Swap Coordinator:JP (contact)
Swap categories: Themed  Knitting  Yarn
Number of people in swap:77
Location:Other
Type:None
Last day to signup/drop:January 31, 2007
Date items must be sent by:February 20, 2007
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

Brrrrr! It's cold outside! It's a great time to relax with a cup of cocoa or coffee and knit a scarf!

PLEASE read through the rules of the swap before signing up! :) DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO SEND YOUR PACKAGE!!!!!!!!

Participants in this swap will exchange a Winter Scarf Knit Kit containing:

  1. Hot drink mix (at least 2 servings)- Coffee, cocoa, tea, hot cider mix, etc.
  2. A mug
  3. A scarf pattern
  4. Knitting needles to use for the project
  5. Enough yarn to complete the scarf pattern

Minimum kit value is $20

You can give your Knit Kit a winter theme, or any theme of choice...Valentine's Day, a yarn theme...whatever you like! Get creative, and have fun! Decorate a box according to your theme. Make a handmade notecard to accompany the kit. Whatever you want to do! The goal is to give your partner a warm fuzzy evening of knitting, and a warm scarf to enjoy afterwards!!

PLEASE: no cheap acrylic yarn, damaged needles, etc. Expensive yarn is not required...just use common sense. Send something that you would love to receive! Knitting needles can be used, if they are in good working condition. Package cups carefully so they arrive unbroken. Mugs made from heat-resistant unbreakable plastic can be sent instead of ceramic -- and they also weigh less than ceramic mugs (saves on postage).

Contacting your partner once assignments are made is recommended so that you know what colors they like, and if they are allergic to any natural fibers, what length scarf they want, etc.

Because of problems with non-swappers, nobody with a rating of less than 4 will be allowed to sign up for this swap.

New swappers who have not yet been rated are welcome, but are required to MESSAGE ME just to let me know that you are serious about swapping. If I have not received a message from a non-rated swapper before the sign-up deadline, they will not be allowed to swap.

Those with 2 or more no-send or problem ratings (1's and 3's) will not be allowed to join this exchange. If you feel you have been rated unfairly in the past, contact me.

Those who join this exchange and do not send a package to their swap partner will be put on a list of "Bad Swappers.''Bad swappers will be banned from any future exchanges that I coordinate!! And the list may be provided to other swap coordinators if they request it. So....if you don't plan to send....don't join this exchange!!!!!!! Play fair!

More info on the swap can be found on my blog at: www.julisjots.blogspot.com

This will help ensure that everyone receives a package. :)

Do you mean the Send by date (Feb 1st) to be the day after the sign-ups close (Jan. 31st)? ;)

JP 12/31/2006 #

OOOOPS....major typo on my part. It was supposed to be Feb 20th...not the 1st. :) Thanks Karla!

user5076 12/31/2006 #

Can the pattern be one of our own design? Well, actually modified off another pattern technically.

JP 12/31/2006 #

The pattern can be an original design, a free pattern from a website, a pattern sheet from a craft store, etc.... It does not have to be a purchased pattern. But, please be mindful of copyright law...don't send out xeroxs of pages from pattern books. And if you send an online pattern, please include the link where you got it, etc.

JP 01/ 5/2007 #

Please remember --- if you are a new swapper at Swap-bot and haven't been rated yet, you need to message me to let me know you are serious about swapping with us by January 30th to be able to participate in this swap. :) If I don't hear from you, you will be removed from the swap list before partners are assigned.

If you've already messaged me, don't worry -- you're good to go! :)

user5653 01/10/2007 #

HI. Just signed up, sounds like fun. I sent an email to you as I am new to swap bot.

user5470 01/11/2007 #

Congrats on making the Top 10 list!

jamaicamom 01/12/2007 #

This looks like so much fun! I am not a coffee drinker but tea and of course, hot chocolate are yummy. Please no mohairish types of yarn-my dogs think they are some kind of animal and I come home to roadkill when they find it! LOL I can't wait to start. Let the swapping begin!

