Description:

I love making altered matchboxes and I am very much looking forward to spring... Let's make spring matchboxes!

the simple guidelines:

For this easy, international matchbox swap we will each have just one partner. You will make your partner one spring-themed matchbox - the small 32-count size matchbox (approximately 2 inches x 1.5 inches x .5 inches). You can decorate a real, empty matchbox, or download my template here and construct your box with card stock.

What is spring-themed? It could be flowers, baby animals, May Day, spring break, or anything else you can dream up. This swap is sender's choice.

You also need to fill your matchbox with spring-themed goodies. I like filling my boxes with stickers, ribbon, brads, buttons, beads, and other little embellishments. Anything goes, but make sure you send something you would love to receive.

Remember to include your name, your swap-bot username, and your email address in your package.

requirements:

This swap is international. EDIT: Everyone must have a 4.9 rating. A filled out profile is required. Unfortunately, no new members this time around.

let's swap:

Remember that you can get any type of spring-themed matchbox in this swap. If you don't like spring, flowers, or cute animals this probably isn't the swap for you. Let's have fun!

You can see lots of examples of my altered matchboxes here on Flickr.

xoxo

p.s. I DO angel my swaps. Two weeks after the send deadline, if you have NOT received and you HAVE rated your partner honestly with a 1, contact me and I will send out an angel package. Great!

please let me know early if I am too new to be in this swap. I put a lot of effort into my work.

racheljohnson 02/22/2013 #

Hi @BeeMGee - you are welcome to join! You have already been rated for two mail swaps. Happy to have you!!

KarlaKC 02/23/2013 #

Aw, I loved your Valentine's Matchbox swap and will miss signing up for this one since you've set the ratings requirement to 5. But I understand the possible reasoning behind that so no worries. Perhaps I can set up another similar matchbox swap after yours has begun. :)

I really enjoyed the Christmas and Valentines matchbox swaps. Disappointed I won't get to join this one!

racheljohnson 02/25/2013 #

@KarlaKC & @zigg13pra - You are both welcome to join!! I went ahead and changed the rating requirement to 4.9. I hate being overly strict, but I do want this to be a really safe swap. I will check over the participants closely.

Hey thanks @racheljohnson ! It was just such a surprise to see the rating requirement go up!

newsong 03/20/2013 #

Just curious, its my first time doing a matchbox swap >.< I would like to know how many things should we include in it?

racheljohnson 03/22/2013 #

Hi @newsong It is hard to put a number on the items inside the matchbox because it depends on their size. I usually include a foot of ribbon, some gems & brads, a few buttons and stickers, and maybe a 1" pin-back button or a piece of candy.

Here are two examples of my past matchboxes and what I put in them:

punk matchbox

Halloween matchbox

But you can include anything that you feel fits with the theme. I've received matchboxes with everything from lace and used postage stamps, to sea glass and tiny toys. There are many possibilities!

Thank you for the explanation and the pics! Your matchboxes are really neat! Whoever gets assigned as your swap partner will be a lucky one indeed! =)

@racheljohnson Even though I love buttons and am an avid collector, I love colour even more. I am absolutely enthralled with the second photo you put here!

I haven't done a matchbox swap yet, but for another swap, someone sent me a lovely little tin and oh my goodness! I was like a kid at Christmas!!! All the little bits and bobs she managed to fit into it! Even a gorgeous charm and a tiny bottle complete with cork!

Hmmm ... I am trying to watch my budget ... ah, what the heck! Sign me up! lol Happy swapping.

@racheljohnson thanks for providing pictures and for hosting this! Whoever has you for a swap partner is in for a treat! @newsong I have some examples of matchboxes that I created, too. Just in case you are interested in seeing more http://madkittycrafts.weebly.com/matchbox.html I love sending and receiving matchboxes!

racheljohnson 03/26/2013 #

Thanks for the great comments. I love the Wizard of Oz matchbox, @MichelleD11 !

I am looking over participants now and will get partners assigned asap. Happy swapping!

racheljohnson 03/26/2013 #

Ok, partners are assigned. There are a few users with a few low ratings, but none are recent and I have faith that this will be an awesome swap group. Happy swapping!

(Remember, I DO angel, but hopefully I won't need to.)

racheljohnson 04/15/2013 #

Happily, everyone has marked this swap as sent! Yes! So, everyone should be receiving their swap soon, but let me know if you experience any problems.

racheljohnson 04/22/2013 #

All rating options are now available. Please rate your partner honestly if you have not received and contact me. Thanks!
