Description:

You are signing up to participate in a tip-in altered book swap. A tip-in is basically just like book altering, but instead of getting a book with pages to alter – you create pages to put in or to create an altered book. All tip-ins have different size requirements. For this one I would ask that you take an 8 ½ x 11 inch sheet of sturdy cardstock and turn it so that the height is 8 ½ and the width is 11. Fold the sheet across (horizontally) so you have a double page spread. Then alter away!!!

The theme for this swap is “green".. anything green from paint to embellishments.. no specific subject matter - that part is up to you. You will have 2 partners and you will need to send one double page spread to each of your partners – and you will receive one back from each of your partners. I would also like for you to make a signature tag for each of the double page spreads you send out so that if your pages are included in a book the owner can have info on all of the artists. Remember to leave an allowance in the middle of the spread to allow for binding, keep bulky embellishments away from the center of the page, and try to minimize heavy embellishments.

The ultimate goal would be to have enough pages for an entire book – so I plan on posting more of these swaps if this one goes well.

Louisiana Momma isn't here at swap-bot anymore and told me I could go ahead and continue hosting these tip-ins. I hope it'll go well with me as the new host.

is this an international swap?

sungazer 12/21/2006 #

Just to make sure I understand this: we each make a page and keep the page someone else makes, and eventually we want to each have enough pages to have our own book?

lob 12/21/2006 #

Yes, it's international. It'll cost about $1.40 to send this overseas from the U.S., if it's just a single sheet of paper folded in half in an envelope (plus embellishments).

You'll be making 2 tip-ins total. One for each partner. You'll receive 2 tip-ins to keep, from 2 different partners.

Though I made 3 tip-ins last time and kept one of my own for myself. From the 2 previous swaps, I now have 6 tip-in pages that I can put in an altered book. I'd like to keep doing this and have enough to fill an altered book.

Should we embellish/alter each side of the sheet..........so 4 pages in all with a central 'spine' area.......yes? Does that make sense to you? So front and back coverage on the 8.5 x 11 sheet?

easily consufed me <<<<<<<< I like the sound of this, will certainly try this one and would also like to put togther a 'co-operatively collected' book too!

well how clever am I!!! No idea why that comment came so arty farty style!

lob 01/ 1/2007 #

Hi Linie! No, just the 2 "pages" on one side of the paper. SO, you'll have the whole back side blank to attach to a book or to each other.

Ahhhh of course, makes sense that that, why didnt I suss that........dohhhhh thanks

Right at the top of the swap page it says: "as a member of this swap you can:". In that box, click on "upload swap image". You search your computer and click on your image. Then...majic...it appears in the swap gallery. My work has blocked any personal blog sites so I'll check out your pictures when I get home.