JP 01/12/2007 #

Woo Hoo! :) 33 swappers signed up as of today! This is going to be a fun swap!! :)

Just a reminder -- unrated swappers need to send me a message by email by Jan 30th to be able to swap. Those who don't message me will be removed from the swap before partners are assigned Jan. 31st. (Just click "contact"by my name listed at the top of the Swap Rules above to send me a message)

And, PLEASE don't sign up for this swap if you aren't going to send a package to your partner!!!! I will keep a list of non-swappers....those who don't send will be banned from all exchanges I coordinate in the future. I want everyone to have fun in this exchange....so PLEASE send out nice packages that you would want to receive, and send them out on time. It's not only dishonest to receive in a swap and not send....but it really hurts your partner's feelings to not receive their package.

All that said --- I am SO looking forward to this exchange!!!! I went to the Yarn shop today and they have so many new goodies....soy yarn, bamboo yarn, yarn made from corn, soy/wool mix, a pretty organic cotton laceweight.....oh, it's so hard to wait to buy a pattern and yarn for this swap!!! I'm going to wait to find out my partner's preferences though! :)

If anyone has any questions about the swap, feel free to message me anytime!! :)

Hugs! And Knit On! :) Juli

user5716 01/14/2007 #

Hi there!

I'm new to this (have sent Juli a mail) and I'm looking forward to getting a great gift and of course to find out what to send :-)

Just a bit of info - I only use circular needles or flex needles. Can't stand straight needles. I have some problems with my shoulders so it's just better.

Britta

WillowTree21 01/14/2007 #

I'm not a knitter, yet! I plan on learning someday! :|

If I sign up for this one before the deadline, is it possible to have my partner send me crochet info and hook instead? :)

Rebecca aka Willow Tree

knitwillis 01/15/2007 #

Hi all! I'm so looking forward to this swap. I live in sunny and hot Florida, but I'm one of those crazy people that likes to wear scarves. I'm actually looking for lace type scarves. I should also let you know I'm allergic to wool, especially bulky. I seem to do okay with sock yarns and anything cotton, acrylic, silk, and probably alpaca too. Thanks, Cindi

user3614 01/15/2007 #

hello!

i don't knit, I crochet. I guess that my question is the same as willow tree's above. Is that possible?

Thanks!

JP 01/15/2007 #

Hi Rebeecca and BabyBlue. I have no control over who you get paired with for this exchange. Otherwise I would pair you two together to exchange crochet stuff. But....I have absolutely no choice in the matter -- the swapbot site assigns partners randomly. If your partner messages you, you could request a crochet pattern and hook instead of knitting needles, etc. But, this exchange is listed as a knitting exchange, so your partner wouldn't be obligated to send crochet items.

But....even if you can't knit, you would still receive some yummy yarn, a mug and warm drink mixes. :) And, scarf patterns are relatively easy.....maybe it's time for you to branch out and learn to knit as well as crochet!!! I use the two crafts together all the time!

I do HIGHLY recommend that everyone contact their partners after receiving their information to check for allergies, and preferences in yarn, colors, difficulty in pattern, etc.

Hugs! Juli

user5653 01/16/2007 #

Is this going to be a secret swap or no? Just wondering. I cannot wait to get my partner....

JP 01/16/2007 #

No, it's not a secret swap. I highly recommend contacting your partner by email once you receive her information and asking questions about colors/possible allergies/other preferences. :)

Hugs! Juli

DaCraftyLady 01/17/2007 #

Hello group, I just signed up too. I am a crocheter but I do knit. I have no preferences straight or circular is fine with me. I have not made any scarves in awhile so I look forward to getting a new pattern. I drink Tea and hot coco...With this cold weather, even here in So. CA it will be welcomed. This swapping is so much fun I can't wait.. Crochetoholic Debb

user5609 01/17/2007 #

Just letting the group know I am that most curious of things -- a guy who knits. Can't wait this should be cool.

