I'm still new, and I have a question about what sticker slapping is exactly. Is it okay to use a sticker quote as long as there are other embellishments?

Adventurer 09/15/2013 #

What about digital cards and do they all need to be originals not copies?

BevT 09/15/2013 #

@jburb - What I consider as sticker slapping is when you use nothing but stickers to design your card. One or two stickers are okay but you must add several other elements to your card to complete the design.

Example: I use a sticker of an elephant as my focal image but I will also add layers of paper for my background, some lace or ribbon, ink my edges and then add embossing powder on it and add some type of wording and a rhinestone. Now you have a completely designed ATC using a sticker as your main image. I hope this was hopeful.

@Adventurer - I am not quite sure what's your question. This is an atc swap so you will design your ATC and then add a quote to it. You can hand write your quote or use a printer to print it out. No, the quote does not have to be original. You can use any quote you want.

Sorry if I wasn't making sense. I don't want to appear nit-picky but I know other swappers have been caught out like I have with atc swaps. I joined a swap where the sender sent photocopies of their cards and because it wasn't listed that the atc had to be the original I was stuck with it. Also some people create theirs digitally and just print it out calling it an original, hence swap descriptions needs to say if you are wanting layers and multi techniques. It's quite disheartening to get a piece of paper stuck to card.

Okay, good. I've been doing it okay. I have a whole bunch of older scrapbooking stickers that have quotes that fit perfectly on an ATC. I'm glad I can use them. I would never just leave that sticker by itself, though.

Wow @Adventurer I haven't gotten on of those yet! How awful! A picture of their work? Weird... lazy too. Making an ATC is FOR the person, not to SHOW the person..."Look what I did"... just plain weird!

Can the quote be made up by me?

Can it be words cut from a book?

LOL that is why I asked if it can be made up by me?

Below is going on about the problems @adventurer has mentioned.

@adventurer I would feel that the swap is not met, an ATC is artist trading card. a card you are able to trade, not a copy of someones work, that is not tradable.

I hope you rated fairly and rated a three for anyone that would send a copy of the work they did , not the actual work.

I do a lot of drawing, and stick that paper to a card, but it is my art and all original. Not a copy of what I made. I have had a few ATCs I liked that I made that I felt I had to keep, Very few though.

I am learning how to layer atcs, when the swap lends itself to that.

A digital printout of an ATC once again fails to meet the card part of the atc.

DTC is probably a term for digital trading card. and that should be kept via computer, unless youa re showing photos of your work, not swapping ATCs.

I did get a delightful metal made atc that was designed via a computer, but the last part, had to be hand glued. (that was the googly eye happy monster). But there is no way it was a printed paper copy glued on a cardboard.

BevT 09/27/2013 #

@fawnscrafts - The type of quote is totally up to you. : )

BevT 09/27/2013 #

@Adventurer - This swap is not a digital printout swap but if you do have a problem let me know and I will personally send you one.

AimeeTheGreat 09/28/2013 #

I have always thought digital atc would be if a person created something on the computer and printed out a limited quality (1 of 6, for example). A photocopy doesn't count! that's horrible!!

AimeeTheGreat 09/28/2013 #

Also, technically the point of the ATC is to meet another person and enjoy their art/perspective.

My SEND TO partner is from Australia. :|

@oddbroad - Sorry!! I will send you the postage for this international swapper. Yesss this was a USA only swap but sometimes there are some that slip through. Again I apologize for this issue, it partly my fault.

Mak 10/12/2013 #

I must apologise, I did not see it was a USA only swap. I am so very sorry, I have only just noticed when I saw the comment on the swap. Please accept my apologies. It is my fault, I just did not read it correctly as I was excited about the actual swap.
