Description:

Ok y'all, I'm jumping in with both feet to attempt hosting my first real swap. Let's make Dictionary Flower Buttons. Sorry I don't know how to post links ;/ You can google them tho.

We will start with black buttons. If there is interest, I can host a series of color & holiday flowers. Although the swap is named "Dictionary Flower Buttons", you can punch or die cut ANY sturdy cardstock, printed paper, book pages, whatever, except newspaper (due to archival quality) or use store bought flowers.

Make sure the flowers are at least one inch but no bigger then 2.5 inches & lets use a couple of layers please. If you use 1" small flowers, make 8, otherwise lets go with 6. No more than 2 buttons can have the same paper. Please cut the shanks off the buttons,if possible, in order for them to lay flat against the flowers. The buttons can be glued or sewn onto the flowers. The completed flowers should be put on used acetate, a transparency sheet or sturdy cardstock with small glue dots or whatever medium you feel will work in order to ship.

Remember we are the queens of craft & know these should be made using quality materials and be sturdy!!!!!

Check out the video. For shipping purposes I'd skip the "poofing" & leave that to the recipient.

The clicky links don't work :(

I could try them at work but wondered about that. I'll see if I can fix them.

The clicky link in the swap description should work now.

Yay! Choke, thank you so much!!

Ok, so at least 3/4 different paper sources, but each button can be multiple layers of the same paper right?

scrappermama 07/25/2013 #

Sure, as long as the papers are changed up a bit. No more than 2 flowers identical, & of course, for this round, black buttons! Have fun!

How do we ship them so they don't get all flattened and w/o costing an arm and a leg?

scrappermama 07/31/2013 #

Hey grammag, you don't need to "poof" them. The recipient can do that. What I'm going to do is use a small piece of double sided tape on the backside of each flower to tape them onto either a piece of acetate ( transparency) or card stock, put them in an envie & put a piece of shipping tape across the front & back of the envie where the buttons lie in order to prevent any tears to the shipping envie. Since we are only shipping 6 to 8 flowers I'm hoping they won't be crazy expensive. Hope this helps... I'll post a picture of mine in my Flikr photos in a few days. Thank you so much for your interest in my first swap! I hope you have fun & like your returns!

I missed the part about poofing, I just planned on using a bubble envie, or making it non-machineable, I don't mind paying the 2.07 or whatever it usually costs...so mine are pre-poofed, LOL

Aaagh! Thanks craftyxPT! I sent 8 flowers from Houston to Indiana for .86 cents... It's stinky postage has gotten outrageous ;(