TriStateLinx 01/18/2007 #

Hi, I'm new the Swap-bot, actually this will be my second swap and I am excited. I do knit and crochet. I don't want to say I am an expert, I'm just having with with the craft.

Winnie 01/20/2007 #

Hi! I'm new on this. I'm just sign up for 2 other swaps and I can't sign up for another at this moments (takes time make a pattern) but I would be so happy if you'll repeat this swap in the future.I love knitting. I would like to know if you would do one swap about yarn share only.(It's cheapest for the newbies, jajajaj)

TriStateLinx 01/21/2007 #

Hi Julie,

This is Tri-State Linx, I just wanted to let you know that I would really like to join this swap. I think it is a wonderful idea and I would love to be a part of it. This will make my second swap with Swap-Bot. I just completed my first with International Tote Bag. That was fanastic. I loved it.

I don't believe I have a rating yet. But my swap partner told me she loved my bag.

Nathalie 01/24/2007 #

Hello,

I'm from Belgium (Europe) is this a problem to participate in the swap?

I'm looking forward to my first swap ever and thinking about becoming a swap-o-holic ; )

Btw I hate purple (except lavender) all other colors are fine by me.

AlliCat236 01/24/2007 #

Hi!

I'm a knitter in North Carolina. This is my first swap and I'm very excited!

I have no preferences on color or fiber so hopefully I'll be an easy parter.

Jaichan 01/24/2007 #

I'm really excited to start this swap. I'm just a bit concerned because even though it says only people with high ratings will be allowed. Alas, in other swaps, although this rule has been stated, the low rated people, like Muse and JJ McElroy get through and people get burned. Is it really possible to not allow people to join swaps?

purplewhimsy 01/24/2007 #

Since I am trying very hard to teach myself how to knit, I signed up for this swap. I am excited about this one... maybe it will give me the impetus I need to learn how to knit, which so far I have not been able to do.

NOTE TO CROCHETERS: For those inquiring about crochet, I also posted a crochet swap almost identical to this one. Look for the winter crochet kit swap.

knittingauntie 01/26/2007 #

I signed up for this swap too. I am excited about figuring out what my swap partner will like. Thanks Juli for hosting this swap and letting us newbies join in. Sharon

JP 01/26/2007 #

Yes, Jaichan it is possible to ban swappers from joining. As the swap moderator for this swap, I can see everyone's information, and I have to option to ban swappers.

If someone signs up that doesn't meet my criteria, or if any non-rated swappers don't message me before the date for partners to be assigned, I will ban them from participating.

And.....if anyone does not send their package in this swap, I will put them on a list of "bad swappers'' -- their name address, email address and nickname. I'm going to keep this list.....if those names/addresses show up on a swap I'm running again, they will be automatically banned.

I have a list of non-rated swappers who have messaged me....and a list of those who have signed up that I haven't heard from. I'm keeping a close watch on signups.

If you see anyone signed up who is a known bad swapper, please message me privately and I will check out the problem.

:) Juli

user3287 01/26/2007 #

I would love to get a partner who asks for crochet pattern. (I have spotted a nice one!) Just need a choice of colour.

I do both. Knitting and crochets,

I use circular needles or flex needles. And prefer warm or neutral colours and natural fibres.

JP 01/26/2007 #

Nina, unfortunately, I have no control over who you are partnered with. The site randomly assigns partners from those who sign up for the swap. Maybe you will get lucky and be paired with a crocheter. :)

:) Juli

user5917 01/27/2007 #

I sent a message in before signing up. This is my first time and I am totally looking forward to it. I'm new to the yarn arena but can do basic knitting. I'm teaching myself and will get better. I'm already on my second scarf and it had increases and decreases in it.

I'm up for anything yarn wise and needle wise. I also don't prefer one color over another though I tend to be drawn to darker earth tones at the moment.

