My kids and I always enjoy the countdown to Christmas, starting December 1. I thought it would be fun to create 25 different Inchies to trade, which can then be used to create an advent calendar. I will probably make a 2-D tree with magnets and attach the Inchies that I receive in this swap. If you don't know, Inchies are tiny artworks that are one inch square. They must be thick and sturdy so that they can be used to embellish an advent calendar. You will create five Inchies for five partners, making a total of 25. Please do not put numbers on the front of the inchies, since you will not know what numbers your partners will need. Just make each inchie fitting for a holiday theme (Santas, snowmen, reindeer, candy canes, holly, gingerbread men, etc.). Do your best work. Just because the surface is tiny, doesn't mean you should just put one thing on it. You can make tiny collages, ink the edges, add doodles, embellish, etc. I often coat mine with diamond glaze or another gloss to really make it seem polished. It can be a challenge to cut Inchies into perfect squares, so I use a 1"square punch. For sturdy backs, I purchase precut inchie squares online from a website, www.ellenhutson.com Be certain you sign the backs of your inchies with your username or real name, and the date. |
