Description:

Please make sure that it is legal to mail spices into and out of your country prior to joining this swap!

Who likes to try new flavorings for foods? Let's send spices representing our country, state, or heritage. Spices must be new and sealed. You may either send a jar/shaker or an equivalent amount in spice or seasoning packets or pouches. Let's try to send our partners something new and not send single-ingredient spices that are commonly available (basil, ground cinnamon, etc.).

The amount spent prior to shipping should be approximately $3-$5 per partner. We will each send to 2 partners. Please include a recipe or serving suggestion for using your spices! If you send spice packets with printed recipes on them, that will be fine.

What to send:

  • 1 new, sealed spice shaker or equivalent amount in spice or seasoning packets ($3-$5)
  • 2 partners each
  • recipe or serving suggestion for your spices

Swapper requirements:

  • minimum of a 4.8 rating
  • no no-sends
  • must make sure prior to signing up that it is LEGAL to send spices in and out of your country
  • new swappers are welcome with a complete profile and a private message to the swap coordinator
  • please be a courteous swapper who sends good quality swaps on time! :-)

Have fun swapping!

It does sound fun and interesting too ~ great idea sweetclementine and thank you for the invite but unfortunately I have a sensitivity to alot of spices. I don't think it would be fair to put such a restriction on my partner. But how fun would it be to get some international spices. Great idea!!!

We have 9 swappers so far:

  • 6 USA
  • 1 Spain
  • 1 Netherlands
  • 1 Canada

Come on, International Swappers, help us spice it up! :-)

I should be able to assign partners on Saturday. I can't wait!

What about salt or pepper blends? More "seasoning" than "spice" but would they count?

SweetClementine 04/ 9/2008 #

I think salt & pepper blends would be good as long as they aren't something that is locally available to your partner. I use the words seasoning and spice interchangeably, so I hadn't thought of that distinction. I'll change the swap description to clarify!
