Description:

The December 2012 Fandom in a Mini Bag swap is the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fandom.

Step 1: Please list in the comments your favorite characters, moments, movies, scenes, books or any other preference you may have.

Step 2: After partners are assigned, check to see what your partner likes. You can follow-up with a message if you need to know more. Then scrounge up, buy, and/or create items that fit in a bag. Your bag must contain at least 5 different items although more is certainly encouraged to make your bag look full of goodies.

Some ideas of themed items: stickers, ATCs, postcards, toys/action figures, comics, note cards, pins/buttons, magnets, jewelry, trading cards, charms, ornaments, bookmarks, address labels, plushies/stuffies, promo stills/autograph cards, fanfic drabbles/ficlets, soundtracks, etc.

More specific ideas: handdrawn map of Middle Earth, a "there and back again" travel journal, elf ears, Lorien leaf broach, banners for favorite towns, illustrations of your favorite parts of the books, drink coasters from the Prancing Pony, favorite recipes hobbits would like, a shiny gold ring, sword envelope openers, etc.

Be sure to check your partner's profile so you don't send anything he or she might be allergic to.

Step 3: Put the items in a ziplock-type bag. Size: 1 quart (roughly 8.5inches by 7 inches or 21.5cm by 18cm). You can decorate the bag or incorporate the bag into something (mount it or sew something around it). If you want to make or buy a bag instead of using a ziplock plastic one, that's fine as well, but it should be at least a quart in size. All items you gather or create should fit into the bag (if a couple are too big, no one will complain).

Assemble your bags during the month of December and please send by the deadline (January 2--extended one day because January 1 is a holiday).

Group rating rules apply. NO FLAKING ALLOWED! The great eye will see all flakers!

I love EVERYTHING Middle Earth. I never say no to LEGO (I have all the LotR LEGO sets but NONE of the new Hobbit LEGO sets). I would LOVE a handdrawn/handmade map of Middle Earth (with or without journeys drawn in). I love the places in Middle Earth, especially Lothlorien (can't wait to see Mirkwood!). I ship & write mostly Legolas/Gimli as it's practically book canon ;-) and I can't wait to see what PJ's movie does with Legolas' father and Gimli's father. heehee I love the three hunters in the Two Towers. I love all the different cultures--hobbits, dwarves, wizards, men, ents, elves (ooohh, pretty pretty elves). I am a sucker for the good guys, so I'm always rooting for the fellowship. I adore Bilbo (especially Martin Freeman), Faramir, Eowyn, Eomer, Theoden, and the whole Fellowship--every one of them. I guess I like the movies better than the books in a lot of ways (honestly, the long passages of songs/poems are ones I fall asleep during or skip over--I'd rather hear them sung/recited or not have them at all). I grew up listening to the books on audio that my parents had and the old animated movies scared me (though I own them all now)! But I love the whole world in whatever forms they come in and I'm sure I'll love whatever you come up with!

OMG I forgot to mention my absolute favorite character: Samwise!

I absolutely love LOTR, also the Hobbit. Movie-wise for now LOTR, after all the Hobbit isn't out yet (here), but I can't wait to see the first film!!! :D

I do know the books, too but really got even more into the movies as I love all the different cultures and the creativity - blows me away. I've attended the Swiss Middle Earth Festival a couple of times by now, which meant getting creative too (dress up, attend workshops, you get an idea :)) so I really absolutely love this.

I love using Sindarin / Tengwar (hints at my swap-bot name...), I love the elven themed ornaments, Lorien leaves, etc. I've also got a big thing for archery, so Legolas is just cool. I love the banter between him and Gimli.

However I do own 2 Lorien leaf brooches and do have a silver one ring so this isn't something I exactly need. :)

I love the Hobbits as well. If you feel like writing a Hobbits recipe book for me - anytime. LOL A Hobbits survival kit stuffed with mushrooms and potatoes however may not make it safely to Switzerland via mail... Just kidding. :)

I do love the whole fellowship and am always rooting for the good guys, too - all of them. Also love Rohan themed stuff - wonderful ornamental art there, too. :)

I'm not too much into the bad guys - they're absolutely great, but I wouldn't really want fan-stuff on Saruman if you know what I mean.

Gandalf rocks. Just saying.

If you've got any questions... simply ask. :)

I love the movies and the books. (My Dad read me LOTR when I was four and I've been obsessed ever since.) I'm a bit more obsessed with LOTR than The Hobbit, but that could change with the movie coming out.

My favourite characters are: Legolas, Aragorn, Arwen, Eowyn, Faramir (book), Gandalf, Galadriel.

I love the Elves. I want to be one. Anything to do with Sindarin/Tengwar, Lothlorien/Rivendell/Grey Havens, or any elvish characters would be amazing.

I also love all of Rohan, particularly the aesthetic of it in the movies, and the White Tree of Gondor.

I collect maps of made up worlds! (Just a hint :P)

Like everyone else, apparently, I'm more of a fan of the 'good' characters.

Oh! Also the Ents and Pippin.

Eep. What to say, what to say… my favorite character in Lord of the Rings is Faramir—in the books, when he’s a cuddly nerd, not so much in the movies. And Eowyn is just amazing at all times, not to mention Pippin. So much love for Pippin. I think he’s the one everyone wants to be when they’re thirteen and really, really into Lord of the Rings and reading the books under the desk in class and—um, I mean…

Distilled version: Faramir, Eowyn, Pippin, and Galadriel are all really awesome.

I love the books and the movies, though I like the movies more.

I love Gondor, Rohan, and all things Hobbitish. Elvish is not just awesome but beautiful.

Okay, I’m just not sure what to say so enough on that! I’m sure I’ll love whatever you send me :)

Sorry! I just realized I haven't filled this part out! Where do I begin? I love the folklore and costumes! I love Hobbitton (the warmth and richness) and Rohan (the Celtic spirit it has). I have a huge crush on SamWise & Faramir. I love the aspects of wizarding associated with Gandalf. I love the picturesqueness of Rivendale and Lothlorien. I'd love anything you'd like to send whether it be actual merchandise or something handmade. I like receiving things I can actually use or wear. I love the books and the movies. Please message me if you have any questions! Thank you! I'm sure I'll ove whatever you send!