Winnie 01/27/2007 #

Hi Juli! I want to sign up to this swap, but I don't know if it is international. I sent you a message explaining that Im a new swaper, I dont have rating now, but I promise that Im good swaper! Let me sign up, please! :) Winnie

swampangel 01/27/2007 #

I signed up and then I sent a message.

Please forgive me if that was backwards.

I am a beginning knitter, so beginning I have just turned the heel and working on the gusset part on my first sock. LOL (with the aid off lots of pictures from the internet, thank goodness for the internet)

JP 01/28/2007 #

Brandy, Winnie and swampangel....I received your messages and you are on the list. :)

Wierdlings 01/28/2007 #

GAH! I hate waiting waiting.. I am so ready and hyped for this, but I have to wait until I get my partner to find out what they like, allergies, etc... Le sigh..

Back to waiting! ~Wierdlings

JP 01/28/2007 #

I know what you mean! I want to go to the yarn shoppe!!! :) Only 3 more days....... :)

Winnie 01/29/2007 #

I would like to know if Somebody knows where I can find a vocabulary of knitting in english/spanish. It would be very useful, because I have patterns in spanish that I must translate and I would like to understand another patterns that are in english. (Even in spanish there are patterns that vocabulary changes depend the region that they come). I hope you could help me! Winnie

SheWhoMust 01/29/2007 #

Winnie: You could try asking your question over in the forum at www.knitter'sreview.com Someone there hsould be able to help you.

user5978 01/29/2007 #

i am looking for jennifer weixelman on this site?

Neenbug 01/30/2007 #

Juli W beware of Muse. She sneaks in at the last moment. She has burned so many people on other swaps. We are on the lookout for her and if you go to the flea market swap you will see the many different names she goes by and what her real name is and also her real address and email. She will be stopped! My daughter happened to get her as a swap partner and contacted the head of the swap and they agreed she would send to Muse's partners instead and she would get nothing. That is what you need to do if she gets into this one. Maybe that will stop her. I have posted on several swaps. She burned both my daughters and she would have gotten my niece also if we had not caught her. That just takes the fun out of a great idea like swapping! Anyway enough ranting and onto happy swapping. Can't wait to get my partner and get going.

Winnie 01/30/2007 #

Thanks Stephanie! I found a bilingual site that has a abbreviations and symbols, needle equivalence, stitch patterns, knitting measurements, all in spanish and english. There are few free patterns, but the information is very useful for other patterns. Anyway I will see the knitter's review to learn other things. knitting always need something to learn. Thanks! Good Luck Winnie (I will send my pattern in english and spanish, just in case sometimes my partner will need to use or share one)

Wierdlings 01/31/2007 #

Tonight is the night!!!!

Doing a happy dance.

I can finally go shopping at the yarn store.. wheee!

~Wierdlings

JP 01/31/2007 #

Ack! You said....Yarn Store!!! :) Addiction hitting Must go to yarn store....must have yarn....must smell new yarn smell....must pat soft, fuzzy yarns.....

Ahhhhhhhhh!!! :)

I'm glad I get to go to the LYS tomorrow! I'm in major withdrawal!!! :)

wendyswoolies 02/ 1/2007 #

I don't have a LYS - there used to be one in my town but it closed a while ago (and it was a bit of an old lady shop anyway if you know what I mean) Now my nearest good yarn shop is about 60 miles away and so I have to do all my shopping online. It means I don't get to see and feel all that lovely yarn.....

user4951 02/ 1/2007 #

I am so excited! I thought I'd throw my preferences on here. I do not like mohair or synthetic fibers (no acrylic or other strange things please!) Also, I am not into lace-like scarves. Something warmer and bulkier - I'm in Chicago! I like most colors, though please no orange and nothing with red together with pink, though those colors are fine individually. Other than that, I like deep rich colors, or something brighter, but I'm not really a pastel kind of gal. Hope this helps!

