04/ 2/2008 #

can't wait! I hope we have a good group of thoughtful swappers:)
