Description:

This swap is for High School Teachers ONLY Grades (9th thru 12th). Every year for the Fall semester, I have my High School Art students make 10 ATC’s as a filler project. We then select the 30 best Artist Trading Cards and send them to another high school class in exchange for 30 ATC’s done by their high school art class. Because we cover several types of media, the cards can be done in any media that the student wishes to do. Collage, watercolor, tempera, acrylic, mixed media, metal….you name it, you can use it! Obviously, must be school appropriate!

Here is the swap. You will get your HIGH SCHOOL ART Class to make 30 artist trading cards, any theme, any medium. (I always have my students make matching envelopes for each card that is sent. This way, it will be a surprise to each student who receives one.) Each card will be in its own envelope. (There are templates for ATC envelopes on line and I will provide a link to put onto this page). I have 180 art students because I live in a two high school town. If you only have 10 High School students in your art program then they would each need to make 3 cards totaling 30 for your school and would receive 3 cards in the bunch that are sent to you. The send out date will be the Friday before Thanksgiving break. This will give you at the very least, 2.5 months to get the cards and envelopes ready.

I make about five cardstock templates of the envelopes for my students to trace on to drawing paper and then they design them.

This is a very important swap as there are children involved. Please be sure that only the first name of the student and the name of your school are on the back of each card that is sent. I am really looking forward to this exchange and hope that many of you will find it a helpful incentive for a filler project for your class. I would like to add this year that one year; we received some very well made cards. The problem was that the subject of each card was the initial of the maker of the card in 3D. They looked great! Only, when I passed them out, I had cards with initials of students who did not share the same initial. Please be mindful that even though the ATC is a personal example of your student’s personality and creativity, the recipient would also like to relate to the ATC as well.

Lastlly, I would like each teacher to send three of their own ATC's to their partner. It does not have to be profile specific. Show off your own art! .

you do NOT have to include the three teacher atc"s this year. I just added that so i would have it written down for next year's swap! DO NOT RATE AGAINST THIS!