Oh, as far as the drink - I'd prefer a nice tea or a yummy hot chocolate. Thanks!

user2626 02/ 1/2007 #

I have had my eye on some very nice yarn for my partner, now I just need to make the trip there to pick it up. For my partner, natural fibers only please. Something used in the acrylic tends to make me hivey.

Cassandra 02/ 1/2007 #

for myself: I also prefer natural fibers. I really can only knit and wear a soft wool. If it's not soft, I tend to get itchy while knitting/wearing it. I like red, dark pumpkiny orange, wine, burgundy, brown, grey. I only knit.

JP 02/ 1/2007 #

Ice and snow here today....I didn't get to go to the yarn store.

Sob....cry....pout.....

Maybe tomorrow! :)

Winnie 02/ 2/2007 #

I have the mug, the pattern, drinks, box, Im only waiting to know yarn preference of my partner who have not left a comment yet.(Conclusion: I Cant by the needles) I'll wait a couple days, If She dont leave a comment I will send it about my preferences. I would not like to package arrives later. Postage takes so many days. :p And I cant wait more!! I walk for the yarn store door every day to see what will I buy. :p

gearncniht 02/ 2/2007 #

so, the race has begun! for whoever my partner is, i like blues, greens, browns, blacks but not necessarily all together. i knit on straight and circular needles, with a slight preference for circs. as for pattern, no lace, please! i would, though, prefer a double-sided pattern. i like working with all sorts of yarn, though preferably not a fluffy yarn... can't wait to hear from my swappee!

user5653 02/ 2/2007 #

I have not heard from my partner, so I will post here. I would like something soft & warm, but no mohair or angora, makes me sneeze, natural colors, maybe handpainted? Love them. Also, maybe a simple cable pattern, I don't do cables, so hopefully this will be a good learning experience. Email me if you need more info. Thanks. Can't wait to hear from you.

Winnie 02/ 2/2007 #

Hi! I have no known alergies. I dont like much dark colors, I love blend colors, but every color will be welcome. I Knit, I dont crochet (just in case) =)) Wait seems eternity to me. I wanna send all!!

DaCraftyLady 02/ 3/2007 #

Hi.... I mailed my package out today to England so I hope it gets there before Valentines Day....this was a really fun swap...I hope there will be more like this, maybe with a different pattern??? Can't wait to get my package.....

JP 02/ 4/2007 #

PLEASE....if you haven't contacted your partner, please do so. :) I've gotten several emails from people who haven't heard anything. Just send them a short note, an ecard...something to let them know you're working on their swap. :)

Thanks! Juli

user5769 02/ 4/2007 #

Hi Juli. I'm confused. Is the person who sends us the item, not necessarily the same person that we send to? Because I got an email from a person who said they are my swap partner and asking about what I like but it is not hte person who is on my list as my swap partner???? This question sounds confusing to me too, but, I hope you'll know what I'm talking about! Thanks, Sandy

wendyswoolies 02/ 4/2007 #

Everybody gets two swap partners a sender and a sendee - you are not "exchanging" gifts with just one swap partner. Your swap partner is the person that you are sending to, they will have a swap partner they send to and so on. It's like a big circle, person A sends to person B, B sends to C, C sends to D and D sends to A. So everybody has two swap partners, the person listed as your swap partner who you send a package to and then another person who has got you listed as their swap partner and will send to you. Does that make sense?

JP 02/ 5/2007 #

Sandy -- Wendy explained it really well. The person you send to is not necessarily the person who is sending to you. Partners are assigned randomly....so you send to X, X sends to Y, and Y sends to you, etc.

Since a couple people have asked, this is NOT a secret exchange. Contacting the partner you send to is recommended (as stated in the swap rules), so that you know their basic preferences, if they have any allergies, etc. And, it lets them know that you are putting together their swap package. I think communication is important in swaps that involve more monetary investment.

