Description:

PLEASE NOTE: The quilt block swaps I host are meant for more experienced quilters. You will need to be at least an intermediate in your experience and skill set. Do not join unless you have the experience necessary to make these blocks.

For this swap you will have 4 partners and will send each partner 3 blocks, for a total of 12 blocks sent. You have the whole month to work on these, so don't feel rushed.

@Sporkfoo suggested a block for January. The tutorial is here:http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art23986.asp It's called the Arkansas crossroads block. It's pretty simple, but pretty when sewn into a quilt.

The tutorial shows red, green, yellow and cream squares. I'm going to change that a bit. For the red, green and yellow squares that are shown you can use any pattern/color you like. For the parts in cream use black. The reason I need everyone to use black is so that when you get all your blocks from your partners ,and sew them into a quilt, the intended pattern of this quilt shows up.

Make sure to follow the tutorial carefully. Everyone should receive blocks that have the same pattern and measure 12-1/2 inches on each side.

This is a great swap if you have a lot of scraps you want to get rid of. Mix up the colors, this quilt will look really nice if there's not a lot of pattern repeat. Just make sure they are 100% cotton. New fabric is best, unless your partner is ok with vintage material.Fabrics used are sender's choice but try to take your partners tastes into account.

And just to remind you.... use black for the large blocks the tutorial shows in cream. We want to make sure these blocks look good when mixed together.

No newbies. Must have completed at least 5 type 3 swaps and have a rating of 4.8 or better. No 1's or 3's in the last 6 months.I will check. I may make exceptions for newbies who haven't been rated yet. I will also check to see if you've done quilting swaps before. If not I may ask you to send me photo verification of your ability to quilt. Message me if you've done swaps but just haven't been rated. If you don't get anything from your partner let me know.

Hi for the black, are you looking for a solid black, or a black based print?

EllieChaos 12/27/2012 #

Solid black would look bets since the other blocks will be a random assortment. A dark grey on black or black on black pattern that is subtle should be ok though.

I like this block a lot, and love block swaps, but having to make 12 for one swap is a little out of my budget! --Especially with the mail rate going up in a few weeks.

Would anyone like to do a USA only, one-on-one private swap for one block?

Partners - I would love my squares to be all scrappy (except for the black:) - use up your scraps!!! Thanks everyone. Twobluecrows - I would be happy to do a one on one swap with you. PM me:)
