Description:

Hi everyone. Hope you’re all doing well!

This is the “Artist Tribute swap. I love art, as I’m sure most of you do. You will send one (1) partner an ATC that represents one of your favorite artists. It could be Vincent Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Picasso, etc. You choose the artist. It can be modern or Victorian… any era will do. It can be a street artist, an indie artist... any artist your heart desires. But wait, that is not all… for this swap you will have to be VERY creative and use pastels, markers, glitter, anything. Decorate the ENTIRE envelope with the artist you choose. Keep in mind you do NOT have to draw anything exactly like the artist: for example, Van Gogh had a very splotchy way of painting… do that. Picasso liked to put eyes and noses all over the place… you can do something similar. Get the idea? Make sure to include a note of the artist you are representing and why.

RECAP:

One ATC with One decorated envelope paying tribute to an artist of YOUR choice.

One partner.

International Swap. Everyone is welcome as long as you have a good rating and if you’re new, have your profile filled out please. I WILL be checking.

Cool?

Let your minds and imagination run wild!

Any questions, let me know.

VERY cool idea!

I just signed up. I am a little worried that my favorite artist's style may not hold up well on an envelope going through the mail system. I will give it a go. The style is collage with small bits and I hope they don't rip off or get snagged on the USPS mail sorting machines! I can't control their machinery or any damage that may occur...I'll follow the rules and will hope for the best!

Or, I guess I could make the collage, do a color copy and make a homemade envelope out of the copy (which would not snag on the machinery). I'll have to think about it. Not sure if a copy would be following the rules. Let me know.

My favorite artist is Kurt Schwitters, and he will be my inspiration.

Hi Christine-- give it your best go. You can decorate the back side of the envelope if you can't do the whole thing. Also, if you think charms would fall off... you could just do it with paint, markers, and paper. Do whatever you think works. Have fun and thanks for joining :-)

I guess my brain just isn't working after the holiday or something...I just can't think of what to do for this swap. Maybe I just have too much going on right now or something. Anyway, I'm going to drop out 'cause I 'm just drawing a blank as I think about this. Sorry.

In the case of collages, like ChristineMM's plan, can't it all be put inside another envelope (padded) to actually mail? My favorite artists are collagists, too.

Hi. The robot didn't assign me a swap partner. so if you email me your addresses I'll send you both one. How's that?

OyeMichi 01/11/2007 #

Yeah, the link isn't working for me either. Hmmm...

user3645 01/12/2007 #

I have my Frida Kahlo ATC's ready to send but no partners to send to. Michi, what would you suggest?

OyeMichi 01/16/2007 #

Should we all exchange addresses?

Turtle 01/19/2007 #

I went out and bought special rubber stamps to decorate my envelope with. Please don't leave me hangin'. Michi, maybe you could contact swap-bot or start another swap with this theme?
