Description:

This swap is the first of a serie to collect ATCs for your Adventcalendar 2013. Here in Germany we open 24 little gifts beginning 12/1/ until 12/24. I think in America you open 25 gifts?

Each month I will organize an exchange, each time we will make 6 ATCs and send them to 3 partners (2 ATC per partner!)

There are 8 Exchanges, so plenty of opportunity to collect your desired number of ATCs.

So here are the rules:

# ATCs must be 2.5" by 3.5" and on sturdy paper, and not too thick to fit in a standard sleeve.

# Make sure your cards are sent in an closed envelope! Your partner should open this envelope during the advent 2013 and it should be a real surprise to open it! You find many templates for ATC-sized-envelopes in the internet!

# There shouldn't be numbers on the envies, because there are more swaps going around, than one adventcalender needs packages :-) You cannot know, which numbers were sent to your partner from the other partners. I will label my incoming envies 1-24.

# The theme of the ATCs is quite open: Christmas has many facettes, maybe angels, christmas-trees, stars, gingerbread men, gifts, snow, etc. Everything that yo think is Christmas is allowed. The only thing is, it should be a real gift for your partner when he opens the envelope!

# Do your best work. The swap is sender's choice so you can get started on them right away. No slap-dash glue, smudged stamps, or crooked/ragged edges. Stickers are fine IF they are not the white-edged older style and they are fully incorporated into the artwork.

# All glitter and embellishments must be secure; tap the edge of your card on a hard surface to test this. If glitter or other items come off, you need to seal it better.

# Cards must be made by you, no re-trades for this swap please. (Re-traded cards as extras are allowed if you like though.)

# Sender's choice, but reading profiles is always nice if you'd like to take the time to make special ones.

# Be very certain you sign the backs of you ATC with your username, real name, AND the name of the swap - as well as any other info you would like to include such as contact info, geographical location, techniques used, etc.

# Please respect the fact that not everyone who celebrates Christmas is of the "Jesus is the reason for the season" mindset. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but for this swap I'd like to stay away from the story of The Nativity. Feel free to start your own swap if you would like to create cards of this type. :)

For your planning: The mailing date will be the Rudolph-day (25.) every month.

Please don't flake! I will angel, but I really hope I must not!

So, these ATC's should have the numbers 1-5 on them, to represent Dec 1, Dec 2, etc, as an advent calendar would have on it, right?

I am very confused. Do we just make nice Christmas atcs? If there are 8 swaps, then are we to do a total of 40 atcs? Thank you for helping.

Noisy 01/21/2013 #

Yes, that is it! :-) You can join at as much swap as you want - until you have collected the decired number of ATCs. Maybe not everyone is as crazy as I am and doesn't want to make christmas-themed crafts in the middle of summer, so you must not join then, but you have the chance to collect enough ATCs for your Calender nevertheless :-)

I'm planning to create small tags with the numbers 1-24 on them, and add them to the envelopes as they arrive, or even after I've collected all of them. That way, the packages/envelopes, will all be numbered, and yet will all be connected by a similar element. I'm excited about this!

Noisy 01/22/2013 #

...this is what I have planned,too :-)

We are soooo looking forward to this swap. Great idea about tagging the envelopes with numbers when they arrive at our home. What a treat it will be to open them during the holidays. Can't wait to get started. Thanks for hosting this fun swap.

You say in one paragraph that angels are ok then in another paragraph towards the end you say to stay away from angels so which is it?

Noisy 01/27/2013 #

@user 8179: Thank you, I have corrected these :-/ I have read in several profiles that some people don't want to get "angeled" stuff.

marthy 01/27/2013 #

Some confusion here about the language....On Swapbot, "to angel" is to make up to someone who has not received anything because their partner flaked out on them, sending them what they should have gotten. So...Noisy is offering to "angel", but hoping there will not be a need. But it sounds like angel images on ATCs are acceptable, even though they are part of the Nativity. I'd guess that stars, or doves or sheep would also be acceptable...Have I got it right?

Noisy 01/29/2013 #

Hey Marthy! I have edited the text! in the point with the facettes of Christmas I have angels " allowed" and in the last point I wrote "please no angels" But I meant the very religious Angels, because some of the users don't want to get such religious art. So...everything is fine :-) Btw: it is nice to see, that members read the text very
punctilious,. so everyone can be sure to get what is expected :-)

Noisy 02/ 1/2013 #

COME ON! LET'S SWAP! HAVE FUN! AND JOIN!

marthy 02/ 4/2013 #

Could we possibly have 2 or 3 partners, and send 2 cards to each? I'd be up for that, and it would still work if there are fewer participants...I love this idea, and really want to do it!

Noisy 02/ 5/2013 #

...edited :-) more ATCs for less partner :-)

marthy 02/ 5/2013 #

Yay! Thanks, Noisy!
