Description:

When I was in junior high my friends and I bought a notebook and passed it around in between classes. We each had one and it circulated over and over again. We wrote whatever we wanted to in it and it was a lot of fun.. I love reading it still today.

In this swap you will get either an notebook or a thick journal and you will write in it for couple of weeks. It doesn't matter what you write-funny things-recipes-pictures-stickers--just write--and send it to your partner. In round two your partner will write in your journal and send it to the next person. I will host these swaps every month for a year and in the last swap you should send the journal back to the person who started it.

So you will need a notebook/journal with your name and address in it so that it can make it's way back to you this time next year. You will also need to include your swap bot ID

This swap will take a HUGE commitment and trust. If you sign up for round one you are expected to sign up for the next 11 rounds. After this first round of sign-ups this swap will be made private- anyone at that point can drop out- but you must complete the round that you are in so the journal can keep traveling. I will try to get your journal back to you but please consider that dropping out may mean that you lose your journal. I will require that you contact me at the beginning of every month with the name of the person's journal that you have as well as contact me when you send that person's journal off to the next partner (and that partners name). That way I can keep a spreadsheet and be able to track everyone's journal

Sadly--if you get flaked on there won't be any angels... so the guidelines are this:

ratings of 4.7 or higher with 10 swaps completed. I will be reviewing everyone's profile and if you make me twitch a little I will either say, " no" or PM you with a load of questions.

Please keep your journal writing clean. Respect religion and other things that are just a big no, no to talk about. You never know who has the journal, who is reading it, etc.. oh, and please sign your month out with your swap -bot name, maybe your real name and the city you live in. This is international so

Have fun--

Sign ups are from now to the 15th with send outs on 6/20/08. So get to writing! Round two will be posted on 7/1 and send outs the 20th.. like that from there on. This is Set up with those dates so that international journalist have time for mail to go to and fro--

You might get your own journal back within this next year so write away! If this goes well I will keep it up past next year--

Please sign -up only if you are able to sign up for another 11 rounds.

Ratings will be month to month and 5 is always given as long as you send it off -- and the person gets the next notebook-- hearts can be given for extra stuff in someones notebook- it's up to your partner to rate accordingly--

Hi...

How do we get rated on this? Because if the computer radomly pairs us up, then we might get the same partner twice. Or if you ignore the computer and you pair us up, then who will rate if the computer already has paired us up?

Mojo 06/ 2/2008 #

Just a suggestion...

maybe set up the following swaps as private ones, to ensure that the same people are in all of them?

Muriel 06/ 2/2008 #

I agree with Mojo.

Hi! Regarding the sign-up date... in the description it says it is the 15th, yet up top it says the 10th. Is there any chance it could be the 15th? As I know there is no way I could have 10 swaps by the 10th, but am quite certain I could by the 15th. If not, I will join up next round, but I thought I'd ask just in case^_~ This swap really looks like a lot of fun!

how do you guys feel about delivery confirmation numbers? It's a free service with the post office?

CADLady 06/ 2/2008 #

Had to sign up for this! Let the journaling begin!

Mojo 06/ 2/2008 #

The only thing with delivery confirmation is that you can't get it here in the UK!! I can get a sending slip to prove I've sent it but I don't think delivery confirmation is free... Anyway, I'm not sure this is the kind of thing people will flake on, is it? I mean, what would they get out of it?? A used journal!!

Muriel 06/ 2/2008 #

i can't get delivery confirmation here in sweden either

Oh, I've got a great journal I've been waiting to do something wonderful with. So, we should start journaling right now, so we'll be ready to send it off on the 20th. Is that correct? I've been thinking about this all day at work. ( ok, my work is boring, so I needed something else to think about LOL ).

jnaos 06/ 3/2008 #

OK--that's good to know about international DC's so we will say no to those- my thing with flakers is that they just won't write in it and it will sit on someones shelf and become a doodle pad-- those are my worries.

jnaos 06/ 3/2008 #

Oh and yes, do start writing.. it's your journal then it will be ready to go on the send out date.

AuroraMya 06/ 3/2008 #

Is there a recomened size of journal or page amount? And how many pages are we supposed to fill in each time we get a journal? Is the idea to write in it each day for the time we have it or.....?

jnaos 06/ 3/2008 #

You can write in it whatever you want and as often as you want-- Mine is an average size journal that I plan on sending. I would think that you wouldn't send just a paragraph and call it good but I don't want to say you MUST write in it every night-- You can include other things aside from your writing-- pictures- stickers--places of interest--whatever you want to include. Just make sure they adhere to the pages... doodles count to-- every time you have a journal make it your own-- The fun is the adventure of the journal and the places it goes, what kind of stories and trinkets it aquires. Really it will take a good two years to fill a journal if this swap stays in the low numbers.

CADLady 06/ 4/2008 #

I'd recommend each of us send a little PM to our journal owner AND our recipient as we send the journal forward. That way we can sort of keep-up-with "our" journal on its travels. :)

Mojo 06/ 8/2008 #

CADLady - splendid idea!

jnaos 06/ 8/2008 #

sounds good to me-- I am also getting Pmd so I know where your journal is at.

shelleym 06/ 9/2008 #

Best. Project. EVER!! I'm pretty excited. I've already made my journal and have been writing in it for several days. I can't wait to see where this takes us.

Littlelina 06/ 9/2008 #

What a great idea...I've just signed up for this swap...going to start writing in it right now..would you be able to explain how it all works and how we get our partners to rate and that...sorry...I'm a bit slow...

jnaos 06/10/2008 #

This first month is a public swap-- after this month it goes private-- you simply write in the journal or the person you get for that that month. Extra hearts if you stick extras (stickers, etc) for the journal "getter".. but you always get a 5 as long as you send the journal onto the next person. I require that you contact me so that I know who's journal you have and also contact me when it is sent out in the next round. I should add that if something is stuck inside the journal do not remove it-- it's part of the journal The idea is to just write about anything and everything that comes to mind. There is no theme to it, other then the journal itself traveling to it's next place. It's kind of an all walks of life thing. What you will probably discover is that no matter where it lands-- we all have things in common-- just the view from the front door maybe different...

lw2dragonflies 06/10/2008 #

this will be a lot of fun! i cant wait to see a day in the life of everyone!

FingersInc 06/13/2008 #

I'm having fun with mine, I think I'm making more of an "art Journal" than a "what I did today" journal. But we are all different, so I'm quite interested in what everyone else puts in theirs. Just have fun I figure ! ( insert smile here )

jnaos 06/15/2008 #

waiting for the magical button to appear that says assign partners-- it's 12:18 AM on the 16th and nada.. grrr

jnaos 06/23/2008 #

I see all have sent but 2- if you are having any problems please let me know-- I don't want to see people get flaked on for this. Time and work goes into these. Remember the next sign up will be on the first and in order for it to work it is important to send in a decent time frame-
