What is a Yo Yo?

igobylorib 01/16/2007 #

I'm making this for my daughter so if my partner can send mine in pinks and purples that would be much appreciated

Simsan, a yoyo, or quilted yoyo, is a piece of fabric cut into a circle, then turned in along the outside egde to make a small hem all the way around, and then tied. The photo above are some yoyo's. I use them for everything, pillows, purses, table clothes, on the back of chairs (instead of a doilies), animals, garland, ornaments, curtains, lamps, jeans and shirts, blankets, wall hanging designs, etc ... I use smaller ones ontop of them sometimes, and/or add buttons. I love Yoyos ! :)

Love from Me, Willow Tree

I have never done yo-yos but have always wanted to! Can I request a certain color scheme? Thanks for the CD idea, what a great template idea. Is there anyway to successfully rotary cut the circles?

Hey, Willow Tree, do you have some photos of your many yo-yo projects?

WillowTree21 01/25/2007 #

Hello Funtoscrap,

My digital camera was stolen some time ago, years! I haven't gotten around to getting a new one, however, hubby is working on that as we speak. As soon as this happens I will load more photos to flickr. Right now, I have to take the picture and then take it to the store and then scan etc. A pain in the .... Ahmmmmm. But I will soon, being the next month or so.

As for the circles, I have always drawn my circles and then sat while watching TV, kind of in a slump with my feet up and free hand cut them. There are circle cutters you can use, but to me I like knowing I did it all the old way. If you rotary cut the circles with a steady hand, I don't see why it wouldn't work. :) You can also buy many yoyos cut by others on ebay too. I never understood that part, but I know they are there. :) Happy yoyo-ing!

whoa! not sure why it did that LOL

Hello everyone, can we please make sure that the yoyos we send out are the size of a CD? The last batch I got was larger than a CD.

Thanks, WIllow Tree

Ok it's me again .. this time a few hours later, I noticed that the above states 5 inch circle and use a CD (which are 4 1/2) for the size of the yoyo, and the finished yoyo is to be 2 1/4 round.

Well I use a CD but it isn't 5 inches. I checked all my CDs and they are all the same size. All my finished yoyos are 2 inches round.

Do I need to drop for this swap? Or make a new template that is 5 inches and make those to send? All the ones I got last time I have to cut down to the size I use.

Any advice?!?
