Description:

Easy as can be...

Step 1: Grab a security envelope, and carefully loosen the gummed sides.

Step 2: Glue the envelope back together with the security design on the outside.

Step 3: Decorate the envelope with rubber stamped images, collage, or paint, or set it on fire (just kidding). Basically, whatever takes your fancy. (You can also be a rebel and decorate the envelope before you glue it back together...)

Step 4: Include a letter to your partner. Tell them why you enjoy snail mail and mail art. It doesnÒ€ℒt have to be a novel - at least one full page will do the trick. (Letter/A4)

Step 5: Slap some pretty postage on it and youÒ€ℒre done!

Remember to include both the swap name and your username. Please be courteous and rate promptly upon receiving!

Sorry for this stupid question, but what exactly is a security envelope?

devilspigeonhole 12/10/2013 #

Not a stupid question at all!

A security envelope has a pattern printed on the inside, which makes it difficult to see the contents. They are used for bills, bank statements, etc.

Now I want to do this with all my envelopes!!...LOL

It's a lot of fun to turn something so mundane into something extraordinary. Addictive, @dogkisses :)

Thanks :)

This sounds fun! Would you host one similar to this where you would include bits of ephemera instead of a letter?

devilspigeonhole 12/27/2013 #

@LindaRichards - depending on how well this swap is received, I am planning on hosting this every month with a different tuck-in. Was thinking of used postage stamps next, but why not ephemera? :)

@devilspigeonhole that sounds fantastic! Thanks!
