Description:

The January 2014 Fandom in a Bag swap is for the Henson movies The Dark Crystal and/or Labyrinth.

Step 1: Step 1: Please list in the comments your favorite movie, characters, moments, scenes, or any other preference you may have.

Step 2: After partners are assigned, check to see what your partner likes. You can follow-up with a message if you need to know more. Then scrounge up, buy, and/or create items that fit in a bag. Your bag must contain at least 7 different types of items although more is certainly encouraged (PLEASE try to make it look full).

Some ideas of themed items: stickers, ATCs, postcards, toys/action figures, comics, note cards, pins/buttons, magnets, jewelry, trading cards, legal music CDs, charms, ornaments, books, bookmarks, address labels, postcards, plushies/stuffies, promo stills/autograph cards, fainfic, zines, etc.

More specific ideas: handdrawn maps, crafted door knocker, globes, crystal shard on a necklace, Froud art design books/pieces, knitted/model Labrynth worm, Fizzgig plushie, etc.

Be sure to check your partner's profile so you don't send anything he or she might be allergic to.

Step 3: Put the items in a ziplock-type bag. Size: 1 gallon (measures about 10 inches by 11 inches or 28cm by 26.5 cm). You can decorate the bag or incorporate the bag into something (mount it or sew something around it). If you want to make or buy a bag instead of using a ziplock plastic one, that's fine as well, but it should be at least a gallon in size. All items you gather or create should fit into the bag (if a couple are too big, that's fine).

Assemble your bags during the month of January and please send by the deadline (February 1).

Group rating rules apply. NO FLAKING ALLOWED! You will be sent into the Labrynth to be poked to death by Skeksis.

I'm a big fan of almost everything Henson Studios puts out, so I definitely liked these two movies & their "muppets." My favorite of the two movies is definitely the Dark Crystal. I like Labrynth (I own it on DVD, certainly) but I LOVE the Dark Crystal.

Brian/Wendy Froud's art and puppets are one huge reason I like these movies; I'd love anything related to their art or puppets. I've had the chance to meet them both a few times at FaerieCons and even went to special midnight showings of both movies that Brian Froud provided the introductions for. I've briefly met Toby (their son and the baby in Labrynth) at FaerieCons as well. So anything related to Froud art would be welcome!

I love the Gelflings, Fizzgig, and the Mystics. The Skeksis and Aughra used to freak me out when I was a kid! I can't say I grew to like them, but I love the art design and the place they have in the overall movie. I love Jen and his flute and Kira and her wings. And I love the pure fantasy and adventure of the movie. I also really like the balance between the Mystics and the Skeksis. I love maps of fantasy worlds.

As for Labrynth, I like the Henson puppets/art design and David Bowie's Jareth is so incrediby awesome/hot (and I don't actually own any Bowie CDs, though I really like his music). But I'm really more of a fan of the Dark Crystal.

Feel free to message me if you get stuck or have any questions.

I never fully got into the Dark Crystal, but I am a huge fan of the Labryinth! My favorite character was the worm ^.^ I would rewind my VHS dozens of times just to hear his short little part. I also thought the door knockers were awesome and who can forget Jareth's package. Come on we were all thinking it :p I love the whole movie the Labryinth not just one section though I will say that the little Ambrosius guy gave me nightmares so please nothing with him on it or about him. He freaked me out :p I don't wanna write a novel in here so if my partner has any questions please feel free to ask me =]

Labyrinth is my all time favourite movie. I know that movie like the back of my hand. I've also read the book and a few of the original scripts. Jareth is my favourite character, by far. I really enjoy the whimsical, dark atmosphere of the Underground, the winding Labyrinth, goblins, door guards, eyeball plants, crystals, peaches (!!), glitter, The Bog Of Eternal Stench, etc. And the ball...truly lovely. Honestly, I just love every element of the movie. And I think Sarah is just a wee bit crazy (though I still like her, too). I am not fond of what they did in 'Return to Labyrinth'; it just doesn't feel like the same setting to me, idk. Any questions, just ask me :)
