EDITED

This or That is a new reading challenge type swap. Each month I will post a theme of two different types. It will be up to you to choose ONE of those types to use for your book to read for that month. There will be a variety of themes, in the coming months. Be on the look out for each THIS or THAT swap!

Each month I will post 2 items for you to choose from. You will choose ONE book to read from THIS or THAT ~ that I post. I will post the THIS or THAT swaps in the beginning of the month and signups will stay up through the 15th of that month. The send date will be the 14th of the following month. That will give you a little over a month to read and send. If the swap is not sent out on or before the 14th (take note of any holidays or weekends and send prior to that), I won't allow you in the next months swap.

For our 1st month ~ Choose THIS or THAT ~ GENRE

By a random generator your choices are :

Read THIS ~ Romance or Read THAT ~ Humor/Comedy

In GoodReads, the genre must be the top 3 genres in the list of genres for the book. If you go to GoodReads and choose a book, on the right side (or bottom for mobile) are the genres. The top 3 most genres is what we will use for picking the books

As with all my monthly reads, you no longer have to answer certain questions. Just make sure to write TWO full pages by hand or 1 page if typed. Here are some questions to help, if you are unsure what to write.

  • What was the book about?
  • Did you like or dislike it?
  • Who was your favorite character?
  • What was your favorite part? What was your least favorite?
  • Have you read any other books by this author?
  • Would you read any others because of this book?
  • Were there any situations or characters in the book that you identified with? How?
  • Did you like the book from the beginning or did it take you a while to get into it?
  • Would you change anything about the book?
  • Would you ask the author a question if you could? What would you ask?
  • Would you recommend this book to other readers?
  • What surprised you the most about the book?
  • What is the significance of the title? Would you have given the book a different title? If yes, what is your title?

RECAP ~

  • Pick THIS or THAT to read
  • read ONE book from that genre
  • Send a 2 page letter (by hand) or 1 page typed to your partner
  • tell them all about the book without spoilers

Have fun!!

Bonus ~ Read one book from each ~ THIS or THAT

Sorry, but I am not sure if I get it right. We choose either Romance or Humor/Comedy and then we read HOW MANY books and where do we find them ? On goodreads my mobile doesnt see a top ten list or so. Just several categories of romance .... Or do we choose whatever book we like from one of the two categories?

ImzadiRose 03/10/2014 #

You'll read just ONE book from either genre, sorry I put that in the swap. Yes, you choose whatever book you want from one of the genres listed.

On GoodReads mobile if you go to say ~ HP & Deathly Hallows - if you scroll all the way to the bottom there are some categories such as Book Details, About the Author and Genres. Click on Genres and it pulls up the top genres that that book has been listed as.

That help? LMK.

ImzadiRose 03/14/2014 #

Sorry! :) LMK is Let Me Know. One of the only "chat speak" phrases I use. Thanks for joining! :)
