Number of people in swap:11
Location:International
Type:Type 3: Package or craft
Last day to signup/drop:November 3, 2014
Date items must be sent by:November 22, 2014
Number of swap partners:2
Description:

For this swap you will have 2 partners. For each partner you will prepare 6 small envelopes with a small surprise in each.

The envelopes should be pretty small - roughly ATC size (2.5" x 3.5" or 6.35 cm x 8.89 cm). Unlike ATCs, the envelopes don't need to be exact, you can make them bigger or smaller! The envelopes shouldn't be plain - make them out of decorative paper, add a sticker, some washi - anything to make them fun to receive in a December holiday theme.

After you make each envelope, add a small surprise to each one. Ideas include: stickers, an ATC, small ephemera, a nice note, punches, postage stamps, confetti, stamped images, washi, ribbon, etc. Anything that would make a nice little treat. What you include is sender's choice, but it's always nice to consult your partner's profile for ideas of what to send.

This is designed as a small swap and you should be able to send it for minimum postage. It's labeled as "Type 3 - Crafts & Packages" because of the work to create and/or decorate the envelopes, not because of the package size.

Please consider this is an international swap. Your partner may reside in a different country. If your envelope is bulky and appears to have more than just correspondence, you may want to fill out a customs form.

Please log on at least two days before the sign up deadline and I will check profiles before assigning partners.

Any questions? Just ask! :-)

This sounds like fun. Does anyone know a good site for free envelope patterns?

Here are links to a few...

A Few More

You can also do an internet search for "envelope templates" and get all kinds of interesting ideas. If there is a specific size you want to make, please let me know and I'll see what I can find. :-)

I think this is a great idea for a swap.

Cynlen thanks for sharing those envelope links.

This is awesome! I just started making my own envelopes 😊

A little tip for mailing these: if you lay the envelopes out flat across the entire area of your envelope and use a bit of washi tape to keep them from sliding around, you'll keep your envelope at a lower postage rate than if you just put them in the envelope.

I just picked up some nice paper to turn into mini envelopes today. Looking forward to filling them with mini surprises.