Hugs!!! Juli

wendyswoolies 02/ 5/2007 #

I spent a happy day shopping on Saturday, packaging things on Sunday and managed to get to the post office this morning. So, Gina, your package is on it's way across the Atlantic - should be about a week I guess. I hope you like the things I've sent.

knittingauntie 02/ 5/2007 #

I have contacted my swap partner, but no one has contacted me yet so I guess I will post here - I love natural fibers, most colors and almost any weight yarn. I have done some lace knitting making two shawls and a couple of scarves. I have made the Irish Hiking Scarf and the twisty scarf from Scarf Style (actually made two of them - one grey and white and the other kureon). I love the new scarf on knitty that they are showing in Silk Garden Lite - I have not knit with it but I would love to. I drink tea, coffee, hot chocolate. I don't care for Earl Grey, but love Irish Breakfast Tea. I have a blog at www.knittingauntie.blogspot.com, and you can see some of my completed projects there.
Sharon (please contact me swap mate so I know you have read this)

user5653 02/ 5/2007 #

I have sent my package to my partner. I hope she enjoys it. Now, if only someone would contact me so that I know a package is coming my way.........

lilmissmuffett 02/ 5/2007 #

My package is now off to Maggie in IA! I hope you have fun with it!

My partner hasn't contacted me either so here goes: I prefer natural fibers but I'm not really particular. I love lots of color but neutrals are always good. I'm still learning how to knit so nothing too complicated patternwise, please! =) I drink coffee, tea, and cocoa. Thanks, Heather

JP 02/ 6/2007 #

Doh....guess what?! I just noticed that I CAN see who is sending to who.....LOL. Now that I have it figured out....

If you haven't heard from your partner yet....message me, and I'll let you know who is sending to you. :)

Hugs! Juli (who is obviously totally BLIND....lol)

user5470 02/ 6/2007 #

I have been contacted by my swaper, and I have contacted my swapee. All is good. Yarn has been ordered and goodies are being assembled. Such fun.

I hope so Winnie! I was sooo disappointed when they told me it would take that long for Nathalie to get her package! I'm anxiously awaiting mine for two swaps right now and got burned on my last one. I want her to be happy and excited, not discouraged about swapping!

user5917 02/16/2007 #

Cassandra 02/17/2007 #

nina in norway: did you get your package?

wendyswoolies 02/18/2007 #

Gina,

I\'ve sent you several emails trying to find out if your package has arrived. Please let me know, I paid extra for signed for delivery to make sure you got it so if you haven\'t then I need to let the Post Office know to start tracking it. The online tracking that I can see only goes as far as when it arrived with the Canadian postal service and that was about 5 days ago....please email me or post here to let me know if it arrived

savyjade 02/18/2007 #

I recieved my swap! What a great package! You will def receive a heart from me! I am so excited about the pattern. I have never done interlac before. My mom did a blanket for my son using it. Can\'t wait to get started. Adding the extra specail touches for each of my kids was so nice of you! My daughter was so excited! Thank you soo much for going so above and beyond. OH...the yarn is exquisite. Amanda

user4688 02/19/2007 #

Mimiwonton 02/20/2007 #

Guinifer! Oh My Goodness!!!! Got my package today and was blown-away! AWESOME....everything in it! I have been dying to try the Knit-Picks needles....and lo and behold!!! I love the yarn, the colors, the pattern, the drinks, the travel cup filled with goodies....and oh...those needles :-)!!!! If I could give you 5 hearts I would...and maybe throw in a couple of stars!!! Will post pics on my blog today. http://mimiwontonsknitpage.blogspot.com THANK YOU!!!

user2638 02/20/2007 #

Mimi- So glad you got your package today - I didn\'t think I was going to be able to close the box!!!

I was pretty excited when I saw your post about trying the new Knitpicks Options, cause I had just sent your package! I giggled to myself and hoped you\'d get the package before you ordered!

