Description:

You know how you said you weren't going to buy anything new until you used up what you had, except that what you have is not what you like? Or you have a Grandparents Day card that you bought, unfortunately, when you still had them and now don't know what to do with it? Or you can't use that ugly card, because who do you like enough to send mail to, but hate enough to send an ugly card to? Or you have approximately 1,682 Christmas cards you need to unload?

This is a card swap. Send a card. Any card. Use it up, send it out. Doesn't matter the occasion. Any holiday goes. Write something in it, though. A note. A letter. A poem. Something more than just some ugly/obscure/strange holiday card and your name.

I REPEAT, WE WANT SOMETHING TO READ. BE PREPARED TO WRITE A SHORT LETTER, A LONG NOTE, TWO OR THREE PARAGRAPHS. dOnT jUsT sIgN iT!!!

Also, we DO NOT want any extra blank ugly or useless cards. This swap is to USE it up, so we may go out and purchase more cards we DO want...not figure out how to unload more the next time. Save those for extras on other swaps.

Mail art/stickers/stamps on the envelope is encouraged, but no pressure. Hey, maybe this card is a good place to stick those ugly stickers? Hmmm...guilt free ugliness.

FINALLY, TO MAKE THIS EVEN MORE FUN, LET'S AGREE TO ALL SEND AN UNWANTED CARD BACK TO OUR SWAP PARTNERS! This way we can use the 2 for our swap, and then use up 2 more to return the favor to our partners who send to us. What do you think? Of course, I can't mandate that. Just be ready to get a card back from who you've sent it to that wishes you a Happy Groundhog's Day in March. Or Happy Father's Day to you, girlfriend!!

What a great swap for me. I have 100s if not 1000 of cards I picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Just an addiction I have when I see stacks of cards cheep.

Come on then! :)

I do that, too, vick302000! I hit the thrift stores frequently and pick up a random bag of cards. The potluck of it is fun. And boy, do I get some UUUUUUgly stuff!

Just to clarify, this is about greeting cards in envelopes, not postcards, correct?

lettergirl 02/11/2014 #

Yes, this is about greeting cards, but if you hate your postcards, you could decide to send one to the person who sent you their swap back! :)

Finally a use for your "Congrats on your graduation!" "We're having a party!" and "Thank you for providing care" cards that random people have sent me over the years.
