An Interactive Postcard #1

Send each of your partners a postcard, designed by you. When the postcard reaches its destination, its journey will not quite have ended, as your partner will then follow whatever instructions you have provided to make something from or otherwise do something with the postcard they have received. (Instructions may be included on either picture or address side of card, whichever works best for your idea.)

For example, the picture side could include:

  • A coded message to 'translate'
  • A colouring page
  • A puzzle to complete (eg wordsearch, cross word)
  • Directions to cut & fold the postcard to construct another item
  • A secret 'compartment' with something hidden inside
  • A perforated/tear-off portion*
  • Anything else which involves further use of the postcard by the recipient!

Welcome to the wonderful world of mail art!

Just a note of caution - perforating with a paper trimmer may mean your postcard is too susceptible to 'separating' in transit (I know this from experience!). An alternative is to perforate using a pounce wheel or pattern wheel - or just draw a dotted line with instruction to cut!

Requirements

  • Your postcard should be no smaller than 5Ò€ x 3.5Ò€ and no larger than 5Ò€ x 7Ò€.

  • Postcards should be handmade by you or printed up from your own design. Please make sure your postcard is sturdy enough to withstand mailing and any interactive elements firmly secured.

  • Postcards should be mailed naked, not within an envelope.

  • Make sure you include your user ID on the postcard, so that you can be rated!

  • Late swaps & low ratings will all be checked before assigning partners, so please contact me if you think there might be a problem.