I never heard from my pal - so hopefully she didn\'t flake!

Again, so glad you liked it.

cookiemonster07 02/20/2007 #

Sylvielea- I mailed your package today. They said it would take 2 weeks to get to France. Please let me know when yuou recieve it. Thanks!

wendyswoolies 02/20/2007 #

Gina, I have contacted the Post Office here to see if they can do anything. I\'m annoyed \'cos I asked for a service that would ensure I knew it had arrived - turns out that I can only track it as far as arriving in Canada and can\'t get proof of signature! So the service they sold me wasn\'t what I asked for. I am definitely worried now as it\'s 15 days since I posted and it should be 3-5 days airmail

user4736 02/21/2007 #

Sigh my package has not been posted as I am still waiting for the yarn to arrive. I may well head out to Colorado for a flying trip to one of their yarn stores if it does not arrive today. I have everything else here pattern picked out, unique needles, mugs, hot drink etc

It will go out priority mail when I get that yarn. And I have contacted my swap partner and let her know it will be late but boy am I upset.

JP 02/21/2007 #

A big huge thank you to Sharon!! I got my knit kit yesterday and I absolutely LOVE it!!! :) I\'ve been sick the past few days so it really helped brighten my day. she sent me 6 balls of beautiful red peru DK, a pattern from MagKnits, cute green knitting needles, some Joe Trader\'s chocolate tea, and the cutest mug with kitties on it! :) I posted a photo of the goodies on my blog last night: www.julisjots.blogspot.com for whoever wants to see. :)

How do you go about posting photos on the gallery??? Can someone help me out?

Juli

JP 02/21/2007 #

There are still 13 swaps that have not been sent. If you are sending late, just make sure your partner knows. I see that a couple of you have posted that you\'re running late....thank you for keeping your partner and me posted. :)

For bad swappers only: If you do not send your package for this swap, your name, address and other information will be placed on a list of BAD SWAPPERS, which will be made available to other swap coordinators on this website. You were warned about this in the swap rules before you signed up for this swap. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE....just send your package. Don\'t receive and not send. That\'s basically stealing, and totally dishonest. Swap Karma does come back on you.....

user4688 02/21/2007 #

Wendy,

Your package arrived !!!Everything is perfect. The yarn is georgous and what about the tea pot and cup, love everything. I will post a picture in the gallery this afternoon. Can\'t wait to knit one of the scarf. I never use 15mm needles but it should take a couples hours to knit it.

Thank you so much!

hookedonstring1 02/22/2007 #

I haven\'t received anything yet... mail might be delayed because of the holiday. Will post as soon as it arrives.

wendyswoolies 02/22/2007 #

Gina - I am so glad it finally arrived! I was about to file a complaint with the post office. Can\'t believe how long it took to reach you! Hope you liked everything

Hi there! Since I'm new to this, I have a question. How do I get to the place to rate a participant? I got my package today and I am still sitting here in a state of "awe"!!! I am not exaggerating when I say I have never received a more beautiful gift in my whole life. Everything, from the wrapping paper, to the decorated box, to the items inside - ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! I've never seen anything like this and if there is an Extra Rating - then my partner should get it! She decorated my box with pictures of Greta Garbo (my favorite!) and she sent the most beautiful yarn that she actually spun and dyed herself! She sent a handmade beautiful blue mug that I will cherish always, she made a pin for my scarf, she made a bookmark and key ring out of felted beads, she sent these plastic sticks with a pyramid shaped block of chocolate on the end to stir in warm milk or coffee to flavor it - AWESOME!! She sent circular knitting needles, she sent a beautiful card that looks beautifully handmade. She wrote the sweetest letter and she sent a scarf pattern that is amazing and also one that I've never seen before.
I just can't say enough about my package and the sender. What a thoughtful, beautiful, amazing woman she must be. Wow! I will NEVER EVER EVER forget this gift!

