Description:

Let's have Old Christmas like the old-time folks did long ago!

This is a swap to celebrate Old Christmas Day, January 6, and the Twelve Days of Christmas leading up to it. This is a swap about very old ideas of time and celebration, not just a "retro" or "vintage" holiday swap.

My Virginia mountain ancestors celebrated, and some are still celebrating, Old Christmastime as "Breaking up Christmas." Here is a great page on it: http://oldtimeparty.wordpress.com/2011/12/25/breaking-up-christmas/

You can read about Old Christmas Day here: http://www.anoldfashionedchristmas.com/oldchristmasday.html

Old Christmastime has always been a time of magic, happy superstitions and new hope for me. Unlike our commercialized and noisy Christmas of today, I feel like Old Christmas is a time of quiet and true celebration in which I can connect with the past and future.

If you feel the same, let's celebrate Old Christmas by sending our partner the following things to enjoy on or before January 6, 2014:
something fun or festive to eat,

something fun or festive to drink,

an accessory like a scarf or pin to wear in the new year,

and a surprise to enjoy for the coming year.

You can also tell your partner about Christmas and Old Christmas celebrations, or other traditions of your family in this time, of which you know or in which you participated.

The package should average around $17 dollars before shipping.

Please take shipping time into consideration to make a best effort that your swap arrives on or before January 6, so that your partner can have it to enjoy on Old Christmas Day.

In the spirit of the old days, locally made and handmade items are encouraged. But old-fashioned store bought "purties" are also fine. :)

Swap open to established swappers, (with at least 7 successful package swaps), a minimum 4.99 rating, no 1s or 3s in the past year and no no-attempt-to-resolve 1s or 3s. Please do not sign up if you cannot send on time.

I will have to drop without notice anyone who does not meet these qualifications, has a fishy profile, or has late unsent swaps on their dashboard at the time partners are assigned.

The swap is international and is open to those of all faiths and traditions. Pagan friends who honor this time of year are welcome. By signing up, you are agreeing to rate your partner fairly and respect her traditions and beliefs.

Let's ring in Old Christmas!!!

it´s a shame I can´t join. 6th January is very celebrated in Spain: we are visited by the 3 Wise Men, who are the ones that leave presents in Spain (our St. Claus). It´s my favourite day of the year!!!!.
