Description:

In this swap you will send your partner 1 artist deco. You are free to send more than one deco to your partner.

If you choose create a new quality artistic deco try using the "weird words" below: Use any combination of these words for your theme (the words can be in any combination): Castle, Dream, Happy, Party, Face, Frog, Vintage, Tulip, Blue, Sparkly,  Star, Shadow, Dog, Coffee, Hobby, Perform, Shoe, Love, Red, Children, Cold, Place, Run, Feet, Nose, Chili, Fruit, Soft, Historical, Building, Visit, Time, Watch, Eye, Space, Plane, White, Hair, Beige, Brown,  Black, Purple, Style, Car, Animal, Spot, Yellow, Feather, Village, Fruit, People,  Winter, snow, cat, sweet, Fast (Using these words is not required)

An artistic deco is a handmade quality art booklet, it's similar to friendship book only nicer! FBs are just for addresses . . . an artistic deco is when you decorate a page and send it on.

  1. Bind your book using tying, gluing but NO STAPLES! Make it durable enough to survive several rounds! A super easy binding is punching 2 holes in the spine through the cover and pages and tying with a piece of ribbon.

  2. Make your book with 3 or 4 pieces of paper making 6 or 8 pages TOTAL (lots of pages means it will take longer to get it back) and it should not be larger than 5"x5", it shouldn't cost a mint to mail! And in future swaps you will be mailing more than one!

  3. *****DO NOT cover the front and back of the book with any clear adhesive sheet or tape.*****

The plan is to do this swap once a month. Soon you will have several Art deco books filled with pages completed by other art deco swappers!

You must have a 5 to join!

I'm sure I won't have to but, I will angel if necessary!! : )

Well now my butt is totally confused! Do you have a sample of what you are trying to do? So does this mean you will always keep doing a new book each round? At what point does one decide it's the end then or what if someone doesn't join in another round? Can the words become plural as instead of Love it becomes Loves? How does one rate the first round or subsequent rounds if they don't know when they will get it back? I guess I am such a newbie with Decos to try to figure it out. Let me know when you get my first one if I should have done something different. Mine will seem more like a chunky book :O

Needlewings I don't want to confuse you or anyone else. (I edited the swap above)

Make decos without staples and tape (don't cover the pages or cover with clear packing tape. That's it!

These are small books with 3 or 4 sheets of paper (making 6 or 8 pages total) so time to make and postage should be minimal.

You'll still get them back you will just have a few books in rotation. You rate according to what you receive from your partner in each swap.

If someone does not join the swap again they will pass it on to another swapper later (just like with FBs) and you will still get it back, just make sure your address is in it.

Using the plural of a word is fine!

I'm sure your first deco is fine. I'll let you know when I get it.

Would like to see one of these finished as I too don't quite understand it.

Okay, I went to your profile and clicked on your Flickr page and see what you mean. There is also one which just sends pages decorated with photos etc. on Traveling Photo group.with just pages.

I truly didn't understand when I sent the first book out as I added a front and back cover with an added 6 pages in between as I am thinking that each person has a front and back they would work on. So that is not correct? I was working on this current one, and I assumed I put the words I chose on the front cover and art work or was it for the words only? OR does my theme go on the inside cover and my decoration on the outside. I suppose it doesn't really matter does it? That is why I was asking if you have an example. I have done a thinner book this time and will just use ribbon to temporarily tie it to cut down postage and when it gets back will put a different binding on it. I have done some books many years ago and never did find their way back. However I do like the fact that they have to have a 5 rating so maybe it will be a better controlled incentive. Certainly not fool proof by any means. I will post this book on my flickr page to show you what mine look like, so yeah or nay you can use for a good or bad example. LOL

Wanda, It sounds like the first book was fine!! Some put the theme on the cover and if it needs any further explanation they write more inside.
Notice the monochrome girls book, she wrote the theme on the back with her address and that was it!
If the title is self explanatory just add your address inside. OMG the deco covers you put on your flicker page rock!! Add a couple pieces of folded paper and you are set!

needlewings 01/19/2014 #

Notice the monochrome girls book? Who is monochrome girl? Picked out several not so weird words in a weird combination.... Red Nose Party Cat Performs for Sparkly Star Space Dog. LOL
Add a couple of pieces of folder paper???? My pieces are round, hmm... Things just get curiouser and curiouser. I think the bad thing about doing things like this is that there is not date of when the swap is actually finished so if there is a problem we wouldn't know who to ask to track of where it ended up if it didn't come back to you. At least I send tracking when they go out.

fiberlady23 01/21/2014 #

I just meant add a few round pages. I like your word combinations!

trula 01/26/2014 #

I've never done an Art Deco before, but I've always wanted to. If I can get it together, this sounds like a lot of fun!

Smoreau 01/28/2014 #

Am new to this site - but this swap looks like something I would love. How do I get rated?

fiberlady23 01/29/2014 #

@Smoreau After you join a swap and the signup/drop deadline has passed you will be able to access your partners name and address. Send your item to your assigned swap partner by the deadline, make sure to include your username and the swap name. Your partner will rate you when they get your swap item. Your rating will appear at the bottom of your profile page and in the box on the right top of your profile page. : )
