Description:

It's nearing the end of 2012 and I usually take these last few weeks to review all the new music I've been enjoying. I always make a top 10 list and share with friends.

For this swap, follow the directions below:

  1. Think about what your favorite album was this year.

  2. Stare at the title of it. Begin to imagine what this would look like in visual form.

  3. Draw/Collage/Paint it to make a postcard or greeting card. The idea is to convert the album's title and the feeling you get from the music into a visual representation. Try not to let the real album's artwork influence you. Make it your own!

For example, one of my favorite albums that came out this year was The Scarlet Beast O' Seven Heads by the artist Get Well Soon. This drawing could be totally literal - I could draw a beast with seven heads - or I could do some abstract interpretation of what that means to me. I would then describe how I came to make the piece on the back or on a separate card.

For rating purposes, give your partner a 5 if s/he draws/collages/paints something, says what the album was and who it's by, and explains her/his art.

You can use any kind of method to portray this word as long as the result is handmade, so collage and mixed-media are fine and dandy.

Participants must have been rated a 5 for at least 15 type 2 or 3 swaps. I will be strict about this.

Finally! Please send me a scan or photo of the card you sent and/or received so that I may put them on a blog for everyone to enjoy.

Please message me or post below any questions.
