Description:

This swap launches a series that I hope will carry us through the end of the year. Each month, a "Write" swap will be offered. They are all based on a great book that I found at the library. See below for author and other info if you'd like to purchase or find a copy.

The swap:

This exercise is modified to fit swapping parameters. It will be done in two parts. First you’ll need to post three things below. AFTER partners are assigned, you’ll come back and get the prompt that you’ll use those three things for.

Don’t spend a lot of time thinking about these. Put the first thing that comes to mind. Post below:

  • Any –ing verb

  • A body part

  • An inanimate object

After partners are assigned I’ll post below the prompt you will use. You’ll come back here, jot down the three words your partner posted then use the prompt to write a short piece that you will send to your partner.

This swap is based on information in: “Now Write! Fiction writing exercises from today’s best writers and teachers” edited by Sherry Ellis. Published by Jeremy P. Tarcher/Penquin. ISBN 1-58542-522-2. $13.95/softcover

Snail mail. Group membership. International.

Partners have been assigned. Here's the prompt you'll need to use with your partner's word list.

After a long day of --ing verb, he/she discovered that her/his body part had grown a/an inanimate object.
