Description:

This is a challenging list swap for book lovers. We will be coming up with titles of books or poems or plays or short stories that fit the following categories. You are not allowed to use song titles or movie titles in the list unless they are also the title of a book, poem, play or short story. :) Articles count as words.

Use each title only once.

Bonus questions are optional.

Of course you can Google every title but it would be more fun to think of them on your own if you can. :)

Along with your list of titles, send a bookmark to your partner. The bookmark may be handmade, purchased or a nice freebie.

Send your partner along with the bookmark the following items (list of titles) written or typed on a list. You can decorate the list if you would like.

1) Five books, etc. with one word titles and their authors. Example: Outbreak by Robin Cook.

(PS- This probably goes without saying but you don't have to do five books AND five poems AND five plays or five short stories. :) Just do five books' titles or a combination of books, plays, short stories or poem titles amounting to five entries.)

2) Ten books, etc. with two word titles and their authors. Example: The Shining by Stephen King. Example: Forrest Gump by Winston Groom.

3) Ten books, etc. with three word titles and their authors.

4) Five books, etc. with four word titles and their authors.

5) Three books, etc. with five word titles and their authors.

6) A book with a six word title and its author.

Bonus- A book with a seven word title and its author.

Bonus- A book with an eight word title and its author.

7) Five books with a possessive name in their titles and their authors. Example: King Solomon's Mines by H. Ridder Haggard.

8) Five books with subtitles and their authors. Example: The Hobbit: Or There and Back Again by J. R. R. Tolkien

9) Five books with a color word in their titles and their authors.

Bonus: A book with two or more color words in the title and its author.

10) A book that is not a "religious book" but that has the name of a religious figure in the title and its author.

11) Five books that were made into movies with the same titles and their authors.

12) Three books with animal names, other than cats or dogs, in their titles and their authors. Example: The Mouse that Roared by Leonard Wibberley

13) Five books with place names in their titles and their authors.

14) Five books with the word "angel" in their titles and their authors.

15) Three books with question marks in their titles and their authors.

16) A book with an amount of money listed in the title and its author.

17) Five books with numbers in their titles and their authors.

18) Five awesome book, play, poem, short story, etc. titles that you just made up.

19) A book with the word "stop" in the title and its author.

20) A book with the word "end" in the title and its author.

Bonus: A book with a purposeful misspelling in the title and its author.

Bonus: A book with a swear word in the title and its author.
(But do not send a "bad" swear if you think your partner will dislike it Just send a mild swear like "heck" or "darn." :)

Bonus: A book with your first name in the title and its author.

Swap open to swappers with 5 or more completed swaps and a rating of at least 4.98. No recent 1s or 3s or strings of 1s or 3s. I will be dropping without warning people who sign up and do not meet these qualifications.

Have fun putting on your thinking cap to come up with some titles and picking out a bookmark for your partner!

We have to do all of these by January 21st?

I love the idea of this, but I'd probably break it down into a whole bunch of swaps.

Changeling 12/27/2012 #

eepy, yes, I've been working on it tonight as a challenge to myself and think it is doable but agree with you that it is a challenge and that such a long list is not for everyone. :) Since it is not profile-based, participants could start working on it as soon as they sign up.

KateKintail 12/28/2012 #

I started making my list tonight. I'm trying to use only books I've read, which is making it even more challenging LOL

Changeling 12/28/2012 #

That's really cool! I started on my list last night too and had fun reflecting on all those books.

eepy 01/ 2/2013 #

Another quick question, I think I'm getting hooked on this and starting with only books that are in my shelves...

Is it only a coincidence that all of the examples you cite are fiction? We can use non fiction books, right?

Changeling 01/ 3/2013 #

Yes, any published book is okay.

I started with my own books too. It was fun to review them.

AZBobbi 01/ 3/2013 #

I'm already mostly done with my list already. This is such a cool swap idea! I can't wait to read my partner's selections.

eepy 01/ 3/2013 #

Thanks, Changeling. I'm in!

Unfortunately, I miss being able to be in this swap by .026 (my rating, despite all efforts, is 4.9774. However, this is such fun, I've started on it just for me. IF ANYONE WANTS TO TRADE LISTS, LET ME KNOW. Changeling, hopefully by the time you post another cool swap like this my rating will be up to your minimum! Love the cleverness!

Changeling 01/ 5/2013 #

Thanks, ReaderClub!

beadqueene 01/ 6/2013 #

This sounds like a great swap :) I'm still debating whether I will have time to compile the list or not.

beadqueene 01/ 6/2013 #

Also, are we to include or exclude the initial article? I'm inclined to exclude it because I'm a librarian :p

beadqueene 01/ 6/2013 #

edit: in the word count that is

Changeling 01/ 7/2013 #

Hi beadqueene, thanks for asking. It is up to you but since articles count as words for this swap, I would include the initial article in the word count. I know it is not correct library procedure to do so but I thought it would be easiest (for this swap) to keep the articles.

Hope you will join!

beadqueene 01/16/2013 #

Just finished my list :) I can't think of anything creative for my "made up titles" though :p

MzNavi 01/16/2013 #

Quick question: is everyone writing the question and the answer or just numbering and answering?

Changeling 01/17/2013 #

@beadqueene I had trouble with those too.

@MzNavi I wrote out the questions.

eepy 01/21/2013 #

I'm writing this on my computer, I could not possible handwrite this whole thing...

Just putting the last one in now.

Only one of these questions gave me a reallllllly bad time!
