Description:

Recently I fell in love with washi tape, or masking tape! So far I only have a few rolls of them, so I'm continually looking for new tape patterns.

This is a simple yet inexpensive way to expand your tape collection!
Send your two partners both at least 4 different masking tape pattern samples as shown in the photo.
If you find, you may use a plastic sheet(I'm not exactly sure how to call it) or you may craft a similar sheet by yourself! You need just a piece of carton and clear plastic tape to cover the carton on it(so that your partner can remove the tape off it easily and use it)

The measurements of your base on which you'll roll tapes:
Length: about ~10 cm(can be longer if your tapes are wide)
Width: about ~3,5 cm

You should roll at least 8 circles(about 56cm) of each tape onto the base.
Because I'm so poor at explaining, this is the picture that I drew to
demonstrate: http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af290/mochisan/ohje_zps83581ea3.png

To summarize:
-Two partners
-Send each one of them 4 different tape pattern samples(so you'll receive 8 new patterns to your collection, yay!)
-You must send ONLY washi/masking tape(paper tape), NO deco-tapes!!

This is an international swap and in order to join you must have at least 5 completed type 2 swaps and no recent/unexplained 1s or 3s. I'll go through profiles and ban every suspicious person!

Questions? Don't be shy and just ask!!

EDITED 1.9. I have changed the total cycles of 15 to only 8 because I noticed the 15 cycles for two partners needs a lot tape! I hope this small change is fine to you and please say if not!

I just have 1 question...could someone please just explain to me the difference between WASHI & DECO TAPE? before i decide to join.

McPaintPants 08/26/2013 #

washi tape is matt, like masking tape, it is semiopaque. Deco tape is shiny like scotch tape /cellophane tape, and is transparent. I think it is also thinner than washi tape. Deco tape is also thinner I think...

please correct me on this if I'm not on the mark

Washi tape is made of paper, like the masking tape you buy at a hardware store, except with nice colours and patterns. You can tear it with your fingers, and when you've stuck it to paper you can peal it off without damaging the paper and re-stick it.

I've seen some people use the term washi tape only for paper tapes made in Japan (where they were invented), and deco tape for paper tapes made elsewhere (which I think often tend to be of a different, sort of flimsier quality). But I've also seen many people say washi tape about all decorative paper tapes, and deco tape about decorative plastic tapes. Plastic deco tape of course is like regular scotch tape except coloured and patterned, you have to cut it with scissors and once it's stuck to paper you can't tear it off without ruining both paper and tape.

It seems to me in this case the host is using the latter definition, but it's probably best to let her tell us.

thanks @Basilika and @McPaintPants you have both helped me, i like WASHI tape and now i know that deco tape ruins your paper i will stay clear of it - so many people selling it here in New Zealand call it all washi when in fact alot of it isnt. Il wait for the co-ordinator to verify what the swap is for and make my decision

Many people already discussed about this matter but yes, I mean that we send only those paper tapes which you can tear by your fingers. I've seen that they are called washi, or masking tapes. I think deco-tape is similar to the normal clear plastic tape, but it has a nice patters. So no that kind of tapes, only paper tape! Hope I explained it well enough:)

(Just want to make sure I have enough tape around for this swap. )3.5 cm x 2 as a cycle, and then 15 cycles that is roughly around 105cm. With 2 partners > 210 cm for each pattern???

Jungpo 09/ 1/2013 #

@leemeow yeah, that's right. but i just noticed that's quite a lot of tape for someone who haven't a lot of tapes. So I've decided to change the 15 cycles to only 8(so that's only 56cm/tape desing) I hope this small change is fine to everyone!!

LeeMeow 09/ 2/2013 #

thank you for editing the length, now i can join for sure!!

CynthiaMH 09/ 7/2013 #

Hello. I'm sorry I have 1 rating. Because my recipient hasn't received my card. But now I'm asking her to cancel my 1 rating until my card arrive at her. So could you please join this swap?

Jungpo 09/ 7/2013 #

@CynthiaMH I'll let you join because you've received good ratings from all the other swaps and because you explained your 1 rating before-hand. I hope you're trustworthy!!

CynthiaMH 09/ 7/2013 #

@Jungpo Thank you very much! I really appreciate you!
