Description:

Simple swap for those that have a passion for poetry. I write, and I like to read poetry by others (though it makes me feel less skilled nearly every time - I'm my worst critic.)

You get 2 partners, send to both of them an envelope with 5 different poems that were written by you inside, and a short bio or a note explaining what inspired one of the enclosed poems. (If you happen to write haiku or limmericks or anything less than 8 lines in length please send 10 poems instead.) Poems may be typed, but letter or bio should be hand-written.

Realize that not everyone has the same styles/likes/dislikes/topic choices, so please be so kind as to rate a 5 as long as you get 5 poems (or 10 if short poems) and the above mentioned bio or note.

Go for a heart - send them in artistically decorated envelopes inspired by your partners profiles! (You get 2 weeks to send these to accomodate decorating envelopes as I assume the poetry already exists and is not being written specifically for this swap.)

I like this swap a lot, everything except the "handwritten" part. My handwriting is awful, I can do it but I think my partner would be happier if it were typed. I'll hand write so I don't get rated a 3 but believe me, my handwriting deserves a -3.

that is why only the note is required as hand written. if you must type it then do so, but make sure there are some elements that show that it isnt a saved file that can be just printed off to add to swaps.

Yes June I agree. ;). But such good writing!

Gee -- do people get so lazy they just send saved files? All my poems are in saved files but I won't send them looking like boring high school assignment.

Ladydy 5 has seen my handwriting and I think she is agreeing that it deserves a -3

My poems are all in a three ring binder, can I just print those? How would someone know whether or not it is in their saved folder or printed from other saving place. I am confused and since my handwriting won an award in the fourth grade I may just redo them in my hand. Whoeeeeeee!

ladydy5 04/ 2/2013 #

Never a 3 June.

barterartistmel 04/ 2/2013 #

i wasnt meaning the poems, i meant the included note portion.

barterartistmel 04/ 2/2013 #

says right in the post that poems can be typed, it was the letter part that was being questioned about.

ladydy5 04/ 3/2013 #

@barterartistmel that was not in there originally.

barterartistmel 04/ 8/2013 #

@ladydy5 - I havent editted the swap description. It is exactly as it originally was, "poems may be typed, but..." Which I had put there in the first place because I didn't assume as many people would sign up if they had to rewrite 5 of their poems by hand twice to send to their partners. In my first comment response to a remark about the swap being handwritten i explained that "that is why only the note is required as hand written."

sorry for any confusion.
