Description:

This swap are for those who enjoy reading books and also likes to collect unique and handmade bookmarks. For this swap you are required to make one "Handmade Bookmark" for your assigned partner. You may use fabric, scrapbooking papers, felt, polymer clay, or a combination of any of these craft materials. Embellish with flat buttons, small beads, sequins, yarn, and decorated ribbons. Includes also crochet, knit, cross stitch and/or embroidery as long as its at least 2 x 6 in size).

RULES: Must have at least a 4.95 rating; No 1's for this swap. Make something that you would like to receive. Craftsmanship should be neat. Rate your partner when you receive your bookmark from them. Be on time regarding mailing deadline; and most of all HAVE FUN.

I've posted a few links below for inspiration and some tutorials. This is a sender's choice, but I highly recommend that you read your assigned partner's profile regarding their likes and dislikes. You don't want to put a lot of time and effort into a project and then find out afterwards that your partner doesn't like the color yellow or pink.

NOTE: This swap are for FLAT bookmarks that are normally about 2 x 6 in size. PLEASE NO BOOK THONGS!

Should this be a Type 3 swap since we are crafting the bookmark?

vsengupta 04/ 7/2014 #

Yes, it is a Type 3 swap. I would package bookmark in a bubble wrap mailer. I hope I answered your question. Happy crafting!

The description is still showing Type 2. I just don't want to complete a Type 3 swap and only get credit for a Type 2 swap.

BTW, you found some awesome examples of handmade bookmarks. The painted popsicle sticks are so freakin' adorable! I'd never seen anything like that before.

Wow, how could I not join after all the great ideas you've given us?

vsengupta 04/20/2014 #

I'm so happy that you like the ideas that I've provided for this swap. There are so many choices and wonderful bookmarks to create!

AnitaHames 04/21/2014 #

I really want to join, but I'm going to be soooo busy the next 6 weeks! :-(

vsengupta 04/23/2014 #

Hello AnitaHames,

If all goes well with this Handmade Bookmark swap than I will do another one sometime in the late summer!

Kokeshik Doll Bookmarks

I thought these Kokeshi Doll bookmarks were very unique. Free pattern on Raverly website.

It looks like all of these are sewn somehow, and I can't sew a stitch! I don't want to disappoint by making a paper craft style bookmark, a nice one, of course. Thoughts?

Would a cross stitch bookmark be acceptable?

vsengupta 04/28/2014 #

Yes, cross stitched bookmarks are acceptable, as well as crochet, knit and embroidery too, as long as they meet the required size. The bookmarks should be flat and should be at least 2 x 6 in size.
