Description:

It's time for a bit of mail art! So let's sent artful messages into the world!

Etegami are picture letters. Images are generally simple, of everyday objects, and hand-painted then sent as postcards. Accompanying the painting are a few handwritten words, such as a greeting.

You will create one etegami postcard. Images may be hand-drawn or painted and should be of something ordinary from your life (look around your house and town for ideas!). Write a message on the front to accompany the image. It could be a greeting, quote, poem, or thoughtful phrase. We're keeping this simple, so use your choice of paper/board for the postcard.

Send naked!

I LOVE these! Even the art-impaired like myself can make something acceptable!!

@BetsyPreston that's great! I've never made one, but someone on the lettermo site mentioned them and they seem fantastic!

It's catching! Here's a recent post on the LWA blog that might be of interest! -blog post-

I was inspired by a man on the Month of Letters website to create this swap. :)

This blog offers an etegami newsletter for anyone interested!

Any chance you could extend the send-by date by a week or two, Cassie? One week is not much time for making a small artwork, given all the other things we are doing...

@FiWebster no problem at all! I am always happy to extend dates to include & accommodate. ;)

This was fun - thanks for introducing me to this new (to me) art form!
