postcard swaps are type 2.

Another tip from a long time postcard sender and swap host: such a long time between partner assignment and sending date is an open door for flaking, or just forgetting about the swap. I strongly recommend shortening your swapping period to 1 month or less. For example, send by date: February 28.

Do you send a card when you're travelling? Do you send a card from where you live, but you purchased when you were out of town?

Or have the sign-up date later (e.g. 1 April)

You send a card while traveling.

And this is why there is a longer gap between the sign up and the deadline. I've been in swaps like this before. Never had any probles. And this is just a card. And you do not sign up for this one if you are not planning on going out of town. That's the whole idea. Also, I always manually go thru all the participants before I assign the partners so it helps to make sure everybody gets the card. Flakers are never welcome to my swaps.

And how you supposed to forget if it will be showing on your page as "not sent"? You do not click the "sent" button right after you get a partner.
