Description:

For this swap you will send at least 5 YouTube links to videos with music you recently discovered. For this swap, no top 40 or religious music. If you want to send some as extras, go for it. Put a warning before anything possibly offensive or not safe for work and tell how you discovered each one and/or why it is meaningful to you. You will send these in an email to 3 people but feel free to add them to the comments as well. That sounds fun. Keep in mind that swaps and comments on swaps are public.

Newbies and those trying to redeem themselves are welcome but you will get 3 shiny new low ratings if you flake. No duplicate profiles. If I find out you are up to those sort of shenanigans, you will be banned and reported. I will also glare at you. I'm not into empty threats:)

I am a newbie, and am definitely interested in joining this. Sounds like a lot of fun! Just a quick question to clarify... Sending youtube video means that I will be sending the link to the video clip via e-mail? Or are there any other ways to send it?

wyrdfae 07/24/2013 #

@flyingfox - just send the links. No actual videos. You are correct that my description was not clear.

@wyrdfae Thank you for clarifying!

you can, but do not have to post these in the comments. you must also sent them in an email to your partners. There is no way around that :)

I discovered this song because Allison Scagliotti is in the video.

Low by Bummer

This one came to me both on Allison Scagliotti's recommendation and from Stephen Thompson's best of SXSW list. Electronica named for the outsider artist, Ken Grimes. You can follow Stephen Thompson @idislikestephen on Twitter. Great music recommendations for reals. You can stream her music Grimes Oblivion by Grimes

Another band I discovered from Nerdist.com's interview with Allison Scagliotti. Disparate Youth by Santigold

I made a video of me and tried to get into this video. My name and twitter handle are totally in the credits though! Nothing to Prove by The Doubleclicks

This one I discovered on the All Songs Considered podcast. Another new band with an 80s electronica sound. Warning: Language! :) She Will by Savages

Edgar Allen Poe poem turned into a bluegrass song - amazing! I don't remember where I first heard this, but I am over 30 so probably NPR. it's a little older, but one of my favorites. Warning: Banjos! Annabelle Lee by Sarah Jarosz

New! Another I heard on the All Songs Considered podcast. I love Neko Case! Warning: Language! ( a little at the end) Man by Neko Case

Orange is the New Black is my new favorite show. The theme song is good enough I didn't mind hearing it 13 times over the few days I mainlined it and I wouldn't mind hearing it way more. You've Got Time - Regina Spektor

Pitch Perfect is one of the best movies ever. Anna Kendrick's character's audition song: Cups by Lulu and the Lampshades

^ The Doubleclicks were on my list, too! Yeah, geek girls!

I love them! I love that Wil Wheaton and Paul and Storm made signs too.

This is why you always test your code. Some of my links do not work but usually you can delete the part about swap or in the browser bar.