JP 02/24/2007 #

The ratings option doesn't appear on the swap page until a week past the swap deadline date. once a week has gone by, there will be an option that says "rate the people who sent you stuff'' up by "View all swap participants.'' Then you'll be able to leave ratings for your partners. :)

user4951 02/26/2007 #

I received my package last Friday....WOW! Thank you SO SO MUCH! The yarn is beautiful. I've always wanted to knit with some Noro. Thank you thank you thank you!

JP 02/27/2007 #

I still see 4 swaps listed as "Not Sent'' -- PLEASE send out your packages ASAP If you're running late, we do understand that life gets in the way sometimes....just email your partner and let them know that the package will be a bit late. It's not the end of the world. But PLEASE don't leave your partner hanging with no package at all. That just takes the fun out of the swap for everyone.

I am sifting through all the messages I have received about swap packages that haven't been received......I will get back with all of you. I'm a bit behind on messages. I've had a horrible chest cold for more than a week now and haven't been online much.

If you haven't sent your package, or sent your package late, please contact me so that I know it's on the way. And let your partners know as well. :)

JP 02/28/2007 #

I have posted a spring version of the knit kit swap -- the Spring Purse Knit Kit Swap! Partners will be assigned March 20th -- and the deadline is April 20th.

Go check out the swap if you're interested in joining! :)

beccah 03/ 2/2007 #

My mail person has come and gone today - no package for me... maybe tomorrow?

JP 03/ 3/2007 #

Becca, Your package is coming from Chile. So it probably is international mail taking a bit longer for it to be delivered. :) Same for you Winnie. Your package is coming from Italy.

Hopefully, you both receive your packages soon! :)

Hugs! Juli

beccah 03/ 3/2007 #

JuliW - thanks for letting me know! I figured (hoped) that was the case :) - B.

JP 03/ 3/2007 #

Looks like we have a flake.......bazza (Amanda Norris) decided to clear out her profile and disappear. Anybody willing to send an angel package to someone who got ripped off by this person???? I can forward the mailing info for the person who was supposed to receive from her. Just message me if you can send out a replacement package.

And if anyone has Amanda's mailing information from another swap....please forward it to me. I have her name (if that's really her name) and her email, and I know she's Canadian. She's going on the flake list for sure.

Badddddddd swap karma!!!! Oh well....she brought it on herself.

GRRRRR. I can't stand flakes!!

beccah 03/ 4/2007 #

I received my package - so yummy! Thanks winnie!

Winnie 03/ 5/2007 #

I always send my packages and I send them on time. It must arrive later because there are more postal controls in USA, as the matter of fact, USA and Canada has restricted the cuantity of post entry ports.(Now there are only 2)Also, Canada mailing arrives for Miami postal port too.(This is what postal officer told me). I hope it will be useful to understand long time it takes.

hookedonstring1 03/ 6/2007 #

Yay! Mia I've given you a rave review! Thanks again so much!!!

masterboxp248 03/ 8/2007 #

Winnie 03/12/2007 #

Winnie 03/12/2007 #

Oh! Im afrais that i wrote the last comment and i did not view the sad new.... my partner go away!! I look at her profile and it was deleted!! Its very disapointed to me because I trust her...she sent me a mail when swap began asking me my preferences, likes, dislikes, etc...and now she disapear. Well, poor people that makes this world worst. But i still trust that there are much more people that worth.

user5653 03/12/2007 #

well, I am tired of giving my partner the benefit of the doubt, I don't believe that she sent the package to me. Nothing again today, if it was sent; last week, as stated, I should have received it by now.....if you were shipping late, wouldn't you send it priority?? I would.

masterboxp248 03/14/2007 #

masterboxp248 03/30/2007 #

OK- I;m trying not to sound greedy here....but my partner apparently flaked out. Juli kindly offered an angel package, which I truly appreciate (the thought, anyway). However, it looks like my angel flaked out too....oh well, lesson learned.
