Description:

CALLING ALL SNAIL~MAILERS..... this is the swap for you!

For this swap, we will send & receive the parcel of our dreams. After choosing from the list below, package your parcel up very carefully so items don't get damaged/bent/torn in transit. Don't just throw everything in! The size of envelope or box you use will depend on which items you choose to send. Decorate/embellish the parcel so your partner will know what it is & be as excited as you will when you receive yours!

Choose 10 items from this list to send to your partner:

  • 10 airmail stickers (the free ones from any post office)

  • 2 different new or vintage letter sets (2 papers & 1 envelope each; the papers can be folded to fit neatly in envies)

  • set of 4 handmade note cards with envies - hand-stamped; hand-decorated or zentangled - not from scrapbook paper & NOT storebought (card stock based okay)

  • 5 handmade envelopes (made from any ephemera other than scrapbook paper)

  • 10 handmade postal-themed stickers (these can be cut-outs or computer printed images made into stickers)

  • 1 roll of deco tape or washi tape

  • 5 artistamps (a.k.a. faux postage), made by you or someone else

  • 4 new, store-bought postcards, unwritten (so your partner can use them) - no ad cards! Okay to send vintage if your partner's profile says so.

  • 4 unused postage stamps (only if sending within your country)

  • 3 unused airmail envelopes (vintage okay)

  • 4 different foreign postal forms - free ones like customs forms, registered mail, etc. Like these (only if sending to another country, other than your own) - for mail art purposes

  • 10 envelope seals - store-bought or handmade, either postal-related or profile specific ONLY

  • fine-tip, permanent ink pen (.5mm or smaller), such as Micron (may say 08) or LePen. (NO gel pens or cheap pens.) If you can't send a quality pen, don't choose this item!

  • 2 handmade or store-bought self-mailers, like these

  • a snail mail-inspired rubber stamp - hand-carved or store-bought (like a postage stamp or cancellation mark, for example, but you can be creative as long as its postal related)

  • 2 vintage letters (originals, not copies; to be used by your partner for mail art purposes)

  • 15 custom, profile-specific address labels for your partner

  • 1 self-inking postal stamp, like "airmail"; "parcel post"; "handle with care", etc. (usually purchased at office supply stores)

  • handmade and/or hand-stamped and/or collaged stationery consisting of 4 papers & 2 coordinating envies

  • 12 address labels (the kind you put on the front of an envie that say "to...") - handmade or not, but not plain white

  • 2 handmade/altered/re-puposed postcards (that your partner can use)

Each bullet point counts as 1 item. These are the specific items that you must choose from to send to your partner, so please read carefully before choosing. Its your partner's choice to give/not give a heart and to rate down if you don't send the swap correctly. I have given examples/explanations for each, so there shouldn't be any confusion. If you have questions or are unsure what an item is, PLEASE PM me or comment below. Also, if you have more ideas as to what to send, let me know & I'll consider adding to the list.

Don't forget to put a note in your package with your name & the swap name.

PLEASE READ Since this is a time-consuming, QUALITY swap, you must have at least a 4.97 rating with at least 10 type-3 (package swaps) with a 5 rating. No 1's or 3's in the last 6 months. No late-sends on your dashboard at the time partners are assigned, and you must have logged on within 3 days of the sign-up deadline. I WILL check profiles before assigning partners and will not PM you before banning you if you do not meet these requirements.

This is going to be a GREAT swap! So far we have joiners from Germany, the Netherlands, Croatia & Australia!!

BerlinGeorgia 09/17/2012 #

15 custom, profile-specific address labels for your partner - you mean return address labels, right? Would you add actual address labels, too? Like http://cache0.bigcartel.com/productimages/25425452/pinkaddresslabelssamples.jpg (of course a little more advanced, couldn't find a better example) Thanks for this awesome swap!!!

iLoveMail 09/17/2012 #

Yes, return address labels. Will check out the link, thanks!

Sorry, here is the link again: http://paperpastries.bigcartel.com/product/set-of-20-pink-address-labels

I added it. Participants & watchers please note swap has been edited.

emrajr69 09/18/2012 #

I'd like to join too.

magaskawee 09/20/2012 #

Watching & hoping I get rated for 3 more Type3 Swaps in time to join!

Darkshadowmoor 09/20/2012 #

Wow! That sounds fun!! . . . I wish I'd get more snail mail. I send so much to no avail.

iLoveMail 09/23/2012 #

New items added to the list thanks to @paloma See above :)

KaliTracer 09/23/2012 #

I'm super excited for this swap. This looks amazing

soyprincesa2 10/ 1/2012 #

I am bummed that I may have to drop this swap as I am trying to hunt down a lot of these items with no luck!

FiWebster 10/ 4/2012 #

I think I found something you left off the list, Alfie: artistamps! AKA postoids, you know: faux postal stamps, usually designed by artists, hence their name. I rarely post a postcard or a letter without including at least one artistamp. Why not add another bullet point for "5 different artistamps, designed by yourself or by someone else"?

paloma 10/ 5/2012 #

including artistamps is a great idea!

iLoveMail 10/ 5/2012 #

Thanks Fi! More items added :)

iLoveMail 10/ 5/2012 #

I had the pen size wrong; please note change. Thanks!

Conelmateenlaizquierda 10/ 6/2012 #

This looks amazing but I don't think I'll be able to get enough of this stuff here in Argentina. Maybe I'll join if you do another in the future

iLoveMail 10/ 6/2012 #

You can make quite a few of the items :)

iLoveMail 10/15/2012 #

I just went through ALL joiners profiles & had to ban a couple of people because they had a very recent 1/3 or had not completed enough type 3 swaps. Its nothing personal, just adhering to my swap rules. Just because your dashboard says 10 type 3 swaps completed, does not mean they were type 3. I don't know what's up with swap coordinators calling flat mail a type 3 swap!?! (Not the participant's fault, but they should make sure they have completed the req'd number of type 3 swaps before joining.)

tanjch 10/15/2012 #

would love to join, but have currently enough to be kept preocupied - if there's one in the future :) count me for joining

Popcornikimppu1 10/15/2012 #

ten air mail stickers equals two letter sets? i think these things are not in balance in many points. of course, join and you know what you minght get, but i still think it is bit funny. how about a hand-made letter set?

FiWebster 10/15/2012 #

She's got handmade stationery down near the bottom of the list.

Popcornikimppu1 10/15/2012 #

Yeah, I wrote that on smartfone and oversaw it/did not manage to edit. But good plus thanks.

iLoveMail 10/15/2012 #

Thanks for pointing that out @FiWebster Just tried to give a wide variety of items to send without breaking the bank. Lots of the items can be handmade. Hopefully, partners will be generous/thoughtful; of course you may rate how you see fit @Popcornikimppu1 should your partner choose all or most "easy" items.

Rabbitfreedom 10/16/2012 #

I went today to my post office (I live in Brooklyn, NY) and was told that the post office has not used air mail labels in years and therefore, none to offer me. Did anyone else manage to get air mail label from their post offices? Just wondering if I was getting the run around.

iLoveMail 10/17/2012 #

My post office has them for int'l letters. My grandma has also gotten them at her p.o. in CA. Maybe ask if another p.o. nearby has some? The current ones are dark blue and look like this (just scroll down the page to see the pic). I also have several foreign airmail labels from other swaps. I'm happy to send you some :)
