Description:

This time we will re-order the sending order so don't send until you've checked the forum thread .

We will each make a booklet by folding 8 1/2 X 11" (A4 will work for our international friends) pieces of either 110 lb. cardstock or 90 lb. watercolor paper and sewing it down the middle (by hand or machine). We'll figure out how many pages after we see how many want to play. It could also be stapled if you absolutely couldn't sew. Just make sure that the pages fold over neatly.

Holding the booklet closed you will treat it as a fat postcard and do a journal page, collage, or painting on one side and use the other for the address, note and stamps. Apply stickers or small pieces of packing tape to the three open sides for mailing. If you would like people to stick to a theme, please put that in your first note to the partner you send to.

When you get the first mailart zine in the mail, cut open the tape, fold over a page and again treat the booklet as a fat postcard. Try to complete your page and move it along to your partner as soon as possible~~at least within two weeks. Here is the thread to keep track of whose booklet you have and how we are progressing. It would also be great if you would photograph or scan your work and post it on Flickr.

We will all work in each booklet eventually. At the end of the process we will each have our own round robin mailart zine that has traveled far and wide! Note that since we are an international group, you may be sending to the same international partner up to 10 times. Please post any questions below or on the forum page.

We have to cap this zine at 10 people, but we can do it with less.

I think I'm going with a monochromatic theme this time...maybe... :)

FarStarr 01/12/2013 #

I'll extend the times on this if we're just not ready to start yet....

FiWebster 01/12/2013 #

Would you explain about the themes, Mandy? Are we supposed to just intuit the theme from the pages so far?

FarStarr 01/14/2013 #

We would each leave a note about our themes in the written part of the zine and also on the thread.

Maybe extending the times would be nice, to give more people a chance to join in?

Yay important in!!!! Thank you angie for letting me know it was up. I've been do busy i hadn't even looked. @farrstar i think think monocromatic sounds like a good idea too!

Kattera22 01/22/2013 #

BTW the word important should be "i'm" my phones auto text is crazy!

What are some themes people are thinking of? I thought it might be fun to do something related to favorite music. Like, send a CD inside the zine for people to listen to while they make art and then ask that a snippet of lyrics be included on each page.

I also thought about corgis.

I really like the colors of blues, red, or aqua maybe... not sure yet ...

Don't pay any attention to the partner assignment!!! Check out the forum thread.

Angie I love the cd idea! I was thinking rainbow - as in ROYGBIV seven people works well
