Description:

The Huffington Post has a fun read posted about the books people claim to have read but really haven't.

For this swap, go read 13 Books NobodyÒ€ℒs Read But Says They Have.

No, this swap isn't about reading the books. In a letter, tell two partners your experience with the 13 books. Which have you really read? What did you think? Which ones did you skim? Did you do the Cliff Notes/Sparks Notes version just to pass a test? If you started, why didn't you finish?

Include any other information that you'd like in your letter AND send your partner a bookmark for the books she/he is reading.

Here's the list:

  • The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer

  • Democracy in America by Alexis de Tocqueville

  • Ulysses by James Joyce

  • A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

  • The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie

  • Moby-Dick by Herman Melville

  • A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking

  • Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace

  • The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco

  • Remembrance of Things Past (OR) In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust

  • Don Quixote by Cervantes

  • As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner

  • War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

Recap:

Send a letter and a bookmark to two partners.
